In one video they say towel dry hair before applying conditioner, they said that's what they do at the salons. So my take away is to towel dry after shampooing, apply conditioner then add water to emulsify then detangle.
@@TheFabulousLV 😭😭 whew i hope that just goes for this salon because even going to salons out here in Atl. I have never gotten my hair towel dried after shampooing just to add conditioner and then more water? Idk maybe im trippin 😂 but that just sounds harsh on the hair. And make it harder to detangle?
@@59wooly32 the lady’s hair was wet but it wasn’t drenched. I don’t go to salons anymore but some of them back in the day would hand squeeze the water out and apply conditioner. So, I figure that’s who she is addressing.
@@poeticlovee ma’am, idk what your problem is or who did it to you but you could’ve left your negative comment directly under the post WITHOUT involving me in your foolishness 🙄 go give yourself a hug 🫂 sis it sounds like you could use one. There’s def nothing poetic or lovely about your introduction into my space 🙅🏽♀️ good googly moogly 😒
@@poeticlovee in the clip the lady that's getting her hair washed said "I don't feel anything so that's a surprise to me". The OP was just quoting her, then they added "spoken like a true natural" because most of us naturals can relate to that. Hope that helps with your understanding of the OP's original comment.
An extra tip., if you have the time and parience. My son is very tender headed. So I've found that it's better to first finger detangle the section. (Just pulling it apart) before going in with the wide tooth comb. He seems to not feel it that way and it makes it easier to comb through
Any of yall ever cut the tip of your finger and still have to detangle your hair, and the bandaid keeps getting wet? Yeah, that's me today. Lesson learned, im buying disposable gloves now
Yes GAWD 😭 I’ve learned to be extra careful with living life in the few days leading up to my wash day because trying to do my hair with even the smallest of cuts makes me contemplate shaving my head every time. Life must have a sick sense of humor though because despite my best effort, I still end up slicing my finger while opening a water bottle or something ridiculous sometimes smh
Something I do now when I detangle is use really warm water. The warm water relaxes my natural curl pattern into more of a wave and makes the process much easier. The cooler water temps made my natural curls shrink up and more difficult to comb out. If you can do it under running warm water thats ideal. If you use a spray bottle keep the water in the bottle really warm. I hope this help someone 💕
This confirms what always thought about my hair but I just don't know it's just me but yes the warm water will relax curls so you've been a blessing in confirmation take care and be safe this holiday in the name of the Lord Jesus❤
After watching another video of yours that showed you doing this method, it changed my ENTIRE in shower detangle process. Not only was I able to detangle faster with larger sections, but I saved soo much product. I would normally saturate my hair with deep or regular condition...but not anymore! Thanks for sharing all your vids ❤
Oh wow, I was just thinking the tip was obvious coz I have done that for years. Good to know it actually helped someone. And yes, you will waste all your conditioner if you do that.
Looks like a great technique….but, I am going to stick with good thorough finger detangling followed by a wide-tooth comb before putting it in twists. Done and Done!! My strands never truly STAY detangled….so why fight with it. 😀🤣
THANK YOU!!! I was doing exactly what you demonstrated using the same tool. I figured out that I needed to add water using your Indulge conditioner. I also realized I've been using too much product.
Know your hair and do what is best, if you have super coily 4c type, use your fingers first and do not over drench with water while detangling to prevent breakage.
She's right. I would suggest for low porosity sisters like myself to just stay under the water as you brush it feels so good. I do it a lot but then I let the conditioner sit then I rinse. It will be soft. Low porosity hair only
Yall products work so well we don’t even need a demonstration 😂 been using yall for 4 years & when I say you can really detangle with the shampoo alone. Soo damn good!
This is what I do with my daughter who's Autistic, she has super long curly hair and gets tangled very easily. I detangle her hair like this. That little splash of water on the conditioner makes such a difference. It really makes it so slippery and silky and so easy to detangle 😊
That's not what makes people hair "fall out." In my opinion, using the wrong procedure to detangle your hair can lead to them NOT retaining their length...huge difference between hair falling out and not retaining length...🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
It was for me so I'm thankful for the information. There could be many reasons, yes. This example is used to show people like me that the snarls don't have to end up in the brush or hands.
@lorila-northrup7748 I think when someone says, "hair falling out," it usually refers to hair loss from the root caused by medical conditions, harsh chemicals, and really bad braiding or weaving techniques. Removing snarls and kinks do not make people hair "fall out," but one can retain their length by using better conditioning and combing procedures.
To the uninitiated, it may seem like overkill to involve prayer. But they don't understand that this has quite frankly been a traumatic suffering for many black children who had people who didn't care enough doing their hair, especially those who were told to just deal with the pain in silence or get whooped. So happy that we have better products now, but it still requires patience and love to carry out with grace.
@@YouKnowMeDuhit's not that deep. Whats worse is us continuing to live in trauma on purpose and hear none of the things our hair tells us because we continue to live by the indoctrination that we had as children and then blame the adults instead of choosing to grow up now that we know the difference. Pray for that.
Yup apply conditioner.. wet hair.. work the product with finger detangling and then gently use a wide tooth comb or detangling brush to smooth the hair out and then I twist up that section. Working in sections is also key
I don't detangle my ultra-fine 4c hair wet.. Or dry... I detangle damp hair with a seamless medium toothed comb with leave in detangler, leave in conditioner and 20 sections. This works best for me.
@@Michebeauty In the past yes and i lost too much hair. My ultra-fine hair is weakest when wet. My trichologists and stylist do not detangle my hair wet or dry. They detangle my hair damp with leave ins. My trichologists even make their own leave in detangler for their clinic patients. When I used to get box braids, the very firat rule of takomg them down was never wet the hair. We would use a leave in and grease to lubricate the hair to detangle and once all the tangles, matts and shed hairs were out, then we shampooed. Dor some reason for some people when they wet tangled hair, it locks even more. I do not know if it's mainly the finer texture or the more raised cuticle but it happens to straight or kinky hair.
Oh this is me!! Detangling very wet just makes me loose so much hair, and tried different products and brushes etc. Detangling when damp gives me the least breakage. Only thing is I will put conditioner in my hair with some oil, and with very warm water, steamer or cover my hair for some heat. Then let it dry until it's damp and finger detangle/comb. The prep takes time, but then I can detangle more completely, without tension or losing hair.
I call it," laying my shingles down." The hair shaft looks like shingles under microscope and it makes it sleek and shiny. Do it once, youll see a marked difference. Peace n Comfort ❤❤❤
Finger detangle/detangle during the conditioning process that way when it's time to style you can use the brush to define your curls since you took out most of the tangles earlier.
@@ashleybcookinhi! 👋🥹 Please, TRY the brush before you knock it. These things are recent innovations made specifically for *our* hair, and baby this brush Works. I used to get Dominican blow outs and she always used a paddle brush to detangle and even that is SOOO much better than a comb. But you hair must be Saturated as demonstrated in this clip. Try it before you knock it! 🧝🏿♀️🪄
I don't know if this is good but it works in less than 5 mins for me. I put conditioner on my hair leave it and take my shower and then I stand under the shower and let the water go through my hair as I detangle. I have never had any issues after doing this. It literally takes me about 5 minutes but I also have medium to fine-density hair so that could be why its quicker. My daughter has thick long hair and it works for her also so just a add to this video.
That’s what I do naturally because I use a lot more conditioner than that so I have to wet it because it be so thick. I haven’t had any shading even when brushing which I use my fingers more than I use a brush or comb , also I had absolutely tangling in a month and my hair is thick. I found this keratin protein treatment and that stuff makes my hair feel like butta and it smells really good. It retains fur $60 but I found it at Marshall’s for $16! Too bad they only had 1 or I would go back and buy all the rest! lol. The Koreans make some of the best hair and skincare products.
That amount of water is key ‼️ that squishy foamy thang I use my hands more too. Also I find my hair tangles in a spiral and I try to finger it out reversing the tangled spiraled mess Then I comb out the ends first 😉☺️💋🪶🫶🏾🙌🏾💯
I just add a good amount of conditioner to my already wet hair, braid it, put 2 shower caps on and let it sit while I shower. Then start finger detangling until I can run my fingers through my hair easily. However, I’ll still try this method.
Thank you for this information. I didn't realize I was not using enough water. I've unfortunately been on my natural journey alone. Trying to do my best watching videos. Your videos have been so amazing for my 4c hair. I will be now purchasing your products because you have given me so much confidence. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I always comb my hair before washing, so that I don't plug the drain up so much when it fails out during washing plus it's easier to comb afterwards. As a little kid my hair hair was super long, thick, and course. I used to plug the drain and the vacuum with all the hair I lost daily, but it never thinned out. Even though my hairdresser used to always tell me, I had the perfect hair, because she could do anything with my hair, I never cared for it cuz maintenance was extremely long hours and work. I never appreciated it but I'm trying.
What works for ME, (a 4C girl) is not using that brush first - that brush pulled out so much of my hair when I used it first. Use a wide tooth comb to detangle first, THEN use the detangling brush - the brush helps to define my curls while I have the conditioner in my hair.
I thought she was going to toss the brush and say DO THIS 👐🏾. Finger detangling is supreme in avoiding breakage. Your clients hair is beautiful so is yours. You’re clearly doing it right❤
Gorgeous! 😍 Can you do a video of how you upkeep your natural hair under the sew in? Like do you keep it for a month, then take it out, wash your hair & put it back in?
I use brushes made specifically for detangling with water and a heavy moisture Conditioner. I leave it Conditioner on for 5 minutes finger through to make seperate medium to large parts then brush. Hardly any shedding of extra hair and glides like butter and I have a mixture of 3c and 4c hair
@@Sparkle-ey7iw i detangle my hair with a detangling pre poo and a wide tooth comb before shampoo and deep conditioner. Then after detangle it again with a medium toothed seamless comb with a leave in detangler and a leave in conditioner.
Thank you for the tip, because I sure was doing it all the way wrong, and I lost a lot of my hair, to the point i stop detangling my hair, this video was very helpful ❤
I agree with this method. ❤The water 1st is important because your loosening the strands from remaing debris & residue 1st and then evenly layering the conditioner.
I'm able to detangle my hair with just water before washing because the water where I live is soft, but I like to detangle before shampooing because I dont like how tangled it gets trying to scrub my scalp with all the dead fallen hair stuck in my hair, and smoothing is harder, as well as detangling before shampoo ensures my hair is fully saturated and wet. Also, I specifically brush my hair to remove all the fallen hair, or else my hair WILL tangle from it. And then when I'm done detangling, I lightly pull the ends of my hair to remove the stubborn hairs that were taken out with the brush. I detangle before shampooing and after while I'm letting conditioner sit, as well as while I rinse it out. Thats what works for me
