@7:30 "to abseil" - loanword from the German verb "abseilen" ("ab" = "down", "Seil" = "rope"), the act of quickly traversing downwards (down a cliff or similar) while being fastened to a rope

The Satan voice actor was the vice of another Devil figure in the classic series, in the Pyramids of Mars.

The effects work in this two-parter was great. Apparently this story had a lower budget than usual, but it was used extremely well: modular sets, and only one animatronic Ood; the low budget was even why the Ood wore regular suits! Some great music too, giving some scenes a real atmosphere. I love it when restrictions, etc foster creativity.

You will see the Ood again but remember they’re only bad when they have red eyes.

Love the fact that they had limited time to shoot the monologue david had. Like 15 minutes or something and he did it in one take. the Goat right there. Also rose saying she's gonna wait for the doctor, and at the possibility of him being dead she would rather die there then leave him on his own 😭😭😭😭😭😭

I love the ood!! I used to walk around my house with my hands dangling under my neck and acted like them to annoy my brother. My mum slapping my hands when I'd wiggle my fingers bc she didn't like the image of the ood🤣 Doctor Who is part of so many of my core memories

What i really love about The Satan Pit is at the very end when the Doctor is avoiding telling them what the creature was, you can see in his eyes that he's still terrified to accept the Devil as a factual being, even though he killed it using the black hole

I love how in the first part, you were able to point out EVERY little detail hinting at the Ood's master being the Devil! As a kid who was obsessed with the show and watched it when the episodes came out, even I didn't notice them! Great how these two episodes get better on a rewatch!

I have to remember to tell you about the last scene of this episode at the end of this season, because it's a sweet bit of trivia, but it's very spoilery for now which is why I'll wait until later.

Rose wanting to die with the Doctor is soooo sweet of her. I loved her already but this episode consolidated it, she loves him so much she would die so he wouldn't be alone. It's adorable. I love their relationship so much. I am at season 6 now and I think no companion is as good as Rose yet.
