A tricky job interview question. A great challenge. A correct answer explained by mathematician. Thank You for watching. The best support for me is to click the like button below the video. Thank You!
Under what circumstances would you realistically come across an expression like this ? I can think of no real-life example that isn't merely to detect whether you understand operator precedence. Any normal person would not write it in this way unless, perhaps they were expecting it to be evaluated on a specific type of calculator.
If they use a business calculator they will get it wrong. But the preamble that many will get this wrong is objectionable as is the false claim that 95% will get it wrong.
I did the math. 0% of job applications asked this question, 95% of your content is about the wonders of PEMDAS and 100% of your thumbnails are clickbait, but it did distract me from my murder videos for .001% of my day. Smarty pants!
These "PODMAS" questions are utterly pointless without the underlying context. If the question is "If we have two men and two women, and they each have two apples, but they find that two of the apples are bad; then how many good apples do they have?" then the calculation is ((2men+2women)x2apples each)-2 bad apples)=6 good apples. But without that context then any random sequence of the calculations gives any useless answer you like.
@@jhygggffg7360 funny tho. In my long life I cannot recall an instance where I have been led to ‘do some mathematics’ without every variable in the equations representing some ’hard’ real-world thing. Sure its useful to practice on such examples but IMHO maths is inexorably entwined with reality. Maths needs context to be of any utility otherwise it is just hand waving.
@@nigelwilliams7920 Maths don't require context to exist. They only require context to be used in the real world. As an other user told you: thats what parenthesis are used for. You cannot just came and say: yeah, but in this context it wil be like this. Why not? Cuz you are changing the equation by adding parenthesis. You are not adding context. You are changing it!!!!
