Thank you Dr. Boz for offering the CGM. I am pre-diabetic with sarcoidosis and paid for the device with your help ( I received the prescription) in December. I am one of those people that all of a sudden my insurance began paying for it a few months back😊. My A1C went from 6.2 to 5.6 and I have reduced my inflammation from sarcoidosis due to your teachings. Please continue to do what you do.

Type 2 diabetic and I have wore dexcom g7 but switched to libre 3 because of cost for 10 months. I lost 40 pounds, and my a1c went from 8.9 to 5.7. My daily blood sugar is no longer in the 200. It now averages around 109. Just learned what not to eat, no carbs. The cgm kept me honest.

Trying to help my sister improve her T2D. She is having her blood sugars stay around 200...even with insulin. Had her contact her doctor today to ask if she needs additional insulin bc staying around 200 or more all day seems like uncontrolled to me. Are you still on meds getting your blood sugar down to 109? My sister recently had her gallbladder removed so she says she definitely could not eat keto. Says fat goes right thru her. Did you get your numbers down with low carb or only full on keto?

I've been wearing a freestyle for about 4-5 months. I went off Metformin recently because I didn't want to deal with the "side effects" any longer. I discovered via my monitor that it wasn't really helping anyway. BUT.... I found that BERBERINE did indeed help! If I take it before or at the start of the meal, it keeps the number from going up as high as that food would normally cause. And if I take it AFTER the meal and a high spike, I see the high spike come down MUCH faster to normal. ALSO, my fasting numbers are more in the 80s and 90s on a week of using berberine, whereas they have been high 90s and usually 100's! And for me, no berberine side effects. So the CGM helped me see clearly the difference of metformin and berberine.

I'm a T2D (no meds, exclusively managing it via nutrition & exercise for the past 7 years) and have used two Dexcom G7 sensors. Each time, I got some really valuable insights. I'm also a long time Dexcom shareholder and was trying to understand why they decreased the frequency of the updates on the Stelo (every 15 min) vs. the G7 (every 5 min). Then it hit me. The two devices probably use the same battery, yet somehow the Stelo lasts 5 days longer. So Dexcom needed to extend the battery life for the Stelo and must have decided - we'll continue to take the reading every 5 minutes but to conserve battery life, we'll just communicate with the smartphone, Apple watch and/or Dexcom monitor only 4 times per hour instead of the usual 12 times. As for the lack of the calibration feature in the Stelo, I can't think of any technical reasons why they did that other than to differentiate the two product lines. If you absolutely need the calibration feature, you have to pay more and get the G7.

I started a no carb diet in Nov last year. It took nearly 8 months to start seeing ketones on my strip tests. In the month I have seen these rise to a regular 2.5. My poor liver must have been so overloaded, I still have an elevated glucose level but it’s not coming out in the urine anymore. I’ve been a T2D since 2010 but relied on my Dr to provide the answer in conventional medicine. It just kept getting higher and higher to the point I was getting neuropathy in my legs and feet. Some ulcers on my lower legs, could not sleep due to pain and need to visit the toilet 5-6 times a week. The one thing I think is different is I have never been overweight I was just skinny fat. The no carb diet has been a bit rough adjusting to what my needs were but after about 3 months the worst of the symptoms were either gone or some much better that it made little to no difference to my day to day. Your channel and many others have given the tools, knowledge and encouragement to keep it going. I eventually sacked my doctor because he wanted me to go back on the meds. I found a better way. Thank you Dr and all the others that helped me through this most challenging middle of my life.

To the person asking about exercise raising blood sugar, it’s most likely because of the intensity. After I lift or do total gym hard, it’s always higher. I then lower it by doing lower intensity, either moderate spin bike or walking for 30 minutes.

I'm transitioning to a low carb diet, in hopes of solving some of my ongoing health problems. I've also never been overweight, and I'm pretty lean but have some excess body fat around my abdomen. I've noticed an increase in abdominal fat since menopause, 4 years ago. My A1c is just one point below the "pre-diabetes" mark, which the doctor considers to be fine. This is not fine to me at all! To me, this elevated blood glucose (even though it's not in the danger zone) means there's a problem. I began cutting way back on sugar in my diet about 4 years ago, and for a year now I don't even eat fruit anymore, or any other kind of "natural sugar". But my A1c still remains elevated. I have some health concerns that are negatively impacting my life (unexplained neuropathy pain in feet and legs, muscle and joint pain, fatigue, mood swings, etc). After doing research, I want to try a low carb diet for an extended time to see if I can get to feeling better. Doctors have been no help whatsoever! They take one look at me, and because I "look" healthy they don't take my concerns or my pain seriously. I tired of it, and I'm going to figure this out for myself, because apparently no one else can!

I've given up on my dexcom g7. It first kept alarming saying my glucose was dropping to 52 at night, not really unusual for me but it went lower, don't remember what it was but I think it was on wrong and I was lying in it when I slept. The 2nd one consistently said my glucose was 130 or higher during the day and I never have my numbers that high - so I checked with finger prick and it was 90. My numbers usually run between 80 and 60 without more than 18-20 hrs of fasting. The monitor was making me kind of crazy because it was way off what my finger pricks were. It would not calibrate. I gave up on it after the 4th try. I'm 72, was pre-diabetic but haven't checked my A1C in a while. I stil listen to you and keep up - got a friend to start listening a week ago and he was really excited to find out all the science from you. Thanks! I’m from southern Oregon. This is my first time listening to your show. I’m aware of you from the carnivore community and everyone seems so happy to work with you. I’ve got a keto mojo but haven’t taken it out of the box, maybe I don’t want to prick my fingers 🩸. My A1C was 5.7 during some recent blood work. I couldn’t register ketones on pee strips no matter what I did. I prefer the carnivore diet to keto because any carbs would eventually get me off track. There’s no question about what’s acceptable or not on carnivore diet. But, still, after 2.5 years I haven’t been able to stay away from sugar/carbs 😭. I’m on again as of the last 3 days. Always feel better when I am. But, then sugar 😈. I’m a 57yo woman. I don’t like the scale but I weigh about 260. When I started I quickly lost 35lbs but then I had a reaction from my psychotropic med binding to protein, as my Dr said, and that made things difficult. Now when I’m on for a month I get seriously constipated (sorry if that’s TMI) and then I’ll eat a bunch of fruit like Drain-O, then I’ll just go for sugar. It’s been a recurring issue. I’m hoping that using Calm/Magnesium for sleep will help with the constipation. That got way longer than I intended for an intro. Anyway, hi and thanks.
@noyebalmer8112
@noyebalmer8112 12 дней назад
@@LoriDRBlake to help with constipation increase your fat intake and or use chia seeds (Dr Boz talks about this in her book) or increase magnesium citrate. Try to not eat fruit until the sugar loving bacteria in your gut micro biome die off. the fructose in the fruit just keeps them going. This may take a while. Then your cravings will substantially disappear. Your meds may also be making it harder. You may find as you continue improving that some of those medications are no longer necessary but always check with your physician.

-- Updated -- Doc, thanks for this video! I've had my Stelo for 1 day and I was very surprised to know that I have a high glucose level during the day - average was 107 and I'm in ketosis! I've been in ketosis for about 8 years and I read that if you are in ketosis for a long time, it's common to have high glucose readings - those that a "normal" person would have. One person said that it took 1 day for his Stelo readings to stabilize, so my plan is to wait one day and then start comparing to my blood meter. -- update 9/5 -- I just compared. My Stelo said 98 and my Precision Xtra blood meter said 75! I was very surprised to see values above 100 from the Stelo because I'm making ketones (only .4 today but usually at least .5). It makes me think that the Stelo is way off!

Starting class on Monday and looking forward to it. Nervous but excited with some panic going on. Very interesting to hear about the 2 cases - I did a 22 day fast in May of 22 water only with salt as needed. I wish I had known to monitor anything other than how I felt each day. I would guess my body did similarly to case 2. Very excited to learn about Stelo.

I love my CGM and luckily insurance covers it even though I am a T2D. Provides negative feedback when I’m less than vigilant with my diet. With Mounjaro and a ketogenic diet, drove my A1C down to 4.9. It was also helpful when the shortage often left me without Mounjaro for weeks at a time.

I wore one only because it was SO HARD to get off with one hand, the adhesive was so sticky!!! I talked to my pharmacist about alternate locations so I could use two hands for removal, and he said only the front thigh would work well. After a couple-month gap,, I ust started wearing the second one yesterday. I'm getting ready for a fast-and-sardine challenge for lab test comparisons as my birthday present to myselt. I sighed up for your beginners course a while back and will start that as well 😊

@drboz - do you know your little glucose meter, the finger prick one, needs only be 85% accurate? I went down the rabbit hole of wanting to know how accurate they are when I decided to buy one. So a reading of 100 could be 85-115. Not sure I would want to calibrate another device against something so inaccurate itself.

Commit to 1 hour a day maintaining zone 3 cardio for 30 minutes of that time and zone 4 cardio for the other 30 minutes. Works better than any supplements I've found or diet types. Total steps in the day don't do it. It's about this concentrated time of keeping the heart rate consistently in zone 3 and 4. If you can spike it into zone five cardio for 10 to 15 minutes of your hour, even better but you may have to work up to that. I simply start out walking as fast as I can up a mountain and tell I'm fully warmed up and I'm ready to run and take it into zone 4 and up.

I just ordered the Stelo! Been wanting to do it since i saw the press release and this encouraged me to go for it. I regularly check my glucose, so it will be very interesting to see how accurate it seems. I have a plan to continue checking my blood glucose the old fashioned way. My thought is that as long as the stelo is consistently high/low...ill be able to tell...and can manually figure out the deviation of the device. So i can "calibrate" the numbers by adding the average deviation when looking at the charts/results. Hope that makes sense!

But I downloaded the free dexcom clarity app and when I ran the reports in there, I can at least see my min and max readings for every hour and saw that I got down to 61-66. Not sure if they’re legit readings or maybe I was laying on it for an hour.

Have been wearing CGM since January, after learning my A1c had doubled from year before. I've been on Ozempic and Metformin, to get it down in a hurry, but eventually the side effects were formidable. Without, my BG ticked back up... so back on a lower dose, still can't get it into the double-digits. The nausea kept me from doing keto, to battle insulin resistance. Hopefully I can begin with the lower dose.

I finally decided to talk to my DR about a CGM. Insurance won't cover it because I don't inject insulin. I got the Libre 3. The first one was interesting but didn't show me too much I didn't already know. If I ate carbs my numbers spiked. Pretty simple. The first sensor I did a lot of checking with my regular meter and it was accurate. Since then (I'm on my 3rd now) I am seeing a mid morning rise up into the 120's. I don't know why it's doing it. I'm doing OMAD and very low carb and my last A1c was down to 5.8 after just a couple months. And according to the Libre my average over the last almost 6 weeks is right around 100 but I'd like to see it lower. I've lost about 50 lbs in the last few months but still need to lose a lot more but am stuck here for some reason. So much more to figure out with this.

Been wearing a Freestyle Libre 3 for 10 days trying to correct my pre diabetes and fasting blood sugar levels. I’ve been trying to understand why my fasting glucose lives over 100 and taking more than 18 hours to get below. I also noted spikes with exercise. Hi Doc! I've been wearing a G7 for ~120 days and I've been doing the 16/8 fasting plan for 60 days. I was on metformin, Jardiance and Ozempic all at the same time. I'm now off all of those. I tried a 72 hr fast for the first time, but yesterday after 50 hours I had to end my fast early because of low blood sugar level. I've watched some other videos that said your blood sugars could go low, but mine was consistently in the low 50's. I finally did a finger stick and it said my blood sugar was 45, so I ended the fast. That was yesterday. Things returned to normal right after that. My high today after a meal was 95 and my average for the day is 77. Am I hypoglycemic and if so, what causes that? I will have to say, the G7 has taught me everything I was doing wrong and completely changed my life. I think everyone should be able to wear one of these. They are truly amazing! Thanks, Chris

It sounds like your ketone level must have been high in order for you to not feel fatigued and light-headed and therefore your glucose level being low isn't an issue. That means you're in a healthy fat adapted state, also known as being metabolically healthy. While in that low blood glucose state with high ketones, it means that your body is using ketones as the fuel source and isn't dependent on glucose. There's no need to stop fasting as long as you feel good and that your ketones are high.
@ChrisThoreen
@ChrisThoreen 12 дней назад
@@lilyew4905 I don't think I was lightheaded, but I felt weird. Jittery? I'm pretty sensitive to low blood sugar since I had a seizure about fifteen years ago while sitting in a dentist chair. When they told me what had happened I asked them to check my blood sugar and it was 50. 45 scared the daylights out of me. Really not sure at this point what's going on.
