They are great eating fish also . Some people don't like it because they have a y bone in the filet but you can cut that out before you cook it or after you cook it it's very easy to pull right out especially in the big fish like what you caught. Congratulations

@KaliAndy2
@KaliAndy2 Год назад
braided line is good if fishing in weeds for sure. Depends on water and fish for too. Though I noticed with the thicker line I get way less bites if fish for trout in pristine, clear water in CA. Especially smaller rivers when flows are low. Can tell diff even between 4 to 8 lb line. I pulled out an 11lb rainbow earlier this year with 4 lb test. Just got to use the drag, tire them out first. Fish in WI yearly and in my favorite fishing lake water visibility is very low 3-4 ft. There don't matter between 6lb clear or 20 lb braided.

Nice fish!! Recent subscriber! Most people in the north, Great lakes, don't eat them but they are/can very good! Since you have to take them you should try them. Have plenty of paper towels!! Filet right down the spine cutting along the "Y-bone. Filet off the skin. After cleaning the cutting board. Cut along the Y-bone and you will be left with 3 roll like filets on each side. I slice them into round scalp pieces 1" to 1.5" thick and drop them in Coconut oil or butter. Add you favorite seasoning, splash of rum or white wine, or whatever you like. You can also bread them and drop them in grease. If kept cold on the water and after, they will have a similar texture as scalps but flavor closer to a walley. Very good!!

It's a very rare trout, and to this day, I regret not having it mounted, but I released it, to be caught another day. I have pictures though! Tell you the truth, I'm shocked that Pike are out in Nevada! I thought they were only up north. We call them "hammer heads" over here (Illinois) and we catch them up in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Minnesota. In fact, we've been to Ely, MN before. My husband and I are VERY competitive when it comes to fishing! Love it! Congratulations again!

What a beautiful pike!!!! Gorgeous catch. I live in Canada and they are my favorite fish to catch up here. They are underwater dragons. They just gulp everything up. When they are on the line, pike put up one of the best fights. They will swim to the bottom and drag. They will pull out the line; then immediately swim back the same direction they swam out. They love to jump and flail. Whipping the bait out as they swing back and forth in the air. They even play dead sometimes and then will take off without noitce. Should stop now. What a beauty. Definitely a trophy. Especially the one you got. Great job babying the pike back into the boat. We use metal leaders in Canada to help with protecting the fishing line. Impressive catch without a leader!!!! Totally understand......

I've done a lot of fishing in Michigan and they are monster pipes up there as well. Back in the '70s they were so abundant running up rivers that you could fish with a bow and arrow as well. I've caught them in excess of 3 ft. New subscriber that enjoys your channel thanks for all the work

My son Anthony told me about this channel, so I subscribed. He told me today, he's up there in Ely and he's going to that Lake to try some pike fishing. He brought along his GoPro, so we might have an upcoming video soon.😎🎣📹👍

Congrats on the pike. I've caught 2-36" pike and one 38" pike in Canada when I was a kid 45 years ago.

Great catch bud! It's great to see the relationship you have with your father! I never had a chance to have one with my dad, my mom took me away from him when I was 4, but for good reason. He was murdered when I was 7 years old, I'm now 43 with kids of my own. That's one bad ass fish!! Great video and thanks for sharing, can't wait to see your next one on lake mead.

Nice pike, congrats! Those are super common in Finland and other Nordic countries. Many folks don't appreciate pike but it's one of my favorite fish to catch.

That was a Super nice Pike, always nice when You get a catch of your Life! Now To take The Bull Elk of Your Life next . Keep up the Great content. And that Dove hunting brought back a ton of Great memories of me and My Dad hunting Dove and quail, I, grew up in Phoenix and were were surrounded by lots of Great places within a half hour drive, but now all of those are houses that are part of our Water problems. I,would trade all of those Houses for The Dove hunting and Water that they took away. And I, can't wait for The upcoming Elk hunt ! I've taken 2 Cow Elk by Bow but never filled a Bull Tag when I, was lucky enough to get drawn, but I, do have a Great story to be told but that's for another Camp Fire 🔥!

Hey brother!!! Long time since I’ve commented, and I’m on a different channel now that I’m a realtor!! Really love watching your videos, first started watching them when I was like 16 or 17 and I’m almost 22 now!! You guys really inspired me to learn about the wildlife we have in Nevada, and I’ve grown to appreciate and love this amazing and diverse state! As a matter of fact I have family in Ely and plan on visiting soon for some pyke fishing since cave lake is closed!!! Can’t wait to get up there and take my little cousins out. I went to willow beach today after seeing your videos, and it was the most amazing experience, I will be going back and I wouldn’t know about it if it wasn’t for you guys!! I literally bought a kayak after watching your most recent willow beach area. Also this year, after 3 years of applying, I finally drew tags for mule deer and antelope!!! Can’t wait to get out there with my dad and spend some quality time together. So thank you, this channel has helped shape my life and relearn my love for the outdoors. Really you guys saved me, I was pretty depressed for years. Started hunting; fishing, hiking, shooting, practicing with the bow, kayaking, camping, etc.. and I’ve been the happiest I’ve been in years. I’m even thinking about doing seasonal work in Alaska to get more outdoors experience! literally can’t wait to head out on a dirt road with nothing but a shotgun and the cottontails! This season is going to be a good one!! On my adventures, 5 miles out into the desert, I found a cave and inside of it was carved on the rock “no matter how barren, how empty, there is always beauty to be found” and as I turned around I looked out over the desert valley and truly fell in love with this place. Thanks guys, hope you never stop making videos!!

Good luck in Alaska. From little experience. My advice is research the area and workplace. Certain places are very isolated so getting along with all kinds of people/tolerate others gets you long ways.

It's rare to catch them that big in Canada unless it's getting close to winter time. And like you said, just getting them in the boat is almost impossible. They twist and turn, they will wrap around anything they can get around and they will break your line most of the time. That was a beautiful catch, congratulations. In Canada they call that a Jack!!

This! me and my mom fish Northern Pike through out the year up here but never anything this big and fat! I have hope for maybe one day but yeah, it's tough to hook monster pike, best times to fish for pike is usually right at sundown or early morning and the colder the water the better. ^^

Nice catch on 10 lb line👍 I'm from Manitoba Canada- we have 100,000 lakes and pike that size are a dime a dozen. Not bragging either, you would not believe the northern pike, walleye, cat fishing here...
