I don't get why bikers don't like these, maybe its not for their style but anyone getting out of a box and onto something that puts the wind in your hair and takes you out of a box on wheels seems like a good thing.

Most trike-haters are just in the forums. I have a base Can-Am Ryker 600 that I daily in a fairly bike-saturated area, and I get nods and waves from two-wheelers of all types when I'm out and about. IRL, people don't care, they're just happy to see someone cruising and enjoying themselves

I own one and it’s not a bike. It’s also not a trike. Trike has 2 wheels in back and one in front kind of like the hot wheels old school trikes that has pedals on it. Nevertheless much much safer than a bike and the bike community is beginning to slowly accept the Can Ams like long distance cousins do. Even Honda uses DCT automatics for their cruisers in 2 wheels. However those are also shunned upon by biker snobs. Pro tip: Don’t give a shift about what anyone else thinks. The best rides I have been on have been solo rides. I’m my own lead and it’s just me and the road and the Spyder. I will say maintenance can be expensive and not all mechanics will treat your bike like it’s their own unfortunately regardless where you take it in.

This is a f3s the S does stand for "sport" This model has more horsepower than the regular models when in sport mode it turns the nanny off and the traction control allowing you to drip through turns and basically go motor to tire. I drive this model every day to work and back and every kind of weather it's very stable although on major highways where you can haul ass it's better to have a windshield. You do countersteer through the turns and it handles great however it does take a little more arm power than on a standard two-wheel bike. It's super torquey through every gear except for 6th. The brakes are amazing and the Spyder is absolutely a blast to drive. I can ride two-wheel bike I don't like them but this service is perfect as a daily driver as it is seen easier, I don't have to walk it in traffic, it has true reverse, a parking break, and a trunk of I have to stop at the grocery store. A brand new one is way too pricey and you can find a used one for a very good price with hardly any miles. You forget about 40 miles to the gallon.

Hey TFL Bike! I own a '22 Spyder RTL and there are various reasons people get three wheeled bikes. I'm in Cheyenne and commute on it. I've done several trips to Estes Park as well. I'm open to visiting and talking about Spyders/Rykers.

Spyders are awesome! Completely different riding experience from a two wheeled motorcycle, but lots of fun and really comfortable. It'll take some miles to get used to it, but once you put a few hundred miles on it, you'll want one.

Love my 2022 F3-S! The biggest trouble that most Can-Am riders experience is with the dealers. They can be hit or miss. I have a pretty good dealer near me and I've been lucky with them. Other people in other locations aren't so lucky.

Your F3-S is awesome! 🤗💜 You are so right about the dealerships! I drive 250 miles when I need service because the best dealer for service here in PA (in my humble opinion) is on the other side of Pennsylvania! 😁

i'f you come from a motorcycle background the way this thing handle might seem weird, but when you come from quads they make a lot of sense, in my opinion the way a spyder or a ryker feel on pavement is very similar to the way an outlander or a renegade feel on packed gravel or dry hard dirt. (and that includes undeerseering into a ditch/fence if you get too carried away on tight corners.)
@412griffon
@412griffon 9 месяцев назад
Engine is from rotax family of in-line 3 cyl. the spyder uses a 1330 cc version of the 900 cc engine used on maverick sxs and ski-doo snowmobiles Watch out on tight curves that centrifugal force will get you! and that foot pedal for brakes when you are use to a motorcycle brake lever. 😀

Greatrydes on RU-vid has an f3s with 80k+ miles. Lots of content on his channel (he also has an f3t with 20k+miles). Was on the Triple Nickel in Ohio and had a group of Harleys right behind me when I got on that heavenly road. I only had 1 day experience riding Spyders and told myself that I'd pull off if I was impeading their ride. Not a problem. Left them behind in short order!

BRP make you sign a liability form when you purchase one of these & says that you’ll not ride it in cold conditions like snow! There’s some items underneath the bike that don’t do well if it’s below a certain temperature! So mine stays in my garage during winter until the spring appears & snow is gone. Awesome! These things are doing for competent street riders what ATCs were doing to dirt bikers in the 1980s: giving access to people who shouldn't be in bad environments, access to bad environments.

I just bought a 2022 Spyder F3 Limited Special edition around August of 2023 and love it so far! I have had the Yamaha V-Star 650, 950, Eluder over the past 15 years and was looking at a Slingshot but just couldn't justify the price and the storage space. I never looked at the Spyder and always said they were a joke and also being Can-Am I wasn't a fan. After looking at the Slingshot again, they have improved but the price and storage I just can't justify. These Spyder's are not cheap either. I think mine was around 28k new but found it for 22k used with 500 miles on it and got them down to 21k. I found mine on Facebook Marketplace. Went and rode it and was still iffy on it but bought it as I got a great deal. About the 3rd time out I learned to appreciate it and was happy with my decision. The Yamaha Eluder I had was so heavy and my short legs just wasn't a good fit. Especially trying to back it into my garage on a gravel driveway. The Spyder has reverse, almost enough power, nice not having to worry on gravel roads and balancing at stop lights. Fun to take on turns and is far better than I ever thought after getting used to it. I think it could have better technology for the prices but was upgraded in 2024 models and fixed most of that issue. Oil changes have two plugs and just odd having multiple o-rings and one goes in at an angle and odd oil filter. The engine is still under powered to me at 1330cc. I think it needs to be an 1800cc+ for the weight of it. Missing the brake lever was easy to adjust to the foot brake. Again after the 3rd time out I was already used to it. Mirrors could be better, but I got overlay that expanded the view that fixed them. You move around more if you push it into turns but getting off of it at the end of the day after being on it for hours I wasn't exhausted as riding a normal motorcycle and don't quit understand that as you work harder on it. New riders tend to oversteer. The steering is touchy and just lay your hands on the bars and push and pull with one arm/hand. It will pickup every dip and crevice in the road and want to follow it so it's more work to keep straight but at that same time keep it light on trying to steer it. Hard to explain in words. But I would say that it's a mix of a snowmobile, ATV, Motorcycle feel when riding. Give it time to get used to it if coming from a motorcycle and take it out at least 3 times to respect what it is.

There aren't too many of these in winter or 'off-road' conditions although I think it's a bit like riding a snowmobile. In one video I saw one climbing slippery hill in winter and was doing better than some cars. I think having a lot of weight on one driven wheel helped.

Great segment guys, can I ask please, what phone mount is that. As well though they make foot boards for comfort, you can actually rest the back of your foot for both the pilot and passenger, on the frame bar. Bike has to be ordered with the proper spring for the passenger if you will have an occasional rider, unless you go with an aftermarket.

As a traditional motorcyclist, I would very much like to get your impressions on the learning curve change over from what we know to this thing. What it feels like in all driving conditions and the weather you will have it in. 22K is a bit steep I think for what you have sitting there. Would like to get your impression if that thing feels worth it to you? Would like to get other 3 wheel comparisons to it. What would you prefer to ride as a 3 wheel option vs this thing? I have been toying around with the idea of a 3 wheel machine for a few months, but do not know anyone that has 1 personally to get 1st hand information from. MPG, while not a primary consideration, it would be worth noting. Do you feel planted or does it feel like a death trap? lol
@CapitanDart
@CapitanDart 9 месяцев назад
I have owned a Spyder since the first year model. They are snowmobiles with wheels. They do not handle like a normal bike but they are extremely planted on the ground. They drive and steer like a four wheeler. You still need to lean into sharper curves, but you turn the handlebar to turn like a fourwheeler/snowmobile. It is nearly impossible to compare these to typical trikes with one steering wheel. I take mine up the tail of the dragon in the smokey mountains all of the time and I feel perfectly safe in it on those curves at speed. All of the ones that I have drove get about what I would expect out of a nearly liter bike. The road presence of something this size makes me feel more noticeable and safer in traffic. I have drove traditional trikes and I feel 10x safer on a spyder in curves, there have been a few times I have raised one wheel off the ground but it pops right back down, it's too heavy to come up more than inch or so.

I’d wait until end of the year sales to get one. My local dealership is offering these for 18k and change with them qualifying for the current Can Am financing offer. That sounds better price wise, especially with the newer ‘24 model having a jump in price.

They are very planted on the road and much safer too. They are practically impossible to tip over with all the safety features they have like stability control, anti-lock (brembo) brakes and traction control. There's a small learning curve from a 2 wheeler but once you get the hang of it, they are a blast and very comfortable. I own a 23 Spyder F3-s just like in this video and absolutely love it. There's also the Rykers which are more entry level but stick to Spyders if you travel on highways and like comfort.

Just watched your excellent aluminum trailer video, two questions please: If you did it over again, would you get a steel trailer about the same size? Also, why don't you just put the motorcycles in the back of your truck, I mean, isn't that the reason to own a truck?

Don't buy the hype that it snows like MT, MN or Alaska😂, it's No wonder they have never Seen anything like it before. Colorady don't get deep enough snow to have them around! Besides the snow pact, it's near required one have a funny accent to drive one dontchya knows😂
