i love that people geeking out about mechanical keyboards is driving down the price and diversifying the market.. i bought a pok3r II when it first came out with cherry blues and backlit.. i soldered all of it.. now im looking to replace and really appreciate these reviews.. i love tactile but i wanna go like silent tactile..and definitely hot swap. thank you LTT/SC crew for the reviews
I like how keychron never settled even if they were on top of their game. They came out with more enthusiast level boards with their Q series and made them in all sizes and layouts
totally, such a money grab product. like, besides the adjustable feet thingy and branding, there's no novelty that sets this apart from a Q1 Pro which is actually cheaper. I hope this doesn't become a trend for keychron
This is pretty cool. I really like my K3 v2. Only issue is the battery would cycle even though it was on the cable setting killing the wireless functionality after a year
The large bottom case usually tends to reflect the ping frequencies so force break and even some butyl are needed to kill the ping entirely. I generally don't prefer this sound profile but you can probably mod it to shape the sound. The 200-300 mech key space is super competitive now
LOVE my Keychron Q6 Special Edition!! If this is anywhere near as good as the Q6, it's probably awesome!! EDIT: Apparently mine is sold out now...glad I got one!!
It's ridiculously expensive. Not worth money imho. I have Cidoo v87 which is over $50 cheaper. Sounds identical to this one. Could just use more switch options by default.
It’s just a OnePlus themes Q2 (Pro) with a angle adjuster. For me not worth the money as I have a Q2 myself with custom keycaps and Akko CS Sponge Switches.
I love OnePlus. I'm still using my OnePlus 7 Pro after 4 years. However, I'm not sure I'd buy this keyboard. It's not very appealing to look at for my tastes and $220 seems a bit too premium pricing. Glad to see OnePlus breaking into the keyboard market though. 👍
8:53 "Double-gasket" is what Keychron calls a combination of gasket mount and gaskets between the top and bottom case, which would usually be called force-break mod.
@@qwerty4561 keychron isnt doing the manufacturing itself, there are other manufacturers who do that, it was just the design work from keychron, which wasnt that great, designing a custom keyboard isnt extremely hard, but you need to have experience in the community, to even have a chance of designing something that isnt complete dogshit, sadly keychron just recolored a q1 pro
C'mon Plouffe you were giving off the whole "it's ok, but I wouldn't buy one" vibe the entire video. Then you said "it's pretty good" for $250??? You could build build, or buy, better boards for that amount these days.
The difference between a q1 and k2 are night and day tho. It may have the same switches and key caps but it’s totally worth it especially cause they run sales pretty often. A 160 dollar modded q1 legitimately is as good as a 300 dollar gmmk pro
Good for the price......... what? It's 240$ and the sound for that price is kinda crap. Get a NuPhy ffs, half the price and A LOT better sound. I wouldn't want a 200+ prebuild to lube and mod myself.
this is very overpriced imo. for the same price u get a zoom75, which has more built quality. but u got to wait for it for a year so thats that lol. plus i think that keychron itself has lots of better options to go for.
That's the issue with most keyboards that are reviewed on RU-vid. They maybe be 150 but you have to pay 60+ shipping from China and either go in a group buy and wait a year or try and buy it before it sells out. Keychron has US vendors like Divinikey. You can order on Monday and get it before the end of the week with U.S. shipping prices.
major turn off for any keyboard, is when the board lights up, but not the characters on the keys. To me, the entire point of LEDs is to see they keys. So when the keys arent shine through, its an instant pass for me.
Lol switch the key caps to ones with shine through its like 15 bucks for a set of pudding key caps but most ppl that spend 200 plus on a keyboard are more looking for sound and feel than rgb
this is one ugly ass keyboard.. that knob looks like an old 70s shower knob. could it be any uglier? seriously. If you wanted a old school colors scheme why not go real vintage and pick up an IBM 101 buckling switch keyboard. They're freaking awesome.
What's wrong with PBT? Plouffe, you're just reiterating the superficial, trending information you hear from the custom keyboard community. Just because they're PBT doesn't mean it's bad. Ever hear of PBTfans? Probably not because all you do is reiterate whatever superficial information you hear 👎👎
great now we can have their crappy cost savings in a keyboad. Cant wait. Never settle means you will buy the same thing from a better brand in 6 months.
I really dislike when he talks about keyboards because he sounds like a picky child as if it should be the most perfect thing in the world or it's not worth it.
What's the point of hot swapping? It's not that you change key caps or switches often and it's not a mission critical job to do it while being connected
Why would they include home but not include end? Same goes for any 75% that choses not to use the full 6u height of the layout on the far right row; 65% is a bit more understandable if a knob is included but at the same time just alter the top row so that the knob isn't interfering with the columnar nav cluster. I do like the idea of the bar. So many keyboard have feet with terrible adjustment angles and typically they won't have rubber on them or only on the taller feet if there's two sets, whereas this not only has a better level of adjustment but it also has rubber at every possible adjustment, surprisingly the flat feet really aren't that great in comparison. I just wish they had a detent system or something to lock the bar in place if it does ever become loose, not to mention high friction hinges can become problematic when adjusting; it took us long enough to figure that out with laptops and even still the balance of friction in stability v adjustability is too fine for most manufacturers to care outside of this being a 'premium' feature. Though, I'd also like to see a bar at the front, some people prefer using a wrist pad, some people have standing desks with a lower surface or keyboard tray, the amount of extra adjustability is justifiable for next to no extra cost, whereas finding solutions around personal requirements if you don't have a standard setup are either expensive and/or jank; keyboard manufacturers could really be doing various niches some justice while not really increasing manufacturing costs, the only products I know of that have this level of adjustability are split ergos that can be tented but those also come with the niche tax.
I Was horrified when i opened the package for the new keyboards I ordered online and find a smartphone instead, glad they didn't suffer the same trauma as me.
So I just got this keyboard with the marble-mallow keycaps and I have to say this is one of the best keyboards I have ever owned! And I'm saying that coming from a Keychron Q1 pro. First off, it's no where near as tall as the Q1, so you get all the benefits of a Keychron Q1 but without the height and second, the keycaps are just a dream to type on. They have a very distinct textured feel to them. I would say its like typing on a soft piece of cardboard (texture wise) - and the summer breeze linear switches are completelty silent relative to Keychron red linear switched. OMG!!!! Is this keyboard the shit! Highly recommend for anyone looking for a top shelf high quality keyboard. aesthetics are top level and only sweeten the deal!!! 👍👍👍👍
I didn't know that they made that! 🤯 I'm reminded of how I use a FEKER IK75 as my writing desk keyboard (for reduced-distraction writing sessions), and chose that because I wanted a wireless GMMK Pro. In fact, it even fits into the official GMMK Pro carrying case!
I also got k8 pro and it's great. But the keycaps starting breaking at the same point. They snap at the bottom side of mounting hole which I think is very weak point. Can you guide me with getting keycaps for this keyboard? Thanks
So just like every other keyboard; "different" keycap "material" and different colorway. Awesome news! I'll 100% ditch my sub-50$ membrane for the extra "features" this one has @ 219$ /s 😂 What a fucking joke. Im gonna design my own keyboard, slap a lead weight in it, and then tell the Alibaba representative to change the color of a random number of keys to a random color. Then I'll charge a premium for it and make 190$ in profit on every sale.
Looks okay just not for Gaming but for typing it's Good just for typing.... One Plus makes Phones, TV's, Tablets, and Keyboard next is a Car lol... It may be better then the Apple Car...
I've got a massive desk and dual 27" monitors. No interest in a small TKL keyboard. Give me more macro keys, programmable knobs, and a screen with diag info for my machine (cpu/ram usage, temps, fps, etc.)!
Honestly, it's such a stupid OnePlus move to completely ignore the industry-wide colour coding standard of red=linear, brown=tactile, blue=clicky. Now they're just being stubborn for no reason.
nope, the usb C to C won't work MOST peripherals that are usb C need to go into a USB A don't believe me go try it. on phones this is not a thing, but keyboards and mice, and many other things, controllers etc. WILL NOT work C to C, even though they have ONLY a C port on them.
Interesting to note the Mainstream company are muscling into this niche market. Wonder when APPLE will start offering "World first tactile mechanical keyboard"....hahahaaa
This has to be one of the most old school looking products released in this decade. Curious who the targeted audience for one of these is. Aren't there just so many better options out there for gaming keyboards?
