I think his behavior would have been different if the kid had been entitled and just ran away or refused to take responsibility. I think the kids behavior of being responsible and really sorry for it and immediately owning up to his mistake and speaking to the person he hurt himself would cause most adults to behave like this and be patient and forgiving with the kid. But I do know just as many adults would have flipped out and been really angry over it no matter how the kid behaved. And I think it's just a societal problem.

I already knew about this as I got a call from a friend at the school who said a few kids were throwing snowballs at kids and those bullies never got into trouble. So I told her to stay in her winter clothes and I got my jacket on and walked outside with her behind. As soon as I could I picked up some snow and got her in about the stomach with a snowball. The fight was on. That was the only hit I scored and she just destroyed me. Always had so much fun with her as she was so very intelligent and respectful. That was in 2007. I do. A nice young man came to my door last week with $7 asking me if he could borrow my lawn mower. He was maybe 16 years old. He wanted to make his lawn look nice for his mother before she came home, as his mower was broken. No only did not take his money, I fixed his mower, showed him what to if it fails again, and we ended up mowing his lawn together. He wasn't sure what he was doing. I showed him exactly how to make his rows and make nice clean lines. After, he thanked me and asked again if I wanted his money. I asked him how much he could give me. He told me that he only had $7, but he could get more when his mother got home. I told him to keep it, and order his mom take-out so she didn't have to cook when she got home. He asked me why I was being so nice to him, and I replied, "when you do someone a favor expecting to profit, you're not being nice, you're doing business. That's not how I treat my neighbors". He almost cried. I topped off the fuel in his lawnmower and told him to knock on my door if he ever needs my help with anything. Good men do still exist. It's rare, be were out there still.

@@Crimson.S.57 getting angry isn't necessary to teach that actions have consequences. In this scene, the kid already understands that he owes the man a new windshield and that he has to earn the money to buy it for him. He doesn't need a reminder. If anything, the issue is that the man doesn't take him up on it because he's impressed with the boy's skill. I know a boy who was pretty much ruined when his town let him off of a criminal charge because they wanted him to be able to compete on the high school football team. He learned that as long as he could throw a ball really well, he could do whatever he wanted without consequences. You can imagine how well that served him after he couldn't compete anymore.

The point you are missing is the kid is hitting a rock several HUNDRED feet. A major league baseball field is 320 feet along the foul line from home plate, and 400 feet from home plate to the center field wall. Note, some stadiums are bigger. It's not the accuracy, it's the distance that is impressive. This kid could be a batter for major league baseball now. @@unndunn1 You’re welcome. It bothers me that people post a scene from a movie and say nothing about it.

For sure old school people would be like this. This new generation is no where close to it. They would have to be reborn and raised by a village of old folks like him.
