They work great for elderly in cognitive decline too! Get a waterproof one that doesn’t look kid-like (Xplora X5 play watch works great in Canada). This was the most useful tool in the early stages for us- especially since my elderly parent loved to walk and continued to walk and wander in the early stages. I could see the historical data of gps to keep an eye on their routes- when things started looking off I knew they could no longer go out alone without fear of them getting lost.
