I hope everyone’s having a great day here is a new technique I have been loving!
When you start hitting the knee bar over and over your partner falling back to defend will be common. You will need to just start looking for the straight ankle instead when they turn back.
If you are a white belt that can not do knee bars yet than start looking more for the straight right away. The straight ankle that will always be legal at most tournaments.
The key to this technique is really getting a bite down on the hip so you do not get smashed down. Once you get that good bite it should be game over!
P.S no liabilities

Think you Chad . I am a knee shield player by necessity .I am 54 and just got my black belt. 8 years ago i had my left hip replaced .because of this i was forced to play either closed guard . Which is limited for me or a hlf guard and knee shield game .G-roll , dogfight , deep half , lock down are all in the arsenal .However I never ever thought to attack the legs from this position ..I am thoroughly impressed and very grateful to you for sharing this . Thank you . Ossssss

Rey G - I’m thoroughly impressed with you getting your black belt at 54! I’m currently a skinny, 41 year old white belt. So, from where I’m sitting, that is a great accomplishment. I’ll remember that when I’m getting crushed by these big young guys. Hopefully one day I’ll get there too.

@@samphillips7194 unfortunately I stopped training once pandemic hit. Tried doing the zoom thing for a year with my kids. Then when things opened back up it got very busy with 4 kids in soccer and me coaching two of them. I still watch jiu jitsu videos but haven’t made it a priority to train. As it has been in the back of my mind. Been thinking of getting at least my sons back in it at the start of next school year. I’m glad you messaged. Got me thinking more about it. Oss.

We have the same body type... I am tall and skinny like you with long legs. Have been training in gi since last August.. Just went to a no gi practice and sparred no gi for my first time, and got my ass kicked. Realized how much I really don't know without gi. It is a whole different battle, and it felt very unnatural to me. After watching this video, I feel I have a better understanding of no gi, and a new move I can use. Thanks homie, you earned a subscriber!

Thanks, Chad. Is there a backup plan in case the guy reacts to the arm going under and around his leg by sprawling or just straightening the leg back? I often get that reaction in the beginning. Am I telegraphing it too much? What do you do if that happens?

Awesome video, thanks so much! I've tried this a few times and it's been working great. What do you do if your training partner tucks the foot you're trying to pull under his butt then sits with his weight onto the foot you're trying to grab? That's happened to me a few times...
@ChadtheBeastHardy
@ChadtheBeastHardy 6 лет назад
Remo Heugh for an example watch the video at 1:24 this is one way to deal with them tucking that foot in. I just bumped him with my hips and pulled out on his knee with two hands to get him to fall over. This will off balance your training partner and make them fall to their hip so you can start attacking the legs. Hope this helps!

What would you say are your percentages of submissions with leg locks, chokes and arm/shoulder locks?
@ChadtheBeastHardy
@ChadtheBeastHardy 6 лет назад
Ed McGuigan i would say 45% triangles. 35% leglocks 20% armlocks. Just off the top of my head haha it really just depends on what I’m looking for that day.

When I was doing this it felt like I had no control over the persons body/ stopping them from just stacking into you csuse theres no foot on the hip- id love to see how you control them without the foot on hip
@Joshtarrant1

Yeah he gives up way too much space without controlling them first. Craig jones does a good breakdown of this, calls it Z guard something

So I've been looking everywhere but I can't seem to find anyone doing this. Can't this same setup be used to set up inside sankaku?
@ChadtheBeastHardy
@ChadtheBeastHardy 6 лет назад
Remo Heugh yup! It works perfect to get into inside sankaku
@remoheugh9095
@remoheugh9095 6 лет назад
I thought as much, I often find myself in that position. It's strange I haven't found anyone showing this entry into inside sankaku. It really opens up the half guard game: take the back, kimura, leg attacks, etc.
@myk702
@myk702 6 лет назад
Yo I was trying this today against a dude that was much better than me. He would kill it by just smashing forward. I would still have the grip on his leg but he would pretty much be sitting heavy on it. Am I just not creating enough space and keeping him off balance by not pushing his head away enough?
@ChadtheBeastHardy
@ChadtheBeastHardy 6 лет назад
myk702 yup, you have to really create space by pushing off his head. Otherwise they can crush you down and pass. That hand on the neck/shoulder will save you. also watch and see that I am scooting my hips back when I push away to I have the room to throw my leg over. Hope this helps you out🤙

Hm, possibly. It’s never happened to me before though. Maybe if it was someone really big. I grab the foot before he gets a chance to do so.

BJJ is such that there are always liabilities or counters. Even counters to counters and so on. For example you purposefully put yourself in a what is called a dope mount position (which sucks quite much) and if the opponent is very versed in it they can make your life miserable. However your speed, inversion, reaching for the heal and such play a huge factor in pulling off this move quite effectively. In conclusion, I would always recommend getting out of your comfort zone and practice. This is a very good and sneaky move.

I didn't hear anywhere in the video a mention of MMA. But it was nice of you to point it out just in case. Also, if you were so good in this move (which would mean effective and fast) I see no reason not to pull it off in MMA. Look at what Ryan Hall is doing in MMA. People said leg locks or 50/50 wouldn't work. Yet he is proving them wrong
