It always blows my mind that as soon as parts go in an ugly office PC green puke motherboard people seem to think it's worthless. The ryzen chip is worth the cost by itself and you got bonus parts with that. Nice find.
Sorry for replying to an old comment, but there's actually a catch there sometimes. Some of these chips are vendor-locked. They can't go to a board from a different manufacturer. Obviously not all of them, but it's better to check around before you buy parts coming from one of these ex-enterprise prebuilts. That said, most people simply buy the whole PC, so I guess it's fine. Another problem would be the limited space for add-ons (like a graphics card) and the similarly limited PSU. 210W is actually pretty decent for a prebuilt this size. HP's SFF prebuilt come with a mere 180W PSU. So you do have to get a little creative there.
Pls give me a Lenovo think center mini desktop featuring intel core I9 14th gen CPU. it will mean alot for me, bcz presently i cant afford one like this. if you want to send i will give my addrress . advance love from Bangladesh.
I "rejuvenated" a little Dell SFF tower recently, they *really* engineer this stuff to task and the specs are all lopsided. Was fun to see it actually play games at decent speed tho. It's gonna be an emulation box for me eventually.
I have the same model and did the same modding as your s. Only difference is I had the Ryzen 2400G with Vega 11 Graphics and had a Samsung NVME SSD and a 2.5" 512GB HD. I added in the RX 6400. I upgraded the CPU to a Ryzen 3400G (so that I can use Winodws 11) which I got from my daughter's PC since she upgraded to a 3600X. I also upgraded the RAM to 16GB. Plus swapped out the 2.5 GB 512HD with a 1TB SATA SSD that I used on an old laptop that sadly died and was unrepairable. All in all was a fun project for my personal low end gaming rig for Diablo and Starcraft.
Great video, I like that you show the full process, including the pre upgrade performance and the case mod. Don't worry about the FPS jump in the tomb raider, it always jumps at the start of that scene and then drops as the scene moves down to the village. The stuttering in fortnite is because you have become CPU bottlenecked. Ideally you could upgrade the CPU to a slightly newer 6 core however that would require some research to ensure that the OEM bios will support what ever CPU you want to put in. I would leave it as it is, as it's a greater starter gaming pc.
I recently picked up a used but in fine condition Lenovo M725s SFF PC for $130 on eBay. It came with a Ryzen 5 2400G CPU and a good Samsung 256GB NVME M.2 drive. I installed another 8GB Samsung ram stick and added a 1TB Crucial BX500 SSD as an additional drive, both on sale for a total of $83. I also added a ColorPower RX 6400 for a bit more than I wanted to pay ($150) but it was the only modern GPU that would fit without modding the fold down drive assembly. It's actually a pretty nice set up for a used office PC. It runs the few games that I play occasionally pretty well at over 60 fps with full 1080p on most and 900p on BF 1 and BF V, medium settings.
@@nickfury1279 The motherboard is a Lenovo OEM and it is locked down to some extent. From what I understand the latest chip set/bios for the M725s may support up to a Ryzen 5 3000 series, and that's a maybe. ...and remember the factory power supply is a low wattage one, probably 210Watts. So you'll want to have a lower power draw CPU in order to run a low profile GPU.
I never have played COD Warzone but I doubt very much you would be happy running it on this PC even if you added a Ryzen 5 2600, a RX 6400 and 16GB of ram.@@madhureshminoshi4272
Thanks for the great video. I just ordered one of these computers (3700X). I am going to be putting in an Nvidia RTX A2000, so this video was a great relief to me as the modification is so easy. I know my notch will be a bit bigger. Great Job. Thanks again.
I put the A2000 in, yet I had to cut out the notch a bit larger. I added some U channel door trim on the area that I cut, so that the sharp metal edges would not touch the video card. It works great. I would like to upgrade to a 5800x3D, but I am not sure if it will work with the motherboard that is in there. @@DLMtechgarage
Funny I used to flip some dell's with I7's like this. I was getting those units for $50 putting around 125-150 into them and selling for 400ish. Stopped once covid started due to the fact that I couldn't get affordable GPUs and I am down now because in my area most businesses went to thin clients fed from a server. Glory days it was fun and gave some people a cheap decent gaming desktop 1080p
Remember the day I got my 6400 low profile?? I called you and drew right away!!! I swear it’s a RX 570 but LP!! We need more LP cards in the world Louis!!! Great Video!!
I think earlier in the video you were talking about the XFX version which I’ve looked into and seems decent. Have one of these kind of ITX OEM machines with an i7 4790 but haven’t really got around to it. If you really wanted to turn that PC into an actual beast and you have an unlimited budget I suggested Ryzen 5 3600x and Nvidia A2000 LP ($299, Amazon) workstation card is equivalent to an RTX 2060 in games. You might want to cut a bigger hole though since it’s a multi slot card xD
The XFX version of the 6400 probably would have fit without cutting, too. It's a lot shorter, but does have a slightly worse cooler. The cooler could end up being important in a case with so little airflow, I suppose.
rx6400 lp - thats one of the cards Im considering getting for my sff computer - seems to get some pretty good reviews and from what I can tell, is a decent step up from some of the other usual cards ya might consider sticking into one these small computers.
The rx6400 is also made for pci 4.0. It will run in pci 3.0 but it loses an average of 13-15 percent in performance. Still a great card for low-budget builds like these.
Great video, thanks for the steps + costing. Around 11:45-12:45 what magic prevented the marker from staining your T Shirt? Also, a bot of masking tape around the area that you cut.. to prevent any injuries.. at a later time .. would that be recommended? I would have filed the sharp edges if any and then taped, but that's just (the overcautios) me.
I really wanted to do a build in one of these and ran into the same issue with the GPU, so I opted for a HP Z240 instead since I needed the hard drive. For Fortnite, check to see how much VRAM you're using. Could be problematic if you're near the VRAM limit, and dropping textures down, as well as some other settings, could smooth it out.
really wonder what's the chipset for the mainboard ? if it's b550 you could change the cpu to R3 3100 to enable pcie 4.0, seeing as you're using RX6400 which should runs at pcie 4.0 x4
If i wanted to change the cooler on on this, what mounting hardware would work, would it be AMD or an intel cooler mount, or is it some wierd lenovo style?
me and the wifes first name and last name, did it cause she was the one that snuck around me and released my first video i recorded pushing me to do this.
I have a question, i get a m75s Ryzen 5 2400g, i want get other 8 ram and the rx 6400, but in the page of xfx say minimum psu is of 350w, not is danger use the 210w?
I got almost the same pc case but a xeon cpu instead what I did is bought a rx 570 in ebay for 50 bucks and I cut the pc case side of the gpu slot and made fit it doesn’t close the case but got a gaming pc for 100bucks
Hello friend, I wanted to ask you if your power supply is 210w? i have that same font and i want to try using that graphics card, thanks a lot and great video!
Hello . Sorry for writing this question on your YT channel but can i put a rtx 3060 ti or RX 6750 XT with i5-7400 for 1440p Ultra-Wide monitor ? Can i trust the results from pc build/com ? and if a 500 psu it s enough . Thanks !
I would go with a 650w to play it safe, but that should be a fair combo. the 7400 might bottlneck it and an i7 7700 would be better. You can trust the result from their.
you can clone the old drive to the new driver, downolad windows to a usb and install it, as far as the key, they get linked to the board and windows detects it from their.
wouldn't 1650 super low profile be better choice considering the PCIE 3.0 limitation on 6400XT which requires 4.0?? Anyhow, Like the sleeper PC.... :) I had one back in the days with IMB similar class tho the casing was alot heavier & chunky to boot... So I kinda enjoy this vid for what it worth... Thanks 🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻
I dont know unless you are really worried about cooling I would have taken the inner panel out and just let everything loose inside. Rather than cutting it
Two questions 1. The wattage on these power supplies are 210w. Is that really enough for even one additional video card? 2. Are those PCIE 4.0 sots or 3.0 slots? 3. Has anyone attempted to use a AMD Ryzen 7 5700G CPU in one of these? 4. Since there is integrated graphics in the CPU; does it also work in tandem with the dedicated graphics card? Also side note, it has M.2 slots so you can use those instead of a SSD / HDD
1) it is for the lp gpu's 2) pcie 3 3) I did and it would not work 4) it can work but only for a secondary monitor but not for any performance gains. I went with a SSD cause it was what I had in stock appreciate the questions!!
@@DLMtechgarageI got an AsRock Intel A310 Low Profile, had to do the same cut mod, but the computer doesnt seem to post with the GPU installed. I guess the A310 is too much for the 210W PSU? I'm looking into Flex ATX PSUs but none of them seem to support 12VO motherboards :( Any idea?
Yo i copped an m710s without doing much homework in gpu dimensions because im an idiot but you think i could fit that same gpu in there with the same cutting mod? Or maybe even an rtx a2000 if i wanted to go a bit further? I sae a vid of another guy fitting that gpu in another sff lenovo office pc
@@DLMtechgarage ok so i actually ended up putting a 6400 in there after doing a similar cut as in this video. Its running pcie 3 with i7 7700 and 16 g ddr4 2400 ram and i got avg 42 fps halo infinite on low settings and on 3d mark night raid i got 26393 does this performance sound right for this build? Would i be able to play any other game on this too if i dont mind low settings and if i wanted better performance should i upgrade gpu or cpu first
@@spiritofthetallhills2037 best gpu options are the 1650 or rtx a200... they are pricey though but run better. the rex6400 suffers as it needs pcie gen 4 support and looses performance if its not in a gen 4.
@@DLMtechgarage i think ill go with an a2000 after a while as i heard that the 1650 runs about the same as the 6400 on pcie 4 so its not as big of an upgrade. Gonna try get my moneys worth out of the 6400 first tho and use it for a couple months maybe uprade later this year. Theres also a 12 gig version of the a2000 but im wondering if it will be overkilll for this although vram requirements seem to be getting pretty high. New star wars jedi game seems to recommend 8 gigs
That stutter in Fortnite after adding the RX 6400 is because the 3200G is a major bottleneck for that card. Definitely worth upgrading to a Ryzen 5 3600 or even a 5600 (if the motherboard/bios supports 5000 series) its basically an Xbox One sized gaming PC.
hello there i have a doubt . i have a pc ( lenovo m720sff ; 512gb sdd , i7 8700 3.20ghz) since alot of gt gpus bottle neck my pc . is it possible to put gtx 1660 low profile .
What Abt rx5500 I can’t seem to find low profile version of this gpus in my country . If u mind can u help me tell which gpus might fit and not. Bottleneck i 7 8700 thanks ❤
Fort stutters and is lower fps the first few games till it optimizes all the shaders and loads all the textures etc. After a few games itll have that saved and play way better.
Honestly, all dual channel does for you is turn crap into crap + 10 fps (figuratively speaking, and only as far as iGPU). For sure always have two sticks if possible, but if it made that much of a difference, manufacturers wouldn't sell them with 1 stick instead of 2. I'd be more worried about how the iGPU on Ryzen usually steals 2GB of ram so you'd be at 6 GB if you had 8 GB. I wouldn't consider the computer in this video worth putting more than 16gb in. Anyone who has ever in their life had a discrete GPU that had it's own faster graphics memory, an iGPU will never be OK, or enough for you, it's not a video card.
@@itstheweirdguy you are completly right ;p, it will never be an full gpu, but i'm right aswell the merely 10 fps differance that you talk about, can make the differance playable/unplayable, and dont forget the 1% lows on fps they gonna get higher too. Atleast on older architecture i dunno about new, thats why i watch and compare. higher bandwith ram could be the differance making factor this time i've heard about 6000mhz? 7000mhz ?
@@DLMtechgarage well, I must apologize! I was going over my notes and found that I'm a big fat liar. somehow, I said 7925. but, I have 7525 in my notebook. grrrrrr. the reason that I was doing that is because I've noticed a somewhat significant drop in scores. 1st test was 7525. test #2 7048, test #3 7032, test #4 7004. the only thing that I changed between 1 and 2,3,4 was an "upgrade", to windows 11. test 1 had a max fps of 588.2. 2 was 566.5, 3 was 567.8, 4 was 567.3. so, an approximate loss of 20 max fps between test1 and tests2,3,4. I'm going to try to figure out hoe to go back to windows 10 for retesting. these are done with Super Position Unigine 2.0 Heaven.
for having xp on other systems you didnt fix the position of the cpu cable that its right above the ram slots no only a gc fix all its a limited computer with all lock up
You can buy new thinkcentre M70s i5 14600 for 800 with 310 watt. Interesting to know if it fits like lp 4060 🙂 Why bother with gaming pc if you can buy a thinkcentre for 1200 all in?
If you defrag and optimize your HDD, you will be surprised how well you can play any game with no stutters, but people don't think about this, they only install games leaving a 50% fragmentation and thinks the drive is trash just because SSD exists.
yea, its terribly when you go to sell the pc, the customer wants to see the game and then notices the stutters and asks about it.... even on my higher end build it does it.... I have seen that break a deal... personally hate the game lol...
