I was just in shock at how persistent they were when doing it. I kind of respect it, but only because I could feel all my brain's grey matter disintegrating while watching it.

the first match is just soooo high level, but too high level for chat to understand, so they thought blue. the next match they see a sick sidewalk, something they do understand, and now THIS is the high level tekken. dont ever change, chat.
10:25 t8 is my first real tekken outside of dabbling, and i know how much i had to learn and how difficult it was for me to get to purple. it is wild to see this kind of gameplay in that rank as well. my thoughts are, there are dif ways to climb ranks, and it seems like a couple of those ways dont even include tekken fundies.
The character you play is a huge component to it. Purple ranks is such a mixed bag because you can get there with a lot of characters just by piling on offense, setups, strings, and frame traps without working on fundimentals and defense. At the same time, this style of play is more encouraged around red ranks because defense becomes exponentially harder as players apply their offense in a more mindful way. Getting to purple ranks with strong defense and fundimentals, or just with a character that can't abuse these things, is very hard, and that makes the skills and knowledge used in purple extremely varied.

Yeah, like I said at the end of that game, the Hwoarang was not bad at all for purple. The Alisa I was (and still am) concerned for, but the Hwoarang ended up getting caught in the crossfire because of it.
