for anyone concerned about air in the loop, those visible tubes on the top aren't even connected to the watercooling, those seem to be purely for show, at 11:10 you can see that the cooling block is connected directly to the radiator, with the actual cooling pump probably inside the block

if you've followed the Minisforum mini PCs a bit they had a unit (EM680-EM690 I think) that was offered with a 15-28w 6800U CPU or 45W (6900H or HX) CPUs. The 45W ones get hot easily with any sort of overclocking while the 28W one does okay in that form factor. That's a "case" for liquid cooling modification and this Geekom offering. Definitely not as small as the Mac mini and other 1 liter-ish NUC systems but it looks cool and for some people that (and not causing desk inferno) is all that matters.

I don't think a custom air-cooling solution is any cheaper then that. You do realize these are custom PCBs (except the mxm gpu, tho I'm pretty sure these things are still hella expensive) so the cost is already pretty high. Watercooling allows them to just run flexible tubes instead of solid heat pipes. An surprisingly, I don't think i9+4060 laptops are much cheaper? Except notebooks I don't think there would be any reason to have this combination too...

Wow, they actually put some thought into that. I'm almost tempted to buy one, but it would just sit on the bookshelf in all its design beauty.

Great engineering and it looks the part, this would be more down to what someone wants their PC looking like and versatility because the small form factor vs how it performs vs price. I love the look of it

There is a distinct lack of ventilation, the liquid loop MIGHT be able to bruteforce it to "acceptable" temperatures, but I'm guessing it could be waaaaaay better.
@Sgt_SealCluber
@Sgt_SealCluber 6 дней назад
And after the video, not have easy access to the fan and rad for cleaning on top of sub-par ventilation means that these are going to start overheating badly in the future.

Genuinely the most exciting system that I've seen in a long time. Going to be swapping my laptop for a Chromebook and a desktop system. Was planning on building my own, but this thing is just so cool.. Hope that air visible in the loop isn't why temps are so high.

that REALLY WAS a VERY COOL engineering job! The machine was pretty sweet in the performance department too, but I'm more fascinated with the desig7n that was put into it... THANK YOU FOR SUCH A COOL VIDEO DAWID!

Was that a hiccup? Additionally, one dead 120mm fan, kills the entire system.
@max_uaminecraft1827
@max_uaminecraft1827 6 дней назад
I mean that would also apply to any minipc or laptop on the market. Well most which have only one fan at least.
@kulilin3104
@kulilin3104 6 дней назад
@@max_uaminecraft1827 I was referring to how it's almost impossible to get to that one fan to replace it if it stops working. For a $1700 mini PC, it's a pretty glaring issue.

I think the person who doesn't mind spending so much extra for that form factor, is the sort of person who has a room big enough to where that form factor wouldn't be needed/would look silly.

Tecno is actually a B-list smartphone brand (sister brand of Infinix, both brands are well known in the Middle East, Africa and South America mainly). They are branching out quite a bit here.

I'm not experienced with water cooling at all, but I don't think all those bubbles in the loop are very good for the cooling.

The perfect usecase for such a double- sided waterblock. Almost like the one LTT sold off :) Good design, I think the 4060 is also the mobile version like the CPU. It has nice packaging, of course the little 120mm radiator and fan can get quite hot but its not like a normal laptop that screams its fans out to keep under 90C. And of course they need to make it easier to clean the radiator, dust is gonna get in there and lower its efficiency over time. Also the loop seems to have alot of air in there, a fillport on top of the radiator would have been better to manage that. The pump is probably very cheap too...

@an3k

For valid temperatures you should have tilted the PC while have it running just to get the air completely out of the loop but into the top of the radiator (where it can sit until it does of old age).

A very impressive little system, sure it's expensive but given it's size, cooling ability and it's overall uniqueness it warrants a high premium. The only thing that I noticed was there appeared to be air trapped in the loop.
