The fandom mostly agrees that the "smaller, more honest soul" is Ruby, because of all the other lines that Salem or Oz has given regarding the soul. This soul breathes hope into the hearts of the weary, or "victory is in a simple soul". Most people I would guess believe that Ruby will deal the final blow to Salem, and that there will be victory in her hope, because "there will be no victory in strength". Many think Oscar could fit, but I personally don't see it as much. The only thing that kind of links him with "smaller" is his secondary allusion to The Little Prince, and that fact that he is a little guy. But overall, Ruby seems to be the simple soul.
@@YaBoiJester considering Oscar wasn't even a planned character when the show started, and the whole honest soul stuff existed since episode 1, I doubt he is it.
I love how certain parts of Ice Queendom link back to Vol. 1 in more subtle ways. For instance, Tai's whole discussion with Yang about Ruby's independence. Puts into perspective why Yang didn't want to be assigned to a team with her. A way better reason than the assumed, "I'd rather be on a team with my friends." It also lends to Yang's backstory of taking care for Ruby after Summer passed. Also it was awesome to see Ozpin and Tai Yang interact for the first time ever. The interactions between team STRQ and the Wizard of Oz are already sparse. Spare for Qrow. Love the reactions Ghost! Always a pleasure to watch someone as passionate about the show! Keep safe and healthy man. ✌
Didn't know you were reacting to this, so glad to see it, I love a lot of stuff about IQ, including the animation and how they restructured the early story.
Just a little heads up - the events in Ice Queendom aren't the exact same ones as those in the original series, most likely to move things along faster. This still makes for a decent companion series, as far as I'm concerned. 😀
While OG show still holds up as my fav, IQ is definitely good in my book; just not as highly and with the asterisk of being side-story vibey. I view it as a complimentary series to the main show, not a replacement by any means. Also the dub definitely took my enjoyment to another level. - ngl I kind of do like the change with Yang's intro, since it distances her from the party girl image certain types try to limit her to being (while ignoring all the other aspects of her character). Instead showing more on the responsibility angle, cause this is the girl that basically was forced to raise her little sister. - I love that they incorporate future aspects cause now they're known things. Like Winter, Whitley, Jac-ass, Willow, and Klein. Also using a modified version of the Masamune Shirow manga's covering of the White trailer showing of Jac-ass's test for Weiss. Namely removing the scientists that were in that version that let the Armor-Geist into the room to fight. - Arryn's new version of v1 era Blake is just >chef's kiss< so good. Definitely agree on the purple accents in her hair being a plus. - A nitpick I do have is them pulling back on foreshadowing the psychotic p.o.s. Adam by having his line directly referring to the humans onboard. Before it was just a general uncaring-ness that set the stage for his co-option of the faunus cause. - Christopher Wehkamp does a good job too, but god I'd love to see a vision of what Billy Kametz's version of Roman at this point in the story would've been like (even more after having seen v9). Legit f*ck cancer. - Now you've gotten to hear Glynda's new VA in action and imo she does a fantastic job xD - I actually like the change to having them all being on the same plane to Beacon vs. in the courtyard of it. Also wow I have to wonder if that "I'm proud of you just the way you are" was an intentional thing or coincidental xD
NGL, one of the things I loved about IQ was listening to the RWBY Japanese cast take center stage (and in most cases it's the same VAs that do the Japanese dub of the original series). I love Saori Hayami's work, and she does Ruby so well.
I forgot about that dirty little knife twist during Salem's monologue at the end. Absolutely uncalled for, and I don't think we can really blame CRWBY for that one, unless that monologue has a drastically different pacing in the Japanese script.
Yay! Glad you're covering RWBY: IQ! Yeah, the dub is more accessible to a wider audience. It's a wild side-story that can fit into the main timeline if you want it to, or not. They make minor changes for the sake of pacing, and also draw some from the official RWBY manga for material as well. Looking forward to the rest of your IQ reactions.
I’ve watched ur rwby reaction a lot and ur going to love ice queendom btw love ur videos I just subscribed To u after watching ur rwby rewatch ur a very funny
I low key love the Rwby torchwick goons opening fight here more then the original! the music and animation got me! other then that scene the original is better ! XD but your gunna have fun! #GLINDAAA
RWBY IQ: A Speed Run of Vol 1 , Vol 1.5 is the main event, and followed up by a little bit of vol 2 It's "Canon adjacent" Which is really just "It's in the Same Universe but some stuff happens different" . Some also say "Canon but not canon at the same time." Overall it's just a great time. Cant wait to see the reacts : D .
I didn’t actually end up finishing IQ now that I think about it!! There are both really great and really bad things about IQ in my opinion and I’m interested to see your take on it.
I remember when this first came out it just felt off to me somehow, hard to get into. I think having an awesome reactor there just helps my brain process it.
NGL, much as I love anime generally, I would have much rather had a Maya-engine re-render of the first three seasons. That said, I'm hoping for a fun trip here. :)
THIS! The biggest struggle i have getting new people into RWBY is that the first three seasons are... rough to say the least, Poser Pro was never meant to be the backbone of a series like RWBY, and it shows
I put off watching this series for so long because I was faithful to the original and waited till after volume 9 So the only thing left is the final showdown. I’m glad I waited, this anime while the dialogue gets choppy here and there it’s not really noticeable and the animation and storytelling is so clean and concise, I almost hope they Do the next 8 volumes within at least a couple more seasons of the anime. It would be so dope.
Did I hear you right at the end? You're watching Arcane too? I'd have assumed you watched it already, but if you haven't, I'll definitely follow those reaction videos as well. Awesome series, with a similar target audience to RWBY.
I just don't like Ice Queendom, it's smoother and cleaner, and I like that there is a little extra we missed out on the first time around, but it doesn't seem to tell the story as well.
They did a good job with this during their retelling of volumec1 of RWBY. Unfortunately, it turns to complete shit afterward. I highly suggest stopping after the first 3 episodes. It's really that bad.
First this show is extremely well done except for . . . 2 things that I can't get past as a longtime fan of RWBY. I will NOT list them until you complete the show as not to taint your experience @gh0xttherebel Enjoyed the reaction!!!
