So the reason the town called them "Bōfūrin" is because that's what you call 'Windbreaks' in Japan. There are different things these are made of between structural to planted shrubs and trees but they act as a wall or fence to help block the wind from important things like farms to prevent soil erosion or around rails to protect trains or even around houses, especially in places where you have frequent wind storms. So it's a play on words using the school the students are from, Fūrin (also Wind Chimes in Japanese) and that they're protecting the town from gangs and violence (basically the "storm") and acting as the Windbreak or "Bōfūrin".
“Bofurin” and “windbreaker” also refers to the Japanese wind chimes. The symbol for Furin High school is a Japanese wind chime (see episode two, when you see the symbol for Furin High with Kanji symbols with a fiery background, all while hearing the clear sound of a Japanese wind chime. This is why you see an artistic emphasis on Japanese wind chimes-visually and hearing them in the background-in episode one and carries a bit into episode 2.
I love this show already, interactions during breakfast having that level of depth show great potential for the storytelling. Level of humor is also on point
As someone who is reading the manga and at vol 17 I will say don't worry about the lack of fighting this episode cuz after this there is a lot more action and fighting to come 😉 also glad to see your reaction 😁
This took me back from a year ago. I was interested in starting a manhwa called "Wind Breaker" and somehow accidentally stumbled upon this manga with the same title. I did enjoy this and my first thoughts were, "Tokyo Revengers surely would've been great if we saw Takemichi's progression as a fighter" upon reading the first few chapters.
Lol a lot of people were excited and then immediately disappointed that windbreaker the manhwa wasn't getting an adaptation, I don't blame them though as the manhwa is more popular than the manga and with the two sharing the same name naturally some people will be a bit bummed out when they realized it's the other one
@@anon3600 For sure they'd be since we recently have a good amount of Manhwas and Webtoons being adapted into anime. Welp seems like some fans will be looking forward to Tower of God's return with s2 on July, and I'm still hoping for bike Wind Breaker to be announced as well.
@@KnockKnack I'm excited for tower god! and yeah hopefully they adapt windbreaker manhwa one day Currently enjoying viral hit and windbreaker anime tho
Off topic but i am actually surprised that you haven't watched Mr Villain's Day Off from last seasonals, give it a spin in your off time even if you don't intend to make a video on it
they should save their time for the big fights, the point of that scene was to learn about the characters, the fight wasn't interesting, so i think it was a good decision to not animate that
