I’m 65 and I remember when we were very innocent, we were at war in Vietnam, my dad was there, my parents didn’t talk about it when dad came home, we just knew he was a little different. With me, music and my best friend helped me cope with the changes in my dad. We had the best music ever created, the sad thing is, no one will be able to create anything that we had as far as music goes
A timeless classic that we can all relate to. Falling in love is the most wonderful experience that life has to offer...and that first kiss will never be forgotten.
One of the beautiful songs I admired when a student at Delta State university in Cleveland, Mississippi...Met my wife and we've been together for almost 48 years....Blessed beyond imagination!
My husband and I met our freshmen year in high school (1969). This was our song. We married shortly after graduation, and in July we will be celebrating our 45th anniversary.
dyad dyad2r1 This is our song and has been for 42 years... my wife was recently diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and this past week had a huge brain tumor removed and only a short time left we have another song that says it all about us as well and it is "Keeper Of The Stars" by Tracy Byrd
sweet times during at sweet time...1950's - 60's. My beloved Dad sang this song while he drove his 1964 hot Ford Mustang with my Mom by his side and my brother and I sat in the back eating our icecream cones!
+Justine Horvath You had a very good upbringing by two fine parents! You came along (like me) in a great time You also have great taste in music. If you have children raise them right just as you were!
We had a million magic moments together. RIP David Chapman 8/21/56--5/24/12. it was always softer than a summer night , and sweeter than wine. we danced in the kitchen many nights to this. I will never forget............
This song is ingrained in my mind from listening to it on a transistor radio as a child lying under a tree on a hot summer day on vacation from school reading comic books. Yet even though this song is a part of my memory I never knew who recorded it until right now. God Bless You Tube.
The harmony of the older songs....you younger kids won't ever get the brilliance of Less is More!!!! THE Drifters give a listen as well as this great group
This was our song from the first time we heard it back in '69 and for the next 42 years. My husband passed away recently, but it will always be "our" song.
This magic moment So different and so new Was like any other Until I kissed you And then it happened It took me by surprise I knew that you felt it too By the look in your eyes Sweeter than wine (sweeter than wine) Softer than a summer night (softer than a summer night) Everything I want to have (everything, everything) Whenever I hold you tight This magic moment (this magic moment) While your lips are close to mine Will last forever Forever, till the end of time (this magic moment) Whoa, oh, (this magic moment) oh Sweeter than wine (sweeter than wine) Softer than a summer night (softer than a summer night) Everything I want to have (everything, everything) Whenever I hold you tight This magic moment (this magic moment) While your lips are close to mine Will last forever (this magic moment) Forever, till the end of time (magic) Whoa, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh Magic, magic, magic
I sure do miss the days of the old bands.. The bands that sang their songs from their hearts. The love of God magnified itself in the songs of love back in the day. Our Heavenly Father is a God pure love, but mind you he is no pushover.
35wildbill thank you so much. You know that there are always mockers out there. There were markers back in the day that Jesus hung on that horrible cross for us. Can you leave and imagine what was going through his mind ? It just breaks my heart to even think or even imagine what he went through people screaming at him spitting in his face. His heart must have broken and to think that he was looking down on his own. Thanks keep in touch Wild Bill. Ma Jesus Christ of Nazareth bless you in an awesome and mighty way in the name of Jesus
35wildbill email me if you want to I like to stay in touch with someone that's all my level. The children of Jesus Christ our Lord need to bond together especially in these days. The Bible tells us so. The Bible says that we must assemble all cells together. We all know that united we stand divided we fall. That old nasty stinking dirtbag double wants us to vited. And he has succeeded in many ways to divide us up . And if you ask me he has done a good job in tearing down the body of Christ. Here's my email address. last day apostle.net@gmail.com just address will come right to my android which I have with me all the time Wild Bill is that I appreciate you ain't too many people got good things to say you know how that devil is so I welcome all of you who love the Lord Jesus as well as I to email me. Jesus also has a Google+ page in my name michael careccia but all in all it belongs to Jesus my Lord and my king. I'm trying to gather a collection of love songs and then I turn them around toward Jesus. I love you all with a Godly love ma Jesus Christ the King of Kings bless you all in a mighty way in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth
Michael Careccia wow I guess I should have looked over my post before sending it Wild Bill. The reason I'm posting this commentary is because I want to straighten things out and that is where it says we must assemble all cells together that's not what I told computer to put down there. I said that we must assemble our selves together in these days I believe we are in the last days brother everything is pointing toward the coming of our king. And I will be so happy. Thanks Bill Wild Bill that is.
With that magnificent voice Jay has to be descended from a line of Cantors....The amazing thing is that his voice is still as sharp and incredible as it was 50 years ago!!!!
I had a reputation for hitting boys that tried to kiss me, so when I 15 my future husband kissed me and jumped back against a wall waiting to get hit, I didn’t hit him, he was the only boy I wanted to kiss me lol. We got married in 1977 and we’re still married
great music came from the 50's 60's early to mid 70's I love that time and now rap on CMA awards what a joke and for most of today's so called music what crap
That's what every generation has said about the music of the time. There are some really good acts and music today: Bruno Mars, Adele, Muse, to name a few. I agree that the music of the 1950's through the 1970's was better, but so was the music of the 1940's!
Bob Francis i agree on Bruno Mars! the guy is like a new Michael Jackson almost! in the rock category 3 awesome bands have done some great albums, 2 of them from Australia! Wolfmother, Jet and Black Keys!!! sure wish Jet would do a new album! every now and then a song comes along that sounds better than others! and sometimes it can be one that sounds like the others! i happen to like OneRepublic's new song
Love ❤️ love 💕 this song, it brings out a warm and fuzzy feeling, where people bare their souls. When someone says wait my love, they waited. The Bronx, New York
RIP : Jay Traynor (March 30 1943 - January 2 2014) was founder and lead singer of Jay & The Americans singing lead on thier first hit . He left the group in 1964 to go solo and was replaced in the Americans by David Blatt who agreed to perform under the stage name Jay Black
All my children were conceived to this song! This MARINE is proud of his kids, excellent music makes for great children Now if they would just enlist in the Corps....ooohhhhraaa Combat Team Echo 2/1 Rocks!
This is my favorite Jay and the Americans song. Boy, this sure floods my mind with memories of my high school years. The Vogues were same type of group also very popular with us teens back in the 1960s.
With the voice of Jay Black and the Americans, theirs love songs, make that life is totaly magic into the world of Pop Muisic. One of My Favorite love song from late 1969 during the peace and love generation.
Only a connoisseur of classy golden oldies can appreciate this kind of music. Unlike all the filth in hip-hop and the distorted pop country, it will always be "GOOD" music I never get tired of listening to!!!
Wow this song is Love and Love comes from Jesus. Yes I beleive with all my heart that every single love song that has ever been written has been written by Jesus Christ which first showed us all how to really Love when He gave His Life for us on the Cross. I Love you Jesus with all of my heart and then some. In the name of Jesus Christ Amen.
I lost my lovely wife in 83, and will never forget her. Got remarried but its not the same as the first love. Someday I will be with her. sorry for your loss, and I feel your pain.
I was lucky enough to see them in concert in 1967, about a year before this was released. Fantastic in every way. Jay's voice was unbelievable. They did a funny bit. They had done a Coke commercial at some point before 1967 and their skit went like this: What do monsters eat? Things. What do monsters drink? Coke? Why? (singing) 'Cause things go better with Coca-Cola, things go better with Coke" They were funny AND very very good.
Hey Caleb... a reply to your critique of Jay Black and the Americans Cover of this magic moment. I'm stuck Comfortably in the middle Of two musical generations. To that end, I can look at both covers, both versions, with equal nostalgia and appreciation. Every artist Of every recent musical generation, adapts to, adopts, and build on the previous generations accomplishments and legacies. In this particular case, The Americans rought a wonderful, classic to a new generation,
He's actually 73 and going strong. I listen to every song, video on RU-vid that Jay Black is in every day. His voice touches me and revitalized my love for my husband.
All I can say is incredible. I just saw him sing it again on the PBS show and he can still hit those high notes! He has talent and knows how to use it. Not everyone with talent knows how to use it the right way....he definitly does know!
A great song to welcome you and all that served. I know a lot of you guys got a bad rap. On a personal note, I want to thank you for your service. ~ peace bro ~
timeless music for its time long live the old rock an roll may it never die an let that music we call it to day die soon nothing can conpare to this music an its time
yea buddy, every time I hear this song, I think about that sleazy dive {bar} just outside of NAS alameda... this was the only song the band knew how to play, but after a few beers, nobody cared! lol
twinstu50 when the navy closed the base back in the early '90's, that bar closed also... it was a great hang out! a lot of good memories in that place..
DerRobMann (R.T. West) I was with a A-4 squadron, based out of nas alameda..but. your right!, all military bases had these joints outside the front gate somewhere.. most we're great 'hang-outs'... thanks for your service also!!!! c-ya,terry..
terry wheatley I was in and out of Subic Bay and Yokosuka Naval Station a whole bunch of times between 71 and 73. Some of the Filipino bands that played were fabulous and of course some also sucked. It was a pretty wild time, serving on a Destroyer, out to Yankee Station, back to Subic, etc. Every ship seemed to have it's own favorite bar especially in Subic. I never served stateside until 1986 unless you count homeport PH as stateside.
kenny komodo I did a 'west-pac' on the uss coral sea, '68-'69.i loved pulling into Subic for some R&R.. when we pulled into Subic to off load ammo for the last time, I paid $200. {'69 dollars} to have someone stand my watch just for one more time in olongapo!! was it worth it? you bet, every penny! c-ya..
Jay had about the strongest voice in pop,and he still has it after seeing him in fairly current public tv channel concert. He was still hitting every note.
What a great voice Jay had and these old Romantic ballads were truly magic. I am glad that I was young when this music was popular. There is no Romance anymore in today's music.
