So many aspects of our lives has been “westernised” & “urbanised”, it’s so nice to actually see you seek inspiration from your roots for a better, fulfilling way of living. God Bless you and your loved ones.
Justin is an incredibly talented architect and remarkably humble. He is also blessed with a beautiful family-Sarah and Janu. Wishing you many more projects in the future so that you can continue sharing your talents with others, Arch!
Coexisting with insects and animals ❤ there's a lot of wisdom in the context of using "nakikitira lang kami" which translates to "we're just living off in a space that isn't ours"
Maybe it's just me but watching the video makes me so emotional. For all the right reasons of course. It's just the built composition is so well thought and Justin spoke to the place, the house, and anything in between to ensure there's harmony and unity between the dwellers and the surroundings. Isn't that lovely?
This is so nice! As someone who lives on the same island and is looking for inspiration when building a home with the same principle, I am so happy to have found this video!
The ammout of thought and length s you went to to study the land and wind, before building was true dedication 👏. Gorgeous property for you all to enjoy 😊. Thanks for sharing your beautiful 😍 home 🏡 with us ❤. Greetings from England 🏴 Simon and Beth ❤👋
You live the dharma in your everyday life. Fate will be kind to your family. This mindfulness will bring in bliss and positivity into your home. However, the best thing I got from this video is the value of co-existence that you teach to your son. He will grow up grounded in humility and experience life deeply connected to nature. A house of beauty and minimalism!
As an architect I Love the open plan & uses of filipino indegenous materials. My main concerns: the lifespan of organic materials & the infiltration of mosquitoes, termites & insects.
I wonder, how domestic animals may help with small and medium-sized insects (and probably snakes, as well). some walls are concrete, so termites should show no interest in them, others may be treated or cured with primers… Also, locals usually seem unbothered with them at all… But that is a good point and it would be interesting to know how these concerns were addressed
That's the term Im looking for. It's modern but still feels like traditional. In fact it has brutalist elements mixed with a very open layout which is not common in traditional builds.
Wow this is truly modern pinoy architecture, absolutely gorgeous, appropriate, respectful, an amazing achievement. A masterclass in how to extend rather than replace the classics.
I'm Indonesian but looking at this also makes me feel at home. the design is undeniably it's own thing, not trying to be Japanese which is the usual thing people go for when trying to be "close to nature". it uses humble materials but the design is intentional. I hope this style becomes a trend like Zen & Scandinavian
One of the best designs I have seen and what a beautiful home you have sir.. I am a huge fan of wabi sabi inspired designed for houses.. and this one is just one of them..❤
I am building a house on Talikud Island as a foreigner. I can't own the land, so it is in the names of my two Philippino daughters. Nice house and I agree about the none native trees. If you want to fast, choose Bagrass. My house will be radically different.
This is now the second video I've watched featuring Justin, (I first saw the one he did on the cinema he built), and he has such a way of putting together content, (music, shots, and narration), that is so calming and relaxing. It feels meditative. Such a beautiful and peaceful feeling home that he's built for himself and his family. It was interesting to hear him speak about how he sometimes waited for the house to inform him of how it should be built. I do wonder though, (my western mentality coming through), with such an open space how secure is it when they're not home or if they decide to travel.
Awesome build and view. Beautiful family. Peacefulness is priceless . Keep it coming. You inspired me to build something like that someday. Keep it coming. New sub
Chapeau🎩,dear architect....this house is like an hommage to nature and also feeling as a part of nature living there is very balancing for yous guys🙏loads if love to the Philipins from Scotland 🌈🐬 Gabriele 🐉🌺
I really doubt that they went to the effort of designing the house in such a manner without considering the possible effects of rain etc. it is magnificent
What an amazing home! And she gave birth in a stone bath tub, like what? Wow! That's one very lucky and well-behaved kid ❤ My son (bless him) would probably dive from the top floor or run away into the jungle 😅
It is very good to use natural materials for the house but only for me it should also be suitable if those who destroy natural materials have a way to get rid of them in this video because it is too open maybe only a few years what they have done will only be destroyed besides here, typhoons are coming, the weather is different now than before.
i love how he took local wisdom on how to make the roof too. and ensured to use native wood instead of non-native. this is how good architecture should be.
Auto subscribe, ang ganda ng take ni sir sa kanilang bahay kubo na parang mixed with wabi sabi style.. ang ganda po ng mga content nyo.. hoping na someday magkaroon din kami ng kahit maliit na lupa at simpleng kubo na off-grid and self sufficient way of living.. iba ang pakiramdam pag one with nature.. sa kalikasan mo makukuha ung peace of mind na mahirap mahanap sa ngayon, nature heals, nature makes us feel human..
I like your resting chair. Where can i buy that chair??? I know your house not yet finished n still need to paint walls to make it colorful n beautiful. But I like your idea for making it so simple. You are a nature lover thats why you choce to live there.
Pag sa lugar satin ingat lang kayo sa mga may masamang hangarin... kahit may katiwala ingat pa rin Yung mapagkatiwalaan talaga ng pamilya mo,,,try to teach your wife use gun just for security..anyway I like this kind of lifestyle
Espera un poco… Esto no es vivir cerca de la naturaleza, ni siquiera es vivir en la naturaleza, esto es ya vivir con la naturaleza!!!!🫢🫢🫢🫢🫢🫢😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
This home was intentionally built and is respectful of its environment. There is such a soulful and spiritual aura to the family and their home and the use of indigenous materials gives honor to the land and the people. This is how people should approach living in our world, not to take advantage of it but to build an appreciation of nature.
Just by watching this video, it's like I can smell the wet nipa, wood, breeze, wet soil, etc. It's like it's taking me back to my grandmother's house. The nostalgic feeling, and simplicity of living off the grid. Sana makagawa din ako ng ganito in the near future. Balak ko sa probinsya ng lola ko sa Mindanao.
