Not even the bitter cold weather deters Allan Law from his mission to help the hungry. Find out more:363days.org/ Allan Law is featured in the documentary The Starfish Throwers. Find out more:www.thestarfish...
+yes and please But when everyone in the world gives out sandwiches, you'd suddenly be a starving person with 7 billion sandwiches. I'm sure anyone would be tired of sandwiches when you have 7 billion sandwiches, starving or not.
When I lived in the MSP area, my school would help make sandwiches every weekend. Our high school was so massive (4,000+ students and counting) that we had to tell students to stop donating. Allan is an inspiration to us all, and I hope to one day start this in my new city.
Bless his heart . He is a special man... we need more of them like that. If we all would do just 1 thing for someone the world would a much better place. He gave me insperation. Thank you for sharing
Allan Law is an amazing individual. That said, American society is the only reason he is needed to the degree he is. Take care of your own, as a society, be a decent society Don't leave it to heroes..
For the past two years I've been homeless about 15 miles from where this man operates, yet I had never even heard of him until I saw this video. My Homeless Consultant channel here is justifiably very critical of the dehumanizing, counterproductive and wasteful salaried homeless advocacy that dominates Minnesota. I lost everything I had worked my life for by attrition, while navigating that insincere quagmire of arrogant, self-serving (but very well funded) maniacs. In the end it became obvious what kind of system would work for the homeless, and there that "system" is in Allan Law's voluntary commitment. If the smallest, tiniest fraction of Minnesota's population followed his example (with others specializing in health care, employment, housing, etc) homelessness would still exist here, but the "problem" of homelessness would effectively be solved . This man may be THE example of how it should be done. God bless him.
"For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me."
WE need more Saints like this!!!!! I was homeless. We were treated like shit . People Don't get it till happens directly to themselves .... Patti Koontz My homeless corhort !!!!!
all the might and power of the us goverment is dwindled by what this man and his movement is doing for the citizens of this once great country, giving it all to help people in need. change is coming
So I just met this man in person today and I want to give my experience with him. Let me preface this with I think it takes someone with a really good heart to give to the homeless in the capacity in which he did. That being said, it was 11am on a Saturday in a target parking lot and I saw an old white man yelling at a muslim girl (she has what I assumed to be a hijab on). The old white man was yelling something to the tune of fkn Democrats to this stranger. I went up to try and defuse this situation so it dident turn into a hate crime or anything. While the situation was defused and the girl got in her car This guy, Allen Law proceeded to talk to me now and asked me why he kept seeing homeless native Americans in tents and also why Minneapolis is apparently building a 40mil luxury apartment complex and callin it “Somali village”. While in our short conversation as if it was not clear by his black SUV entirely covered decals relating to his entirely non-profit organization to feed the homeless, i got the major assumption that he was to some degree racist. Allen law, I think you have done a lot of good in this world and more people should be like you in that regard I just wish you weren’t racist while doing it.
*there is a part where I talk about his car and i want to clear that portion up. That clause has nothing to do with the second clause in the sentence talking about his racism. While talking to him it seemed like he was bragging about all the good he’s done and not being humble. That paired with his car told me he was kind of an egotistical person, however he could’ve been including that to try and show me from my perspective that he just wasent a “ typical” angry white dude.
**and being someone who wants to go into to social work and specifically for homeless people, I am inspired by this man and he still deserves respect even if his views are different than ours.
Feeding the Homeless is a good thing. But that's not the answer to the problem. America needs to solve the problem by the root. The social system is insufficent. Less Money for the Military, more for Health insurance and social security. This will affect crime rates too.
This is Matthew 25 in action, Love is compassion in action... The Son of God will pray to the Father that we may have the Spirit of God for a Teacher and Comforter Forever in the bible book of John, chapter 14... Peace.
breakfastmachine You see, if a man does not have a guaranteed supply of his physiological needs, own food, own apartment, clothing, he has little motivation to do anything else. It's circumstances, not unwillingness.
+Will Pack i think what he's trying to say is that there are always some corrupt, selfish shits on this planet who dont care for the world and hate to see good on this planet.
+Nate G. You're right. I'll forget all the good that he's doing and call the cops because in one scene he was on the phone while driving. Why do you have to bring politics into this? It's completely irrelevant. Great guy doing this, we need to encourage more people to give in this society.
+SuperFIFTHGEAR politics dictate society right? like the foreclosure nightmare that cause a lot of this bullshit. any goverment or state operation like this would want large amounts of tax payer dollars to thicken the banks vaults before they feed people below them. anyone been to jail? the food? good right..haha im sure some poor sole would literealy kill for a sndich about now
We are looking forward to being a part of this mission - our company will be assembling 500 sandwiches for Allan Law next month and it truly is the LEAST we can do. We hope this will be the first of many contributions we make to this great effort. #MinnesotaNice
"People ask me why I do this and I say that if I was homeless and someone brought me a sandwhich, I'd say thank you." Tell me that doesn't motivate you to go out and do something. Allen is an amazing man and he shows us all that we can be amazing too.
Someone should start a kickstarter campaign or something to get more organizations like this started. Or we could put less funding into the police force and start initiatives like this. Why would anyone steal something or harm someone if they are happy and well fed?
This brought tears to my eyes!! Truly inspiring, It is so refreshing to see someone who is so selfless & kind.... A lot of us could learn a few things from such a loving and kind soul as this man....It also made me realize that so often we think to ourselves "Oh, I am only 1 person...I can't make that big of a change on my own".... He is a prime example of just how much of a difference WE CAN MAKE!! I am in awe of such people as Mr.Law, Shows that angels are amongst us everywhere....And that we don't have to change the entire world and all of its problems in one day, But just doing acts of kindness, showing love & compassion to others and giving from your heart to those who are less fortunate than ourselves can make a huge change the n a persons day, possibly their life.... I know the next time I eat a sandwich, this will be on my mind.....I would love to help this man and his cause in some way....
Its takes each other to help each other. Forget the politicians, forget local governments, forget benefits. When people help people, alot more is done, alot more spirits are lifted, and we all live better lives together.
I'm not trying to be negative here, but more like realistic. Essentially he's perpetuating homelessness through dependence. This IS SURELY a great man doing a great act, but what happens when he dies? By not taking care of himself, technically he is limiting his service to the homeless by the years taken off his own life due to lack of self care. Sure, someone may take his place, but all giving out sandwiches does is perpetuate homelessness. Possibly even more so because of dependence. In the wild, if you provide a certain species food in a general area for a prolonged period of time, let's say 13 years, it becomes at least partially dependent on that food then becomes troubled when that food source ceases to provide. Humans aren't so different. Obviously his intentions are in the right place and I applaud him for his more than generous efforts, but I like to see more preventative measures taken to prevent homelessness and measures to address the factors that are correlated with homelessness like getting them physical and mental health care and job skills training. The whole, "If you teach a man to fish, you will feed him for life" concept.
Ending homelessness in a region requires major socioeconomic change, which would be a task for the government. As it is, handing out sandwiches like he does is already going above and beyond his civic duty.
Kenneth Knutsen Well actually, homelessness is a complex, multi-faceted issue that isn't entirely a socioeconomic issue. Mental illness is relatively prevalent among the homeless population which is more about mental health than socioeconomic issues. And sure, doing what he does is surely going above and beyond his civic duty, but that doesn't mean that what he is doing doesn't create some dependency within the homeless population.
God bless him.I wish there were more people like him.also god bless all the others helping him.it really touched my heart seeing so many people come together.
What a great man Our Lord will reward you so much, Thank you for everything you are doing for humanity.A great example of Jesus walking among the crowds God be with you always .
What an incredible man! Word of Peace Lutheran Church in Rogers helped him make the sandwiches yesterday - in such a short time! All churches and companies should take part in helping him out from making them, to handing them out. Bless this wonderful, selfless man and what he does for the homeless.
Very inspirational. I can't help think thought that America has a HUGE homeless issue yet they spend so much on their military where that money could be used to help their own citizens.
Mesure a man by his deeds...not by his talks. Hes acting and gets all my respect. We can learn from him..not just sittin home n thinkin how good somone can be. All of us could be.
This man and everyone involved are true heroes, these people are the ones who should be celebrated! Bravo! Glad to see him getting some recognition and hopefully it'll inspire others to do the same.
a hero that we don't deserve, and we don't deserve to need, and we don't even deserve to deserve him, but he is there more than many parents, rish people, and politicians. I'm gonna be like him
