"Somehow this absolutely bats*** insane situation continued for about 7 years without anybody noticing .." Haha .. -- you're still one of RU-vid's finest content creators.
Something similar to this actually happened to my next door neighbor. He'd been living with his dead wife's body in a coffin for more than 20 years in a very tiny shelter until some months ago. Noted that it's humid here, the shelter is in the wood with no electricity. We're still wondering how he survived the condition for 20 years. One day he called the police bc he was sick and was scared that no one will take care of his wife if he happened to die, also bc her coffin was breaking apart. It made the news not too long ago and finally they burned the wife's body and he's still living there with her ash....
Obsession is a strange and frightening thing. I've heard about this man before, but you tell the story very well! Your videos are always so interesting!
This story isn’t even told correctly I hope you know, half of the story can be heard on MrBallen’s YT, but there’s even more to the story, he was a necropheliac and even created a permanent cavity in her nether regions so he could copulate with her. He’d have to glue her features back together and use wax and other materials to keep her looking semi okay. And it was NEVER supposed to be a romantic relationship, only a life mission to keep her alive from his dream, the romanticism, that came after the fact.
I feel like someone could make this into a movie where Elena wakes up the day she was supposed to die but heals and lives. Then the rest of the actions in this story still take place except Elena is alive and feels the same way about Carl that he feels about her, and halfway through the movie, little subtle hints slowly build up to a big twist ending where Elena's sister visits and it's revealed that Elena has been dead the whole time. It'd be a little more humane if Carl was delusional and not whatever the fuck he actually was
11:27 Not just any dress. A WEDDING dress. Thank you for not including the photos of Elena's corpse. The picture of her face when she was laid out after they found her...it is unquestionably one of the most terrifying things I've ever seen.
@@rabbitttz It's knowing the backstory that does it for me. Plus my fear of dolls. So knowing that photo was not a doll, but the body of a living human being at one point...great times
History is a scary but also interesting thing. Some people got 'famous' for doing the strangest things, this being one of them. I love learning about our history with ur videos!🌸

"Undying Love" by Ben Harrison is a good read about this case. He describes the times in Key West during that era very well. Sadly, I think every one of Elena's family died of TB--most people worked at cigar factories cheek to jowl, and TB swept through like a plague.
As disturbing as this is there is something in this story that's tragic as well, to have that level of commitment and love for a dying and then dead person is truly staggering, the sex bit though is hard to stomach
this is one of my favorite scary-true stories to tell!! i went to key west once on a ghost tour and we got to see his house, and where he would have the “doll” sit and “look out of the window” throughout the day 😭

It happened in India. The 50 year old guy was an expert in Taxidermy and did it in his mother and 2 Labradors. It was for mental state and the pension The Money was back of his head(maybe) but mainly wanted to keep them with him. Closed all windows and the AC was on 24/7 to keep away the corps smell

Small correction: the "modifications" were not noted in Elena's original autopsy report but from her being (officially) exhumed in the 1970s and are suspected to be signs of natural decomposition (as natural as a mostly paper mache body could be). There's enough evidence that he wasn't actually knowing her remains in the biblical sense. Most of the more shall we say salacious details come from misinterpretation of the 1970s exhumation (Including things that were just plain made up).
Still though, based on his actions. Is it out off the question that he most likely made some “modifications” or at least, tried to(or maybe he just imagined doing it and had “fun” with it)? Thanks for the info of course
This is one crazy story, but imagine this: there could've been more...more crazy stories of people who did exactly what Carl did but were never recorded.

@@gzinom6801 Yeah, stories are always romanticized and heavily embellished with additional bits and pieces just to make it seem all the more interesting to the audience. After this video, I went on to find more versions of Carl's story and they pretty much were the same but with bit and pieces added for story telling purposes.

Wow! I was born and raised here in SOFLO I never heard this tale. Learn something new every day. I find it amazing on some of the historical stories you come up with, educational as well. Well done good sir, well done.
Been waiting what seems like forever for another Thoughty2 upload. I get so excited when I get the notification. Always wondering what his next video will be about. I absolutely love this channel. Keep up the amazing work Aaran.
Tanzler’s story reminds me of an obscure old movie from the 1970s, which I think was called “Deranged”. It was about a guy named Ezra who dug up his mother’s corpse, and “preserved” it by way of amateur taxidermy, along with quite a few other corpses he had stolen from a local cemetery. Of course, this being a movie, Ezra “graduated” to actually murdering people to add to his collection, but he started out as just a ghoul (I think this is the term for someone who digs up and desecrates corpses) like Tanzler.
Hello Thoughty2! I got my copy of Stick A Flag In It in the mail yesterday, and it is exactly what I need right now! The stories are so much fun to read, especially with the way you describe things. I'll probably read it a second time as soon as I'm finished. There's so much information, I don't think I can really absorb it all in one reading. I may become addicted! Thank you for giving me some much needed fun.
I feel like this happens with every show like if a friend shows you a movie or something you've never seen its like "no it gets better!" and it takes like 2 hours to get better. Idk that's just my experience and also thanks for making me laugh okay this is long enough now were done
I knew necrophilia would come into this sooner or later. Wasn't there a Castillian queen who kept her dead husband with her...Joanna the Mad I think she was called.
You're 100% correct! Not excusing what she did with her husband's body but also adding some light to how she was treated as well after her family died as well...i don't doubt there wasn't some correlation there...as well as sent/banished to a convent by her son and not allowed any visitors for the rest of her life. Yikes.
Really enjoy your videos, very entertaining. Today I suddenly realized that your opening is not "Forty-two Here" but Thoughty-Two...so much for English accents. :)
So a few years ago I accidentally stumbled upon a picture of Elenor’s corpse and it terrified the crap out of me. I literally couldn’t sleep that night because of how creepy and disturbing that picture was.
god.. a true love story kind of. but can we just take a second and just apreciate all these videos and efforts for our pass time AND how incredibly hansom thoughty two is 😭😯
Thoughty2 still got that young adult/told teen voice and a bit of a baby face but now he’s actually starting to look more grown up My bids are on him secretly being a vampire, aging much shower than the average person
Unbelievable that this realy happened..... and probably will happen again and again.... some people will always be ******up. And so was/is the justice-system that should punish this kind of horror.
Wtf are you talking about. Abusing a corpse is like kicking a stone. What justice? Justice for a rotting sack of meat? Let’s have justice for fruit and screwdrivers as well
@@TheWiserJester make sense. That’s not a family member, that’s a dead corpse. You are not a sack of bones, and that person is long gone. The base for the laws against corpse abuse etc is formed upon health hazards related to diseases a corpse can easily summon and spread to living people. I agree he should be punished for playing with publics health which fortunately it wasn’t. It’s not about corpses feelings. Wanna beat up my dead grandma ? Go for it. It’s not my grandma, it’s bones.
He actually does say “forty-two”. It’s a running joke for Arran. He is making a reference to the novel: “The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy”. I will leave it you to look up the meaning of forty-two.
I have been to former house of the subject in this story (now a museum) and have seen all the things that he used to cover up his relationship with the dead lady. He went as far as buying a new ford automobile to a man who discovered what he was doing, as a means of buying his silence. For a few years he continued to do the same for others who knew of his secret. This guy was definitely disturbed.
Congratulations 🎊 you have won the award for the Most Macabre story that I have ever heard ( although I believe that I have heard either this one or another similar one many years ago). God help me !!!
Im getting addicted to youre channel sir. Absolutely creppy scénario youve come up with. Always come up with something interresting, great british humour too, have you studied in cinema?

It's also not what being a psychopath is. He used that word carelessly with no regard to what it truly means. He was psychotic, not psychopathic. There's a huge difference between the two.
Either the law back in the day was badly written, or the prosecution was just really incompetent. That statute of limitations wouldn't work as a defense today, and probably shouldn't have worked in the past as well. Sure, not being able to put him on trial for stealing a corpse too long ago makes sense, but the desecration of the corpse was an ongoing act. They could have prosecuted him for the things that couldn't expire, i.e. the crimes he was still committing in the present.
It took me a while to get the guts to watch this. I was very young when I watched a documentary about this case. The pictures of that wax corpse gave me nightmares for days.
What actually strikes me the most is the vision he had at 12, showing the woman that clearly must’ve been her, why else would he have been so completely enamored with her if there was no predisposed reason? But on top of that, why would any of his ancestors play such a nasty trick on him? Perhaps they assumed that TB wouldn’t be incurable by the time he met her, or maybe they couldn’t see into the future in enough detail to know that she’d even be sick? So many questions about that nighttime visitation really overtake the event that he carried out. At least to me they do. Definitely an interesting story! One is never heard before, many people have done this, but I haven’t ever heard this particular one.
You should do a video on the shrunken bodies that were displayed in the Museum of the American Indian as examples of the skill of Amazonian head shrinkers. Well, they were until tastes changed and people find the whole thing dsitasteful. Also, it was discovered that the bodies had not been shrunk by Amazonian tribesmen but by a German (what a surprise!) doctor who worked in a turbeculosis (yet another surprise) sanatorium in Peru. I remember that wehite, blonde Spaniard looked like he was in agony as if saying, 'What have you done to me?!". The native looked like he was fine with it, almost smiling.
