I’ve owed all the 1/2 tons except Ram and always seemed to need more power and towing capacity. Bought a new F250 Diesel in late 2020 with the high capacity tow package and it’s been the best truck I’ve ever owned. No issues to date and pulls my car trailer and future 5th Wheel RV with no issues. The old Tundras are better then the new ones.

My 2021 F-150 XLT FX4 is pretty nice with the 302A package and it's the 2.7 Ecoboost averaging 18 mpg city/hwy. Don't plan on towing anything so no big deal to me. Overall happy with it. Only issue I had was a recall on the underbody insulators sagging causing the drive shaft to get scored. Replaced my drive shaft and it's been good to me 🙏🏼💯✌🏼

My last three trucks over a span of 21 years were Toyotas. They were great trucks. My last was a V8 Tundra. I was considering the new Tundra, but when Toyota abandoned the V8 platform, I purchased a new 2021 F-150 XLT 302A package with the 5.0L Coyote V8 with 3.73 gears. This truck is so impressive in every category, style, power, sound, comfort, features, fit and finish. Of course, I've been interested in the roll out of Toyota's new vision for the Tundra, and from everything I've seen and read about the new Tundra, sure glad I bought the F-150. No regrets.

I test drove a 2022 Tundra Limited and a Platinum. I liked the new technology they put in the trucks but everything else was meh. The truck is several inches longer then the previous gen yet somehow the cabin is smaller. After test driving the 2022 Tundras I decided to purchase a low miles 2021 Tundra TRD Pro. I have had the truck for two weeks and smile ear to ear everytime I drive it. I had test driven several different Tundra Trims and found the TRD Pro had the most comfortable ride even if you never leave payment.

I had a Tacoma and found it was not big enough to tow/haul what I needed with the V6, so I moved to the V8 tundra in 2020. It was ultra dependable, but really struggled towing just 8,000 lbs, so I moved to a F250 in February. The truck is very powerful, can tow 15k, but is not dependable. In 2 months of ownership it has been in the shop 9 days for three different service items.

4 real? I believe u about the junk ford and the Tacoma having 0 power but i own a 2008 tundra 4x4 crewcab 5.7 that has about 420k no repairs so super dependable and i have hauled a trailer for work weighing anywhere from 6k to 9k every day of its life and havnt had a problem towing yet. I can have the a/c on in 120 degree sunny day going up hill no problem.of course i would like more power sometimes but still gets the job done. I did own a 2016 ford f150 3.5 eco boost for about 4 months and then got rid of it because it had low low miles and everytime i pulled a trailer up hill in the heat it would over heat real fast and cut all power. Total junk. I would like to get my hands on the new tundra to actually see for my self what all the hate is about other than looks.

GREAT video!! I too am a Toyota believer. And I loved the HARSH test drive on a HEAVILY pot holed dirt road. It rode like a baja 500 truck. Loved it. I also drove the F150 Powerboost and I have to say, this video sums up my thoughts. The interior of the F150 is much better thought out. The power is CRAZY in the F150. The ride wasn't quite as good as the Tundra and that can be the difference between the rear coils vs leaf springs. I put a deposit down on the Powerboost because it is due to arrive at the dealership within 2-4 weeks. The Tundra.....not due to arrive AND BE AVAILABLE until 3-10 months!!!! And why is it that most F150s offer a rear locking differential, but you can't find a single Tundra with a rear locking diff?? I have called over 20 dealerships across the country and haven't found a single Tundra with the Offroad Package (unless it was a 4x2!!).

We need to be honest: The 2022 Tundra is an absolute step back from the 21 in many areas, most notably in quality and space efficiency. Rattles, trim pieces falling, various engine issues, electrical issues, the infotainment system being finnicky, and just barely adequate performance from the turbo V6 aren't things we should be speaking about on a truck that had 15 years to be just right. I'm not a Ford guy, but it is for sure a better truck than the Toyota and please spare me the reliability argument.

I had high hopes for the new Tundra. Always been a Toyota fan and have owned 7-8 of their trucks and several cars. The ‘22 is very underwhelming and downright ugly. I really want to like the Tundra. I like the styling, but hearing horror stories of the QC issues along with the sluggish feeling from the power train, the F-150 is the better choice. The Tundra’s center console was disappointingly cheap feeling. The 1794’s fake wood is tacky. Seats are typical Toyota stiff. The F-150 has a better quality interior with better fit and finish. The seats are supportive and comfortable. The Ecoboost hauls ass. There’s a reason why the F-150 is so popular.
@GreenMountain565
@GreenMountain565 Год назад
Here is my take on the F-150 being a better truck. I’ve owned multiple Ford 150’s,250’s,350’s as well as a 2020 Tundra. As someone who is in the market for a new truck there are few things I like about both trucks but not have drivin the new gen Tundra or the 21+ F-150 I’m going strictly off of reviews I’ve seen. 1. The F-150 is flat out pricier if you compare similar trims. Tundra limited and a Lariat. I built both on their websites. The Tundra is about 60k and the Lariat was 80k. This guy mentioned the ford is a better truck- well it better be for a 20k difference. But in all honesty it probably is a better over all truck. Ford buts way more research and money into the f150 then Toyota ever will in theirs. But you pay for it as well 2. Fords cabin is roomier. That hump in the back of the Tundra is just plain lazy on Toyotas part. 3. Why is Toyota the only one who does a full roll down rear window? Do they have some patent on this? People always talk about how cool of a feature this is yet no one else does this. 4. Tundra with no tow hooks and a weird rear bumper which makes it hard getting in the bed. Why? 5. The fact that I can’t get tow mirrors on the tundra in the limited trim with their power package which gives you a 110 outlet and led lights in the bed is stupid. Tundra makes you pick certain options with their trims so it limits how you can actually build one to your liking. Ford let’s you pretty much build it how you want. So at the end of the day I will probably still go with the Tundra as even with my gripes with it I can’t justify that 20k in price difference for the Ford.

Personally I think that the real competition is between Ford F-150 an Chevy Silverado but if Chevy can just create a turbo V6 option for the Silverado then it would be a closer comparison as far as fuel economy is concerned. I hate the looks of the newest F-150 but they’re leading in fuel economy if you don’t want a diesel engine. The new Silverado looks better inside and out and has two great engines but the fuel economy could be better.

Toyota’s always feel sluggish and tin can like. Toyota’s are excellent vehicles all about reliability but they are NOT for people who actually enjoy driving spiritedly or people who want a vehicle that feels sturdy. Having driven every new full size truck on the market and owned all of them I can tell you that the Ram is the best to drive although not the best to look at. Fords are great trucks but they have a weird “jiggle” that you feel throughout the whole truck when hitting any bump and it’s very noticeable and super annoying. The GM twins drive great with the new 10 speed but who wants to be replacing lifters every 15k miles? And the Titan … well my experience with the 2021 Titan pro 4x was the transmission slipping and banging gears UNDER 1000 miles.

Totally agree that the F150 is best truck. I have had Ford, Chevy, Toyota and Dodge. I bought a 2021 F150 Platinum in January 2021 before the price gouging started. Got 20000 miles on it. Zero issues and runs and drives great. Traded my last Dodge I will ever own on it. It was a 2018 and was terrible. Multiple problems from brand new. My Fords have always been best overall. Not to mention the new Tundra is the ugliest truck ever built. Outside and inside.

Very comparable to the tundra and I have to admit that I like the tundra 5.7 V8 motor and tranny much better than the ford. Lots of clicking and clanking on the ford. However, the comfort the ride, the space and versatility is all FORD!. New 2022 tundra that would be a big NO from me. Overall happy with the FORD by far. Fords are great trucks as long as you can keep them out if the repair shop - which is hard to do from what I hear from real owners. I've had zero repair issues with the 3 Toyota pickups I've owned over the past 20 years - - other than normal maintenance items ( fluids, brakes, etc). Will the new Tundra be as reliable? Only time will tell. On the style and function sides, Toyota did miss the opportunity to raise the bar with the 2022 in several areas.

@ben hardy Forgive my long rant but can you consider Comparing apples to apples - Price and features? F150 Limited/Platinum/King Ranch vs Tundra Capstone/Platinum/1794 Is the average F150 hundreds or thousands of dollars more than a comparable Tundra? Research why Tundra has a small hump in the second row? (Is it because of beefier components that affect longevity or just lazy engineering?) How long does an average F150 owner keep his truck before trading to a newer one vs Tundra owner? What’s the data on highest mileage found on an F150 without major repairs compared to Tundra? Can you dig a little deeper and not leave us with one person’s personal opinion and choice? I’d really like to know since I’m genuinely shopping these two vehicles (2022 F150 KR/Platinum 4x4 vs 2022 Tundra 1794 with Advance pack 4x4) and would prefer to get data on real stats, rather than this interview which is one man’s personal opinion. I notice that most vehicle journalists on you tube only focus on the new vehicle without digging deeper to bring rich content like answers to above mentioned and even interviews from Ford vs Toyota engineers on basics that drive their decisions in building components that make their units more effective. I keep my trucks longer than 5 years and recognize that may not be the norm. Are you up to the task?

I have a 2022 Tundra and most of the issues that some people think are problems, I've not had. No rattles at all. It gets up and will haul ass quite nicely. Sure, I like v8s too but I wanted something that was more like a car as far as how it drove. Haters will always hate. Fords are too expensive for what you get though I like them as well. Looks ar 100% subjective. I didn't like the grill at first but it tends to grow on you, or at least for me I like it better now. There's nothing special about the looks of a F150! Anyway, you guys can have your F150s, I like the Tundra. That said, I do own 2 Ford products, a 1970 Boss 302 and a 1972 Pantera!

I agree with this guy. I traded my 2020 Tundra for the 2022 Tundra and there's quite a bit of cons with the new truck. I love the transmission/power, the interior and more. It rattles a lot when the bass is on, I HATE the turning radius on this new truck, I have a TRD SPORT and there's not even a USB plug in the back. The middle console is cheap. The Infotainment is cheap as it gets. Like the guy said, the space is poorly used which is unfortunate. They took away a lot of good features from the old Tundra...Just my 2cents.

I’ve owned all the domestics. Years ago had a 2004 F-150. Obviously the newer F-150’s have advanced the ball considerably since then. I bought a 2019 Silverado. Loved the aggressive looks but admittedly the interior was a let down the longer i kept it. The re-freshed truck looks to have solved that issue. I traded that truck in for a 2020 Ram 1500 which i still have. Comfortable truck, nicely designed inside and out, hemi has great power and so far it’s been a relatively trouble free ownership experience. I think all the domestics make a really good full-size truck right now and it’s more about personal taste. Toyota? They had a 14 long years to bring their A game and i think they’ve caught up - at best.

The problem GM hasn't shown what much of the interiors look like on the Silverado or the Sierra without the ZR 2, Denali Ultimate package, or the AT4x. The WT base didn't get any of the promised interior upgrades. So we haven't seen how much of the cheap plastic looks in the lower trims have been reduced or the improvements. Even a Denali Trim with out the Ultimate Denali trim GMC I think it had one picture of it. I think you still get an upgraded interior, but it's crazy for the highest interior level of a luxury truck GM forces those buyers to pay for it as option trim packages rather than standard equipment for the highest trim in a luxury truck. It's been months when GM released interior photos but they didn't do it for every trim level.
