Welcome to the world of Helicopters!!! I would've posted more helicopter content sooner, but when I got into flying them 3 or so years ago I realized there's no room for distractions. I've been flying A TON before and after work so I can show you guys this stuff as safely as possible. More to come but only in the right conditions. Hope you guys enjoy!

AG1 tastes like dog shit. No word of a lie. There are bottles of liquified vegetables that are loaded with extra vitamins that you can buy at your supermarket that at least have a teeny tiny bit of sugar, so it's not like you're sucking on a dung-coated piece of rotten moss from a dead stump.

I have a lot of respect for Garrett’s attitude tbh. Just the idea that he wasn’t immediately blasting all the aviation stuff all over RU-vid the second he got a helicopter, speaks a lot to his humility imo. The content he’s been making with the planes and such has been a lot of fun to watch because of that attitude. Seems like a really good example of how you can be confident and successful without being arrogant and turning off the rest of us by doing things most of us can’t afford to do. Classy as hell. While mountain biking at Trestle Bike Park (Winter Park CO) they were heli logging beetle kill pine right next to the Zephyr chairlift, WHILE we were ridding the chairlift. that pilot was hot lapping loads off the mountain and picked up dozens of loads while we were less than 20' feet away on the chair, sometimes with the rotor right over our heads. it was mind blowing how precise yet insanely aggressive he was flying and did it all day long. absolutely the coolest thing i've ever seen.

Hello Cleetus, what a great video. I worked heliportable seismic for almost 20 years. We were using heliportable drills and I worked all over the world. 2,000 lb picks and elevations up to 9,000 feet. I was on the ground as a crew coordinator and I spotte the pieces as they came in. The pilots I worked with were for the most part old veitnam vets. What they could do with their helicopter was nothing short of a miracle. We flew 205's, 212's and 214's, some lamas and jet rangers. The 500 was the little one. Flew those in some awesome places. Did checkrides with kiwi pilots in Papau New Guinea up to 10,000 feet in a 206 and then death spiral to 1,000 feet. (Thats what they called it) I had an awesome life for a long time. Thanks for the memory back to those days.

My Private Pilot -Rotorcraft-Helicopter was my first rating!. Mostly in Hughes 300C's But I do have a bit of turbine time in Jet Ranger III's and Long Rangers and my most treasured hour of flight time was in a Hughes 500 with a Vietnam vet OH6 pilot. We did full auto's all the way to the ground like he could do it in his sleep. He was shot down twice while flying LOACH missions in Viet Nam and wore a bracelet made from the tail rotor gearbox chain of one of the ships. I remember that day in vivid detail over 30 years later. Thanks for sharing the heli content. I know it took a lot for you to feel comfortable enough to do this.

Honestly, the reason I became a fan and told everyone I know to subscribe was because Cleetus knew nothing about cars. Now think about *everything* he has learned. Amazing amounts of knowledge on a very diversified set of subjects. I have *always* been impressed with his marketing and business skills while watching him learn and mature. Now lets give him credit for his amazing ability to drive anything. I was truly blown away that anyone could become competitive jet boat racing on their first try. In summary, I think Garrett diserves everything he has worked so hard for, and I am honored to be a OG Cleetus subscriber! Oh, the entire crew, family, friends and his support team ... All #1.

Before dropping the ice in of course. I mean, the Forstner would eat up the ice just fine, but the glass wouldn't do well. The Forstner is SHARP, so you need a glass tumbler.

My dream dream helicopter!! 160th SOAR Littlebird!!! Nothing more American than this 🇺🇸 Does Paul have a RU-vid channel? Thanks to Paul and to the veteran (or active?) air controller thst helped as well with the ground direction. Thankyou to both for your service in our amazing military. SO smart to practice sling loading for the mini jet bot and whatever else, we’ve seen Heavy D fly up many times with parts for snow vehicles , the cabin etc on his channel , landing in several feet of snow with SXS parts and snowmobiles belts, it’s a great thing and heck, if Maddie or your boy ever had an emergency you can fly to any hospital in a fraction of the time to drive . My brother runs Utahs Law enforcement agencies aviation department over all the helicopter wings of each agency and he also is the one they winch down in a rescue , he recently was on the news saving some smoke jumpers in a Forrest fire . He’s a legend. Great tos we you get into aviation .

Good job. It's a little easier from the left seat, but being so tall helps with the reach from the right seat. I used to fly 9 hours a day at 200', Florida, Georgia, Tennessee and South Carolina. No better job in the world. 5 engine failures over 3000 hours, keeps you thinking and planning for it. :D
@jiminauburn5073
@jiminauburn5073 Год назад
Just curious why it would be different between the right and left seat? Assuming that they are symmetrical on the helicopter, and the hook is in the middle. Does it have to do with the rotation of the helicopter, and the way the cable hangs under it?

Incredible teacher there, he made the whole thing fun for Cleet, and thats not trying to understate the fact Garrett has incredible talent which i can tell he still goes away in the background and practices away from the internet. I was saying to my wife the concentration required to hover while hanging out the door, Cleet would get out of the Heli (I still call them a Hughes 500 even though they dont exist anymore and this is a newer Mcdonall Douglas 530F) saying he felt like he just walked up a mountain all the muscles would be that tight. I was born in New Zealand and saw the old WWII warbird airshows where they'd use a Hughes 500D and pretend theyd picked up someones caravan saying it was blocking a gate, theyd fly infront of the crowd and drop it from 150ft and crowd watch it shatter into a pile on the ground. I was fully expecting this old airshow trick to spell the end of the Jetboat, so I was actually more impressed they didnt pull that old stunt and actually did put it back on the trailer.... Again, massive respect to Garretts abilities and even bigger respect to the team teaching you. ( I actually loved the lesson on stopping the pendulum - handy to know if you start to get into trouble near powerlines etc.)

The reel aces are the folks who become Warrant Officers in the US Military, Army Aviators are given the opportunity to fly with the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR) which Is the US Military's best. The USAF also has some super skilled pilots. Thanks for bringing back some memories from a couple of close friends who flew in Vietnam. In their cases they were shot down bringing wounded out of a very hot LZ. One became a quadriplegic and he lost both legs from the knees down. The other guy and became a quadriplegic. Both are still alive and I was honored to be their coach in the early 80;s, Both did their rehab at the West Roxbury VA west of Boston, MA, They remain my heroes for what they endured while being stuck in their helicopter for days. I was fortunate to do my spinal cord injury rehab in BU Medical Center in Boston. I broke my back following an off road motorcycle that left me a paraplegic. Great memories and a little sadness Clete, Keep refining those fine motor skills as a pilot. Repetition of perfect motor skill activities will ingrain in your brain over time and then you will ask yourself, why was it so hard? Keep it up with practice because it just might save your life.

While I understand he is already an experienced pilot, he essentially got an entirely new type rating AND put it to use in a real scenario in what..24 hours? Who in the world does that? An official type rating course for this rotorcraft, from Kachemak Bay Flying Service is 10 days and includes 22 hours of ground and 15 hours of flight training. I mean, just, who does that in a day? Not only that, but Cleetus also learned the skills for long lining on top of the base type rating skills. Absolutely incredible on so many levels.

Great work man!! The whole pendulum thing reminds me of my preferred form of aviation, I’m a free flight paraglider pilot (no motor) and I fly cross country in the mountains. The entire aircraft is basically a pendulum, us the pilot are at the bottom and we use our weight to pendulum and swing out to make turns, climb, dive, etc. pretty much every maneuver is using the pendulum effect, and we practice stalling the glider where we swing forward then let the gliding fly and it will shoot out in front of us, then we have to “catch” the shoot using the brakes on the glider, then stop the oscillations. We do lots of advanced training to learn how to do this, and we do this type of training over a lake with a rescue boat, it’s pretty amazing and terrifying, but in strong thermic conditions we have to know how to recover from a multitude of situations.
