This "Mei Maniac" blamed their tank.. What's the REAL problem?

Every time a video like this comes out, I prepare my soul to see my own name under the tank/ role being blamed.

For a player who wants to be a “Mei Maniac,” they sure spent very little time as Mei. Also, rather than practicing with other projectile heroes (a la Mei’s icicles), they mostly played hit scan.

it was so interesting how the mei got cassidys gun, echoes hand, soldiers gun, and pharahs rocket, best cosplayer

blaming the tank when they don't know hitting walls doesn't give ult charge is crazy

As a Doom main, I almost always pick the weak link of a team to dive onto. So the fact that this DPS was being hard targeted by him is really telling

Hi, I'm the tank in this game and what you guys don't hear is this guy yelling in chat and blaming everyone and getting very toxic. At the end he was so toxic is that the rest of us are so tired of listening to him yelled and getting into argument with other teammates it affect our gameplay. At the end of the game, a lot of people left chat.

That's a lot of non-Mei heroes for a Mei maniac.

Honestly the biggest problem I saw was the submitter being too lazy/scared to shoot the pharah, as the only character able to counter her, and when he did he mostly got diffed...

How do people follow emongg and watch his videos and not know to take 3 seconds to go high ground?

Btw Tank did amazing, Supps kept whole team alive, but dps were the weak link.

Honestly, I think the one holding them back was the second dps lol. Maybe a bit of a support diff as well. The tank did fine. He definitely should have stayed zarya or ball but he was probably getting the blame for them doing bad so he swapped. They just had no answer for Pharah

I always try to not give a wrecking ball value (as a support) by ignoring/dodging them and continuing to heal my team. but a GOOD wrecking ball, who won't let you ignore him, makes my life pain. you can't heal your team as you'd like to (and you can guess your team is annoyed by this) because you're busy fighting off the ball and pocketing your other support. there are times i get a nice dps who will make it his job to combat the ball so i don't have to, but when there's a good ball and no nice dps... it's pain. and even more pain if the enemy dps know how to play with a ball.

The pharah and doom really got into their head. Unfortunate :(

It sounds so exhausting to constantly be looking for someone on your own team to blame... Even if they are playing badly, just go to the next match. How will analyzing your temporary team mates playing help you improve?

The hardest part coming from OW1 is you have it programmed in your head shield shield shield shield. When in reality we have so many ways now and soon to come with a new passive to survive we don’t have to hide behind a shield all the time now. The real value is having a big health team member that gets value by pushing the other team around.

This is already a treat, in the first minute we saw them miss like 20+ icicles and their blizzard, surely its the tanks fault. 8 minutes into this video I think emongg hit the nail on the head because theyre getting shit on by this doomfist so clearly it's their tanks fault. That doomfist had punch and block but still died to a point blank high noon LMAO. This guy is also not amazing at hitscan either

This guy's positioning and movement were nonexistent. He never went high ground with Cass. Also terrible ult usage and very little target priority/focus. This guy is lucky to be in Plat. Right now I think his aim (not with icicles though) is the only thing that got him there.

As a Ball one-trick I legit get flamed in over 90% of my games. My performance is a minor variable since my team doesn’t always see what I am doing. Most people believe the same logical fallacy that “their tank is good so our tank is bad” when the 2 have no correlation with each other. I just ignore these people as inciting an argument will only hurt our chances at winning.

Depending on my team comp and the other team's comp. I generally expect my tank to face-tank. Be in the Frontline, mitigating damage. An example being mauga. But a tank like wrecking ball I expect a sombra's gameplay. Be annoying in their backline.

Zenyatta one-trick here(OW1 OG), personally after playing on tank with sigma since OW1 and then coming into OW2, the biggest weakest of Tanks is legitimately the DPS and Moira DPS players 80% of the time. They constantly over extend, rarely take high ground, and rather worry about their K/D ratio and always have the same excuse "oh but i has this many kills, so it wasn't me". Point is, they'll be the biggest critic to point out why Tank and Support were the problem but never consider that they were the problem. Aside from Moira its not even because of who they picked for DPS, its the fact you demonstrated to your team and enemy team you lack any form fundamentals and most likely were carried by everyone else

Personally, my expectations of a tank player vary a lot and it all depends on the tank they are using at the time. For example, with a dive tank like Winston, I don't expect to be 'protected' the same way I might be by a poke tank like Sigma. I get that they play completely differently and I will play around them as long as I believe (As a support main) that they are making the right choices with their kits. What do I mean by that? Well, I believe Tanks have the power to control the match by simply using their resources (cool-downs) effectively and understanding when to be aggressive and when to pull back. It's all about the tempo of a match, if my Tank can set that Tempo I will play to it no matter what. They use their resources effectively, have a good enough game sense and can set and control the tempo of the match, then that is my baseline expectation for tanks.

I am currently a plat 1 tank main. My favorite heroes being Rein, Winston, and Hog in that order (I can’t aim very well lol). What I expect of tanks depends on the composition of both teams but I’ll say in the case of rein, he is meant to guard the frontline, and possibly get some charge kills (trying to restrain the bloodlust to not feed by charging every fight), maybe the rein can deal with meddlesome genji, but he can’t be expected to peel with how fast he explodes, he buys time for DPS and prays support doesn’t look away for more than half a second at the wrong time. If Winston, they are to harass the enemy pokers, their job is to prevent a support or DPS from getting value, and it is the Winston’s team’s responsibility to deal with MOST flankers, tracer and genji being exceptions. Overall tank has a lot on their plate in 5v5 and one mistake can lose a team fight, so it’s more noticeable, nobody’s perfect, sometimes you go in to deep, sometimes you don’t swing when you should have, sometimes it’s not even your fault you died because the enemy team is discording and hacking and anti-nading you off cooldown. Moral of the story, don’t flame your tank, I promise they are trying very hard. Thank you for coming to my TED comment

As a tank main since OW1... I expect my tank to hold the front line. My DPS to keep watch on both flanks and my supports to keep eye on the dps while looking main. In my tank matches, I tell my team that I will watch main and make a play off of their flank. Either pinser the DPS or support or follow the enemy tank. I always look to peel back if needed yet I need my team to ping targets so I know who is the most threatening so I can move towards them immediately or after I complete my task

I just want a tank to know how to use their CDs well. Cant stand a tank spamming cds then saying they need healing cuz their out of cds

Love playing Tank, having 4/5 of the enemy team either distracted or blocked from my team, then my whole team dying to the one support that walked right by me.

15:08 my answer used to be to basically enable the rest of the team to make plays by shielding. Especially in OW1 back when we had so many shields that made it much easier to make a play. But now that I have started dabbling in some tank games myself, it has started shifting more towards, well, creating space. It is still enabling the rest of the team to make a play, but that thought is honestly for everyone. A tank enables the rest of the team to play by creating space. DPS enable the supports to play by peeling, and the tank to play by outputting damage so the tank won't get rolled and the supports, well that should be obvious. I think many people don't understand just how varied the tanks are and why they take different ways of playing.

I want my tank to push when they can, but listen to me ( a support main ) when I call for a group up. I expect them to try to take space and get elims, but remember to LOS me when they need heals. Most importantly DO NOT RUN IN 1 V 5 EXPECTING TO WIN. For the love of god, no hero can come out of spawn alone and kill an entire team. Stop running in 1 v 5 and play with the team.

I've never heard of that being said for Ball, perceived value, you put it excellently. I constantly worry about that as a Ball main, so know I now as long as I'm pulling their attention away I can assist and support my team

I believe a tank should either be full disruption or a wall/ damage sponge to body block a lot of shots (with exception of being below 25% health in which dps steps in for a second to distract). It should be a center piece for dps to rotate around while support sits behind the three. (I’m a support main with lots of tank experience. Can’t dps worth anything)

I think its also the dps is thinking " why isnt my tank fighting their tank and getting him off of me, their tank is is just running at me wheres my tank"

Quick take, I think there should be more "off tank" dps like mei to balance 5 v 5

I just expect the tank to be there, the tank just being there create space for the dps to do something. Being a tank player, that’s what i do when i see my dps need kinda of like a protection, if they don’t i just go get the back line and/or be annoying so my team can get an opening either way enemies turning their backs on them.

Missed opportunity to put "Mei-niac"

The absence of the “off tank” role in ow2 leaves a void for mei and characters like her to fill it’s hard to dominate on mei but you’re always the play maker.

Problem to me was the lack of followup by their teammates to kill phara. Even with good aim, it's hard to kill her by oneself. He was so focussed on killing her but when you cannot finish her off, you loose value.

I mostly agree about everything but the high ground. As a pharrah main id say and dps up there wouldnt last 5seconds and most tanks and support as well. If the other player is better i would just concussion them off even faster. Especially with the new dive play style. Cass would have to be a dead shot and cap me while at max speed and changing directions. With the new update it feels like the only real hard counters are a really good moira or a really really good sombra. Ik this was made at an earlier date kinda just chiming in while I poo.

Its funny how ppl dont see . The phara survivef more than 4 times with low hp cause cassedy was ground position and phara landed on jail roof to avoid geting killd! Normaly you do a mir stake one/ two times if you repeat the same mistake like 10 times you gota know somthing is wrong with you

I think this vod, it's on the supports. With ball being the tank, they dont get enough ult charge. So, really its a team comp issue.

what i want from my tank: i played a match with joystick when he was doing an unranked to gm rein a few days ago and it opened my eyes. i don't think i even saw him once, but i honestly think i took about 20 damage the entire game. i could just free fire. my ideal tank will draw attention and aggression during teamfights so i can have fun and play the game

This is most metal rank players, in general. They think the game is played in the open, on the floor. No off angles, no backline, no flanks, no cover, no health packs, no kiting. These are the same people who flame their teammates because they think they can feed and still win. This player is why tank and support suck to play. They demand to be babysat, and have everything done for them; but done their way. Then, when you do try to play the game their braindead way, you still lose and they still blame you. They will remain stuck between bronze and plat.

As a Tank player I have a counter to the Tank question... What i expect from my teammates, I play Primarily Rein and Ramattra and what I would like is for people to go in full send with me, Especially during a Shatter or Annihilation... It'd be nice for my DPS and Support to all in with me, if i need I'll peel for the supports and backline but it's so difficult to make plays when the team doesn't go in as well

Dunno if I’m right in thinking this but I expect the tank to play what’s needed if we’re being run over provide cover don’t play doom fist if we’re stomping play aggressive less defensive tanks. I have had a tank play doom vs pharah , echo , mercy , orissa , brig I blamed tank for loss he did nothing as every thing flew or blocked him

He asked a question about what we expect from our tank. As a support main who also plays all roles my biggest expectation is spatial awareness. That expectation trickles to damage to. Sometimes you get so zoned in you have no situational or spatial awareness. Screaming for support from heals and damage when you are 2v4 around a corner fighting an unsuccessful team fight. Have some spatial awareness.

So the question "what do you expect from your tank?" For me its a guy who protects the healers and keeps them from rushing through and ganking the back line. I don't think its ONLY their job to protect the back line but they should be keeping the enemy tank besides dive tanks from just walking past and wrecking. So pretty much I expect my tank to..... be a tank. Protect the back line and kite people away while keeping focus so the dps can do their job.

Only thing I get pissed off about is when a tank tries to 1v5 an entire team. Like that’s not how this works lol

I say this person should be a hit scan main get better aim not on mei.... As a mei main focus ultra on the support or try to get t a DPS and tank, big ults take to much time to find but finding 1 or 2 are always there ❤

I hear this every game in high diamond cause I main ball. I even played on my friends account to get him out of low bronze on tank, died 1 time in 5 games with around 30 eliminations each game, I still heard stuff like “tank swap”. Like there’s no supports and the dps are about to die

If a mei can't get value from their tank, then it's the mei's fault. The only reason she exists is to ensure that bad Reinhardt players are decently useful to their teams (if you haven't gotten pissed about an enemy mei player, then you haven't really played overwatch).

My healers are always pocket/pistol mercy and dps moria/illari 😂
