this looks like a boosted support to me. Rose thru the ranks by just damage boosting their duo. Evidenced by the fact they never look to really heal anyone else.

Hopefully its an awakening for this person to get better. Be a support for your entire team not just one and maybe the tank if needed

I feel for the Cassidy...plenty of times i can be right next to both healers be critical and not get a single heal. A lot of tunnel vision out there. Then they complain when you hit the need healing button once.

something important to mention is the mercy’s lack of awareness. as a mercy you should be looking around constantly. you should search for all of your teammates consistently and consider whether or not you’re needed or will be needed in certain situations. this mercy was looking straight forward or at their beam target quite often when they should have been looking at their surroundings far more. you should be looking towards doorways and other spots you know the enemy team could push in or flank from. you honestly should only be glancing towards your beam target every once in awhile. think of your beam target like checking your speedometer while driving. another good point to mention, as a mercy your job is to support your dps so the other support can focus on your tank, unless your playing with a low healing second support then you may need to heal your tank far more than usual.

As a support in 90% of games i play (because most just want to do damage), i agree with the keeping everyone healthy sentiment. Crits/headshots exist. And that 20 hp you healed may just let them survive one

No wonder they have experience in silver. That seems like where they belong with that level of awareness.

I'm actually impressed this mercy actually tried to rez someone else than her duo, but watching the other dps just not getting heals hits way to close to home. When I'm supporting I'm always looking to top off everyones health, but when I dps I just play around healthpacks, I never expect any heals. Too many of these tunnelvisioned duos out there

Man, that junk/sym/cas/bastion is me a lot of the time when I play dps lol. I’ll walk up to my supports face after a fight, stare at them with half my health for a few seconds and then have them walk away to move up with the tank at the next fight, and I’m still sitting on point with low hp 😂

Mercy /is/ a pocket support. That is where most of her value comes from. With that being said some people take that too literally and pick one person to prioritize without much consideration of what is actually going on/who the better beam target would be in the given circumstance. This is primarily a case of needing better target priority imo. You can pocket one DPS and still top off the other/keep them in mind,, sure there will be niche situations that call for hard pocketing but I mean generally speaking.

The terrible performance on Kiriko makes me believe even further that this Mercy is boosted by just damage boost botting their duo

5:16 just a small quick note here - turning your camera to the floor during res doesn't protect your head hitbox. you're locked in the upright animation for res regardless of where you are looking. so don't bother doing that and instead use the 1.75 seconds to look for an escape route and look for what you need to do next. imo, bastion is a much better damage boost target than hanzo, so i think choosing to stick with hanzo after they swapped to bastion was a poor choice. boosting turret form and bastion right click is massive, so you definitely did not help put pressure on the enemy team on last point. tbh, i know this isn't true, but the way you've ignored the other dps does make it seem like you've got a grudge against them. that's how pervasive and consistent the issue has been. i know you don't lol sometimes we just make mistakes and they're not intentional at all. but it's a sign that this was a pattern of behavior and not an isolated mistake 10:01 you seem to have a habit of just staring at your beam target. try to look around more. it will let you be more proactive and it will give you the information you need to position well and anticipate what might happen next. 11:00 i sorta disagree with emongg here. cassidy was safe and under no pressure and not doing damage to the other team (which is fine, they were capping the point) and only missing a tiny bit of hp. the rest of the team was pushed up and taking and doing damage. its way more valuable to support those teammates and then heal cassidy when there's a bit of downtime. BUT to be honest, based on your gameplay as a whole, I don't think this was an intentional play on your part. I'm not confident you even noticed or processed that they needed healing, which is a major red flag and issue you need to work on addressing. 14:05 kinda wasted valk here. your teammates were all low ground, the enemy was high ground, and no one was in a position to really do damage to the enemy. the only time you really got any value at all was in the last 3-4 seconds. wait until the team fight has properly begun and your teammates are in good positions to do damage to the enemy. thats when you will have impactful valks. 14:31 okay gamer lol you tunnel visioned on wanting to get a kill and turned your back on your entire team when you could see that your Ashe got really low while you were beaming them. this 100% seems like you just wanted an elim for the sake of an elim, not because you getting the elim was the most valuable contribution you could make to the team in that moment. gotta watch out for that because that's how you can easily lose team fights. 14:54 i disagree with emongg. an enemy was on the bridge staring at the corpse and it was entirely in the open. going for that res would have been incredibly silly. 15:14 I'm generally a big fan of boosting a zarya but zarya already has ult and cass doesn't AND cass has reliable long range damage. boost cassidy here. 15:50 always damage boost cass ult and i also think you should typically try to body block for them so they don't get slept or something. it was the end of the round, sure, but it's a good habit to get into. (edit: i didn't see that you were damage boosting at the end, mb, but i think body blocking was a better idea than going for the kill on ashe BUT i think it's a matter of opinion in this case) 18:12 falling back was definitely a safer more than going forward towards the enemy team. i get it, you were getting damaged and we all panic sometimes, but flying towards the enemy team is guaranteed death. 18:27 I don't understand why you don't damage boost your reaper here and why you stop beaming them. reaper may not typically be an S tier damage boost target, but they are looking to do damage so boosting them is infinitely more valuable than doing absolutely nothing as you do here for several seconds 19:56 why on earth are you on cart? you should know cart isn't Mercy's job right now. your tank is right there on cart. you unnecessarily put yourself in such a dangerous position and weren't even looking around to get more information, you just smushed your face against the cart lol 20:01 prioritize cover first. you NEED to stay alive here and there was absolutely no reason you should have sacrificed safety for speed here. just get around the corner first and then res. you dying is the reason your team didn't have a chance to win this last fight, and you could have easily prevented this death. overall, i think you have a lot of very basic fundamentals that you need to focus on. you prioritize damage boost very well, but your overall awareness needs a lot of work. you need to remember that your job is to support your TEAM, not just one person. yes, you can contribute a lot of value by damage boosting, but this doesn't mean the rest of the team isn't your responsibility. if you can trust your other support to heal the tank, you should focus on keeping the dps up when everyone is playing together. BOTH of them. also, look to damage boost whoever is actively doing damage, not the on-paper "ideal" target who isn't even in position to do damage yet. overall, just work on paying more attention to your entire team. constantly check on everyone's health and their positioning. consider positioning in places where you can help your current beam target but also quickly help the rest of your team too, if possible. focus on remembering that you need to support the TEAM, not just one person.

Diamond Kiriko here. this kiriko is hella boosted, this was awful for diamond. ALL of their suzus were late, their positioning was awful, they NEVER weave damage between heals and when they DO contribute damage they miss all their shots good lord if your other support is ana, stop standing next to her. take a different angle. do some damage. do SOMETHING to contribute to winning the game

as a mercy main this pained me to watch lmaoo😭 when she randomly stopped moving and she’s just not looking around and not paying attention to her team really ticked me off

10:39 this is a huge pet peeve of mine. Support not looking around to top people off when absolutely nothing else is happening.

This player has low silver awareness at best lmao whats even going on? How are they in any world saying "my team mates in plat are better than the ones in Diamond"? Actually I think I know why. I think the tempo of fights is generally lower in plat, which lets this support player keep up with who needs help when, and actually don't get punished for slacking on how quick they react with healing the right allies at the right time. In Diamond things move a lot faster, so neglecting or being unaware is punished much faster, which leads to your team mates dying more. Not because they're worse, but because you as a support are failing at keeping up with the general tempo of the Diamond match. Your ability use is what keeps you above silver. Your lack of awareness is what's keeping you from actually deserving a higher rank. On average I'd rate this as gold - mostly because supports can get a lot of value without too much input rn and that benefits this player a lot.

Typical mercy main "you tell me I'm not healing you so I start playing like you don't exist", the problem is that with that atrocious aim kiriko was indeed not healing enough.

How is this diamond? LOL I feel like you were being way too nice on the kiriko, she could've 100% done more. Even 2 mins into the video, there's so many mistakes: delayed reaction, delayed suzu, heal botting teammates who are only 10 hp down, lack of tp usage, absolutely no aggression. This team was a mess

As someone who finally hit diamond 2 after months climbing from bronze, I’ve been in silver and let me tell you they’re not the same at all. This supp has terrible awareness/reaction timing, very sad.

So everyone saying the DPS was the duo; unless they said so specifically I'm actually 100% positive it was the 2nd support. The reason why I think this is the Mercy/Kiri wasn't healing that other DPS, and neither was the Ana. Which makes me think, that the 2nd DPS started whinging after that first death, and Mercy and Ana both made a cabal to ignore them and be petty. Now it can happen with non-duo'd supports if a DPS is consistently toxic that they'll both get on the same page about doing this, but it happened so early, I'm pretty sure this is a support duo.

I do think it’s good generally to keep everybody at full HP, although not be so obsessive about it that you healbot. The number of times when playing DPS or Tank that I have lived with only a handful of HP has convinced me that those missing 1-2 hit points really do matter.

i usually get into games where the support isn’t healing me when i’m literally next to them standing still spamming heals . i usually have a duo and we both play dps so we always get that one healer who just pockets their friend

other than the hanzo/ashe, she seems to be also healing the tank way more than the other dps at least which is kind of crazy. I mean it’s not illegal for a mercy to heal a tank, but when a tank is close to full hp and your crit dps is standing right by you it’s best to heal them right?? but nah heal the tank that’s already being healed by the ana 😭 thats why I feel like not healing the cass/sym was on purpose honestly

That was a pocket and a half lmfao, in all seriousness though I think I would personally be infuriated by this, I've had it happen to me throughout an ENTIRE match and there was no reason behind it. Was with the team, tried my my best with positioning, would be standing right next to the supports...nothing. Mind you being a support main, I do cut some slack because I understand there are moments it can't be done, positioning might just be bad, they're pushing too hard, over extending, ect but this, this is ridiculous not only that but it staggers your team, almost every fight its straight to a 4v5 because they weren't healing when they could have. Not only that but as Emongg said too at some point during the video, missing the opportunities to boost specific teammates like a bastion, are you kidding me.....dude. Diamond in all 3 roles tank main and i never play mercy (pc and console) and even i know dont play her when your dps is hanzo sym. As a Mercy player every once in a while, I hate it when people assume that Mercy will stick on you 24/7. I had a Pharah literally yell at me because I let go to help my support duo help heal the team (plus he was just not hitting shots anyways so I left). Mercy isn’t just a pocket, she’s best played when you actually help heal around on EVERYONE.

You know this person is over rated cause someone complained about not enough healing and they thought mercy was a better healer than kiriko

Honestly the tank could have switched to a more prominent character that can mitigate damage which was why I think they didn't want to peak as much to heal sym since she was always in the line of sight of their hitscan

ana was their duo, sym/bastion/cas made a shitty comment at some point in the very beginning (ex: support diff ggs), duo offended and intentionally did not heal him unless absolutely necessary for the rest of the game. LITERALLY the most miserable people to play OW with like get over it just play the game boooo youre boring!!!!!! (the supports being the worst btw not the dps)

This mercy plays exactly like a friend of mine.. He's high as balls having full blown conversations on the phone while he play and the only reason he got out of silver is because I boosted him. Let's not talk about the kiriko gameplay either, did absolutely nothing helpful. Don't expect lobbies like this in diamond

It feels that way, but i blame the 50/50 matchmaking. It always feels like you're in the same rank because you get awful games at the same frequency. I had a similar feeling, where gold, plat, and diamond games *felt* similar, but when I made an alt account to learn different characters, i saw the difference clearly.

i'd say it's a hard takeaway - in silver you could probably get away not healing so much and leave more of the healing to your other support for ult economy (which is great, ez ana nano's), however, being diamond myself, people RARELY miss their shots so I always find it imperative to at least keep people above 3/4 health before damage boosting anything. Yes mercy doesn't have the best healing in the game but she still can heal fairly well compared to what dps and tanks can do and people don't seem to realize that. Blue beam is a luxury not a priority. That said I do feel this mercy did seem to ignore the other dps on purpose (probably because of the first complaint) but it's competitive and decisions like that does accost the team a victory. I do hope they learn from this and develop some awareness. Mercy players have that unique advantage of being spatially aware as they don't need to aim to heal, so it's easier to keep tabs on who needs healing and where the enemies are.

No way this is diamond. This mercy's awareness is really clunky. It just feels weird? Like so many times her teammates walk past her and get low hp. But she just ignores them??? Usually they hide and she eventually gets to them. But her reaction time is so incredibly slow. Not to mention pocketing only this hanzo for some weird reason when symmetra, bastion, and junkrat has incredible damage output??? The flight patterns were also kind of weird and so much afking and not looking around properly. I dunno, usually when I see mercy. It's constant spinning and looking around to keep eyes fully on the field. Not just tunnel visioning. It's so weird watching this gameplay truthfully.

Diamond is probably the most diverse rank in the game. It's what separates average players from good players. And so it's half full of plat players on a good day, and half filled with potential masters

a lot of your commentary i agree w, but around the 10:30 mark, i v much disagree... why heal a teammate for a few hp who is well out of the fight when you can assist teammates actively engaged? you can use cues like sound and sight to see if an enemy is flanking from the left side of pt to assess if you need to help that cassidy

My biggest issue with low ELO healers. Is they tether to one person, but don't look around while healing that tether. Like they need to be hitscanning their heal or something. Mercy should have the BEST awareness because she can tether and look EVERYWHERE while they still heal. VS healers like Illari and Ana

The other dps tried so hard to carry and just got no heal, proceed to lose the game, it must be a bad matchmaking for them. btw the amount of time this mercy super jump for no reason in front of enemies in the open infuriated me, that was the free-est kills I've seen and somehow this "diamond" lobby kept letting him get away with this bs.

I feel like through the ENTIRE video I was recognizing when players were about to take damage a full 1-1.5 seconds before the mercy/kiriko player. They just need to work on reaction speed (and maybe also awareness of what's happening in a team fight so you know what is about to happen before it happens).

I swear that silver games are like trials to late rank group I’ve played against some crazy genji , junkrat , henzo, sojourn etc players , that’s literally impossible that you end a game with over 25k damages at this rank , people are not that good yet
