I actually have a theory for the tail shop. They were first invented for disabled mermaids who had a fin missing or something, but then it got so commercialized they actually exploited the heck out of that market just to make profit out of it. And thus Oceana became a society who reaps of the benefits of the merpeople who need it most just to enrich the upper class by imposing fashion and aesthetics. Did I really think about this hard for a Barbie movie? Yes. Was it during 3 am and let my intrusive thoughts win? Yes.

I think the tail shop is like a trousers shop, they sell better looking layers of clothing for your boring tail just like we buy different trousers to put on our legs. And you don't take of your legs to put on new trousers.

I always thought that they changed tales for the sake of fashion. Like that's the only way of changing colours and decorations. Kind of like people who wear wigs even if they have hair.

One of my favorite things to do is to watch your Barbie reaction videos love them. I remember after I first saw this when it came out I pretended to be a mermaid all to time when swimming. I mean I’ve always done that when I was little but more so after seeing this movie or any mermaid movie. Brings back so many good memories rewatching it. I know some Barbie movies without talking animals- Thumblina, Nutcracker, Rockin Royals, Charm School and Magic of Pegasus. Plus Fashion Fairytale has the animals talking to each other but doesn't have the humans understand them.
