The oldest "conversation pit" i've ever seen, was Adolf Loos's design for Kraus apartment in Pilsen 1905. Adolf Loos was famous Austro-Hungarian architect of Czech origin, who influenced many european architects of the time. That pit still looks fresh and modern even after 120 years
I love Becky in this series. Please let her do a lot more videos about the 50s-70s! And please do us the favor and show all those old pictures of rooms and design pieces a lot longer. it's almost stressfull for me to watch it like this. i would prefer a longer and more detailed video.
The Millers who commissioned what is now known as The Miller house in Columbus, Ohio, lived in their home with a sunken living room until their deaths. Mr Miller was 94 and his wife survived him by four years. Old people are not a monolith who invariably end their life in a carehome.
@@eattherich9215 good for them? I betchya it would have been easier without a sunken living room. just saying. As a wheelchair user, I wouldn't be included. There is a saying in universal design: when you design for the 3% minority, you make it inclusive for everyone.
The Millers commissioned the house as a family home and lived there until death. A lot homes are built that clearly excludes the less able, so you need to take up your grievance with the building industry and not drag me over the coals for pointing out some facts that were specific to the Millers.
