No pro tip for you here: Been fishing for bass in the San Diego lakes for many, many years. Now fishing southern AZ as well .In my experience, when fishing plastic worms, if you think you're "bit", swing for the fence!! Looking silly for a few minutes is far less embarrassing than losing a bass near the boat! Great video, thanks for posting. Loving Arizona!
Pro tip: when you get bit, swing and miss, do NOT reel in immediately. Let the bait drop back to the bottom and finish the cast as planned. You will put alot more fish in the boat!
Nice! You're spot on about fishing getting better as the day goes on. It's like that nearly every time I go. Can get very windy later in the day though. Some nice fish you got there.
Actually, 9-10 at Apache is about the hot time right now. Most fish are going to be suspended about 3-5 feet from the bottom with those depths and temps. The water is low right now all over. Makes it easy to parallel the banks with deep cranks and jigs while staying in the strike column above the thermocline. Love that lake for top water baits early then jigs after about 8am
@@SendItVibesthis was a great comment . The lake with its narrow channels does make it fairly easy to target fish and know when yur in that strike zone . The rock only goes so far out and than it’s soft mud. So as long as yur feeling that rock yur in the right spot . We did fine a few patterns on different types of rock as well throughout the day
Back in 1974 I caught a 21 inch 14 pounder trolling a 4 inch heart shaped green deep diving frog looking lurer on my 202 zepco fishing rod. Looking for picture can't find it right now though. Beautyful Lake. Still remember my dad trying to take my rod from me🤣🤣🤣
I bet the 6 lber got the weight! I just fished st clair and those big smallmouth will grab onto the drop shot weight SO HARD until they jump and come off!
@@SouthwestFishing That blows my mind! I kill at Apache but I have never had any luck at canyon. It's the one lake I don't consistently do well on. Been there 3 times in 2yrs in my kayak and caught one bluegill...from the bank. What's your secret? =)
Honestly, I was waiting to get bit by one. When I get back out there, I’m gonna specifically target them. I do know they had a rough time with the golden algae a while back. I’m sure there’s still a ton in there though.
Its definitely busy but at least Roosevelt is big enough to where it’s not like saguaro. Roosevelt is busy to because all the tournaments that are held there.
