Few mistakes Ludi imo 1) canceling french cores was pointless, you should have returned dauphine to yourself (France still had unrevorkeable core on Maine, so its not boosting relations) 2) in war with Aragon its worth to return sicilian cores to Naples - reducing relative power and making Naples loyal no matter what
@LudietHistoria
@LudietHistoria 2 года назад
I really considered returning dauphine, but here's why that would not be good. By revoking their cores, their relations went from -55 cause of me owning their cores to -15, and that essentially gave me 2 years of improve relations. Not to mention my ruler was 66 at the time and if he died, i would have lost the Pu, so that was my main concern. Yeah the aragon returning cores to naples I agree with, would have made 2 equal sized PU members, both easier to keep in czech!

In one of my run as Aragon charles VII and Louis XI died after 2 years ig or something like that, then François of trastamara went on the throne at 18 years but he died after one year and France fell off into a PU with castille and it led to a succession war with England. While at this time I was no Cb sieging byzantium. I had disinherited Joan II earlier so when alphons died I had a regency and I got iberian wedding in 1451, so basically I had Spain + France after 6 years of playing. And soon enough I crushed the ottomans and so on. But this wasn't a iron man. It still happened without savescuming, so quite impressive.

Great video again, Ludi! Recently I had a Provence playthrough and even though I wasn't so lucky with the French union early, I got the Burgundian Inheritance in ~1455. Btw After completing the Provence mission tree, do you suggest forming Sardinia-Piedmont, Jerusalem or any other nation? What is the most OP choice?
@LudietHistoria
@LudietHistoria 2 года назад
I recommend form jerusalem AND sardinia piedmont after! also can do austria later on for more diplo annex reduction! Most op choice is jerusalem
@horstschlemmer9578
@horstschlemmer9578 2 года назад
@@LudietHistoria Another good choice is forming France after Sardinia-Piedemont. You dont even have to shift culture bc the mission tree does it for you, you get pu on castille and vassilize cb on poland. Plus France is no endgame tag, so you can still form Austria after.

Great fun, Lubi! Like his vid, people! I want to see more, + Saluzzo, which I only recently failed at, LOL. Provence, if played right - as demonstrated here - is the most frightening country in Europe. Btw, that Inf + Adm annexation reduction Policy is the main reason to take Adm Ideas, afaic. I'm a maniacal zealot for Innovative ideas and as such find the CCR bulb in Adm a little underwhelming. However: your effective use of mercs makes Adm in general seem a lot more attractive.
@LudietHistoria
@LudietHistoria 2 года назад
Very true, especially in the early game, the mercs bonuses from ADm are not that bad, but truly the most important reason why is to get the annexation reduction bonuses!

I was actually curious about the tiny snippet of history you brought up at the beginning so i researched a bit, and yeah rene was just one of the many appenages of late Medieval France, essentially non dauphine princes were very strong dukes with semi autonomy, still technically French subjects but the Valois kings had little practical power over them, but EU4 doesn't have a good way to portray them without a new mechanic. Anyway i think the reason provence specifically is independent is because of Rene's personal holdings and claims in other non French kingdoms which made him more powerful than other princes, but as you said provence was never an independent state
@aldbgbnkladg
@aldbgbnkladg 2 года назад
might be the same for Burgundy, isn't it
@yaldabaoth2
@yaldabaoth2 2 года назад
France gained Provence only in 1481. Provence was not part of the French crown before that. In fact, Rene was king of Naples (Provence was just an appendage of Naples if anything) in his own right before he was kicked out by Aragon. What Ludi probably meant was "The duchy of Provence" not existing. Provence was never a duchy, it was a county. Still much bigger and richer than some duchies in the HRE but that is how feudalism worked sometimes.
