I absolutley agree. Clearly it was a classic day. I have never seen the "crosstown" paddle in before as opposed to the straight at the beach normal. Kia Ora from New Zealand
yeah the cross paddle is caused by North/North West swell bouncing off the jetty. the place is absolutely wicked in the end of summer with a South swell whipping around the jetty into a warm offshore wind if your into this type of stuff. when it's firing oak and brook reefs in Laguna, salt creek or trestles is where I'll be.
Leandro Pimentel Newport Beach/Balboa Island in southern california! (actually it's a peninsula but we all say "balboa island") the place fires neck breaking shore pounders. when it's going off the ambulance stays parked on the beach!
There are three names for gravelles. The break next to the WEDGE. Number one. Numb Bun. 2. She sells sea sells in your eyeballs. 3. Why arn't you at the WEDGE!?!
Machado is full of acai...ur telling me he's never been to newport beach before...guy is from cardiff...getting sick of the whole manufactured vibe they sell on him. .I'm out
Of course he's been there. But he's never surfed the wedge. That what he said. It's called listening... Why is that so hard to believe? If I lived in Cali, I would never surf the wedge unless I started boogie boarding again! And your obviously a boog, so you probably realise that standing up out there is kind of suicidal/a joke.... Rob is the man. He doesn't really surf heavy waves usually. More of a stylish cruiser/ripper👍. Let's face it it's a body boarders/skimboarders wave really?? I used to froth over it when I was a body boarder.. There must be literally thousands of really good surfers in Cali who have never and will never surf the wedge stand up. I mean why bother really unless you enjoy breaking boards and bodies??? Leave it to the boogs I say!!!
The Wedge is a BODY SURFING BREAK. Please take the silly ego trip with the hard boards elsewhere, like any one of hundreds of actual surf spots along the coast where there are no body surfers. If you want awesome barrels Newport Point is just up the road (you drove past it on the way to the Wedge.)
