Hey guys! Editor here, hope you enjoyed this journey through the Planet of the Apes trilogy! It was a ton of fun to put these together and I know Alex really enjoyed these movies. We've got a lot of exciting stuff down the pipeline and I can't wait to show you guys! But until then, I hope you enjoy the reaction and I'll see you guys in the next video, much love! (I sounded way too much like Alex there lmao)
Caesar is basically Moses. He grew up “in the king’s house”, than he spoke to god and got enlightened, saves his people from slavery and death and dies seeing them arriving at the promised land.
Loosely based on Moses, but yes, essentially. There are certainly similarities between Caesar’s story and Moses’. Although, Moses himself never really saw a day of real slavery in his life. Caesar experienced it being put in that tiny sanctuary in the first movie. But Moses was chilling living a pretty great life even by Egyptian standards most of the time, and once every like 6 months in reality, he’d go talk to the pharaoh and profess the will of the Lord, and pharaoh would be like “Tf? Lol, get out of here with that, dude.” Also, Caesar got to see the Promised Land of the apes; Moses did not. Moses was included in the generation that the Lord doomed to die before seeing the Promised Land. It was Joshua, under direction by Moses before his death in the desert, who was one of the first people to lay their eyes on the Promised Land of Canaan, a land of Milk and Honey.
Thanks for the answer! Obviously it’s not a 1:1 compression, but he is definitely more Moses than Jesus as Alex alluded to. Like Moses he was rescued at birth, grew up with humans/the king in high standers. Like you said, Moses himself never sufferd the fate of his Hebrew brothers and sisters and was never a slave. And according to the scriptures, even though he never stepped foot in the lands - Moses did “see” the promises land, from Mount Nebo, just beyond the Jordan River.
Noticed the grey bits on ceaser and some of the other apes whos been with him from the beginning, thought that was a nice touch to show hes not a young one any more ❤
I went into this movie thinking it was gonna be an action epic. Instead, I got a biblical story laced with Star Wars and Apocalypse Now, and I couldn't have been more happy with how it all ended.
I feel like In War, they played the religious themed really well. It was subtle, but clear at the same time. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, in my opinion, gods a little too intense with comparing Caesar to Jesus. It’s sort of in your face the whole entire time.
@@johnnyrocket1685 It kind of made sense the apes will exaggerate Ceaser's story after centuries of telling his story mouth to mouth. Our human mythologies must've had some truth to them but were distorted extremely over the centuries
One of the deleted scenes in this movie, mentions that Malcolm the human lead in the previous movie met his demise at the hand of this colonel... Such a sad ending for Caesar's good friend...😢😢😢
Something just came to my mind, I might be missing something but Caeser and Maurice out of most apes are the few apes that have names most human-like and common names, probably in a way to humanize them. It’s same as caeser learning that they are more alike than either side really sees, both Caesar and Maurice are the ones that pick up that both apes and humans really are two different sides of the same coin
Ceasar was named bc of the julius ceasar title in ancient rome. It was foreshadowing on the grandpa's(first movie)part abt him becoming a leader & conqueror. Maurice was former circus animal. Both have been named by humans, the other apes named themselves & eachother. So in a sense it's to show how they were raised by humans which anthropomorphes them. Also in nature orangutans are the smartest & most peaceful apes. Chimps come in second in intelligence but aren't as peaceful. So think that's made on purpose too not just to make them stand out better.
@@greyscalesxI don’t necessarily mean in plot standpoint, more of out of the eyes of the viewers. But for sure the ones exposed to humans and the ones that grew up with them would be most understanding to the humans and the human condition.
@@greyscalesx If I remember correctly as well Bonobos are also one of the most peaceful apes as well, which was also what Koba was, which just shows just how much Humans impacted him as well.
@@greyscalesxthey are named after the original movies. In the very first set of Planet of the Apes movies, they use the name of "Ceasar" As the ape that founded their civilisation, and Maurice was an old and wise ape that was almost like a president as far as i can remember. These are human names because they were at the highest position in their society.
@princeleefelix Yeah, 'cause Bad Ape just is mean, especially when he just accepted a label that was thrust on him by ignorant hateful humans. Dustin feels more like a proper name.
@@sebastianemond5313 "feels more like a proper name [than Bad Ape]" F to all the Dustins out there lmao edit: it's not what you meant at all, I just twisted it :D
Alex words can’t express how much joy has come into my life since I found your channel. You are a golden soul and you can be a little much at times but all in all youre f awesome dude.
@@TheXshotrocket flipped to being a big bully to one of Caesars most loyal followers is personally why I prefer him. Even going as far as saying I follow Caesar when his son was shot
@@TheXshot I think I'm taking the whole trilogy into consideration and not just War. Rocket was one of the OGs, and despite their rocky start, he's been one of Caesar's right hands since the beginning.
Woody Harelson is by far the best villain of the Cesar trilogy. Maybe the best in the entire series. He's evil for sure, but understandable as well at this point
Man was this so fun to rewatch these movies with you, i love how much emotions this one brought to you cause it is just an amazing end for our hero i think 🙃 and now that Kingdom is available on Disney + imma go watch it quickly before your video drops lol 😁
This is the first movie where watching it with Alex I actually like it more now, love how enthused he was by this and the positive perspective he gave it
War for The Planet of the Apes is definitely my favorite movie in the franchise. Even though it's heartbreaking, I still love it and think Matt Reeves did an amazing job.
I have 5 fave apes from Rise, Dawn, War, (1) Caesar (2) Rocket (3) Maurice (4) Bad Ape (5) Blue Eyes and from Kingdom (1) Noa, (2) Anaya (4) Raka (5) Soona
When the colonel said he had to killed his only son , it was a reference to god sacrificing his only son , ion know if it was obvious or not but just wanna let you know
Alex do you remember the character Malcolm in Dawn? In a deleted scene from War Malcolm goes to see the coronel to tell him not to go after Caesar and his tribe to leave the apes in peace as they don’t want a War but the coronel shoots Malcom killing him then he tells Caesar about it after Caesar got caught. Take care 😘🏴
This is my favourite one of the franchise... Maurice is amazing my favourite then ceasar then rocket. Still say Andy Serkis should of won an Oscar for this. It is brilliant. This franchise makes me feel every human emotion and dont think you can watch it and not be team ape but thats IMO. Great reaction guys. Much love from Scotland
Wild. All those editor notes was like having two people reacting to the movie. Maybe the editor should be on the show or have his own show so we can hear even more of their thoughts. Wonder why movie editors don’t add their own notes to their movies. Imagine how cool it would be if you are watching a film and you can have some helpful editors notes telling you some insights and letting you know the answers to the questions your mind comes up with during the film.
I get frustrated because many reactors who react to Rise, Dawn, and War, never react to the original 1968 version or its sequels. The newer movies pay homage to those movies so well, but very few of the reactors watch them. They miss so many easter eggs. But, the three newer movies stand alone really well, and I love all three as well as Kingdom...that being said, they aren't on the same level as the original movie. At least watch it at some point. I'm thinking the new trilogy is going to work up to the same time period that Taylor exists in and finish retelling that story. Anyway, please watch the 1968 movie if you haven't already. You won't regret it. And, as I've said, I enjoyed Kingdom a lot and I recommend it highly
@genekent2391 - GMTA - we posted at about the same time.... Hi Aaron, please tell Alex I loved this review.... however, when he started his 'Apes' journey, he made a crack about the original 1968 film. Tell him he has no idea what he's missing. There are only a couple popular reaction channels that have done all 10 of the Apes films. He'd have a blast with each of them, not to mention they'd look good in one file on his main page. Btw: good job with the editing.. you make him come off soo much less creepy : : : snickering like rocket raccoon after asking bucky.. how much for the arm?? : : :
24:44 that could be one of the reasons I think the other two reasons though is one donkey is a type of animal used to carry stuff and two donkey can mean the a word.
Maurice is the coolest, most loving OG orangutan ever. 1: Maurice 2: Ceasar 3: All gorilla lieutenants in all the movies. Because gorillas (except Winter) are the bravest, most loyal apes. 4: Rocket 5: Nova, the little girl. I love every moment she is on the screen. Who cares that she's not an ape. She is mighty.
Yo I just want to say I love your videos so much and I find your videos either extremely hilarious or extremely depressing 😂❤ also 1. Bad ape 2. Maurice 3. Caesar
I love how the music is happy when Caesar is dying, because he gets to picture his paradise. But when he dies, the music grows more somber, because that is the emotion that everyone else is feeling after he passes
Definitely one of the best trilogies in cinematic history. It might feel like Kingdom is not as good in comparison because of the standard this trilogy set for it, but personally I loved the next movie just as much.
I love rocket sm always loyal to ceasar even after koba killed ash he listened to ceasar first rather than going to seek revenge at the end you can see him quickly walk up to ceasar with a fee other apes
One of the best science fiction trilogies ever. The first movie is good and built a good foundation for the characters, but once Matt Reeves took over the franchise with Dawn and War, it just went way up on a whole different level of incredible. Caesar is one of the best protagonists we’ve gotten. His entire journey is so beautiful.
I just love these movies. I’m actually working on a tattoo I want to get. It’s going to start with Caesar’s symbol then go from there. Haha. Love your reactions !
Trauma indeed which I suppose just must it was well done to do so. I swear and it was not expected that this series and the character of Caesar have gone down as some of my favorites in cinema. Or if anything else worthy study on "how to tell a story/how to make a film".
At the end of the day there's no difference between a "bad ape" and a "bad human" Evil doesn't have a recognisable face but it can grip the heart of anyone. Which is why everyone should do their best to protect and care for those they love whilst practicing empathy and understanding. Don't let this cruel world warp your kind souls into a monster.
