The scene with Kurt Russell drowning ALWAYS gets me sobbing. Not only does his character act so much like my late dad and kinda look like a brunette version of him, but his acting is PHENOMENAL in that scene. He's a fantastic actor overall but goddamn, it looks so genuine that he's drowning. It's so terrifying.

@@isuckatthesegames7119 I like both the original and the 2005 miniseries. You know why? Because the 2005 miniseries kept the original characters for the most part and only slightly expanded the cast. The 2006 movie completely ditched the old characters in favour of shallow and unlikeable ones, which is the main reason why the 2006 movie is my least favourite film of the three.

This is a roller coaster ride of emotions.... not my first time seeing this but I enjoyed the reactions as much as the movie . There were several scenes where I realized I was holding my breathe . I felt so horrible when Marco got shaken off the leg of Richard.... that was a tough scene . I really wanted Kurt / Robert to live but if it were not for him pushing that Port button none of the others would have made it outside.... he died a Hero . There is so much action in this film I don't know how hard it was for the cast to film this . They probably stayed on land a long time after filming this but I think it was worth filming.... so much action and thrills for me it is so easy to get caught up in what's going on . This was a great one.... Thank you Tim.

This almost happened in real life! Back in 1942 the ocean line Queen Mary was being used as a troop ship during WW2. She was hit by a 92 foot rogue wave and listed 52 degrees before she was able to right herself. If she listed another 3 degrees she would have capsized. She was carrying at total of 11,339 soldiers and crew members. I don't think very many people would have survived if she did roll over completely. Well it did happen with the Costa Concordia with 4000 passengers on board. The only thing that prevented Costa from being a titanic level disaster was she capsized in shallow water. If Costa concordia capsized in deeper water, she'd have turned full upside down trapping hundreds inside instead of dozens. Instead the hundreds that hadn't gotten off on lifeboats yet or hadn't been picked up by fishermen from the sea were able to stay on the side of the ship which was flat enough to walk on

I think what's more fascinating about this movie is the fact Pokemon kind of did this idea, just less violent. Yes, grant it, tipped over ships isn't an uncommon element in media, but the fact it is survivors of a shipwreck hit by waves and they survive all kinds of dangers as they head down (up technically) in the ship to escape it from sinking more is pretty wild. And the episode was made in 1997, by the way. Edit: ok... just learned about when "The Poseidon Adventure" came out, the original movie... so Pokemon took inspiration.

Although I like the 2006 version, but it must be recognized that the 1972 version is deeper and more dramatic, of a slower pace, allowing the viewer to digest the drama better, the 2006 version is very fast-action blockbuster, and that takes away depth and ends up being a film of superficial catastrophe, even so I find it entertaining, but it lacks depth and a better human drama in the face of a tragedy of this type, than the version of '72, had that dramatic depth.

Rogue waves can happen in the middle of the ocean, and what the officer is trying to do is get over the wave before it truly crusts meaning when it forms the wave when it hits the beach it is possible to get over these but it’s very difficult to do so I’ve actually asked my grandma who worked in the power squadron as we saw, he couldn’t turn the ship in time

I just think of it differently. This movie is simply a standard disaster film. You watch it so you can watch characters go through something traumatic and unrealistically find a way to survive. It's a weird thing to like but I can't judge, I LOVE me some classic disaster film blockbuster type films and this one fits the bill. I agree it didn't have the same level of quality the original has bit it's really enjoyable to me none the less.

Titanic took 2 hours and 40 minutes to sink .... Poseidon only minutes , one rogue wave hit her and cupsized her immediatly ... Immediate death for a lot of people! '' The Poseidon adventure '' a film from 1972 is pedicessor of that remake . And the role of the captain was in the acting of my beloved Leslie Nielsen ! And i believe the movie based on a book written by Paul Gallico .

Yeah: I also echo those who recommend watching the original movie too... This movie's your typical summer blockbuster of our day, but for the original they didn't have CGI back then, which makes it all so much more spectacular. And if you want to have a themed month, maybe "The Towering Inferno" and "Earthquake" too. (PS: assuming you or your viewers don't read the book.. ...SPOILERS! Just in case!... ... ... ...The book is a lot darker; not even kids survive! Something I wish movie-makers should remember: Hollywood almost always give kids (and dogs) a happy ending. Life's not like that. :(

Love Towering Inferno... so many great names. It's full of drama. Is Earthquake with: charleston Heston from 1974? Love that version.... is also kind of sad.

To see incredible child actors in "Train to Busan" or "Whale Rider"...and then watch that annoying screeching boy in this film. I was waiting for the wave to take him. LOL

The reason why the Poseidon is based off the queen mary 2 is cuz the original film was supposed too be about when the queen mayr 1 encountered a rogue wave and it makes sense for a modern version too be based off of the more modern version of the ship

I agree that the 1972 Poseidon Adventure is a must watch. I had no relationship to these characters. This version seemed to be all action no drama.

Rogue waves are real and do take down smaller ships rarely, but I don’t think it’s very likely they could capsize a cruise ship like in this movie. It would take a massive rogue wave.

Oh my god, I haven't even watched the reaction yet but IM SO EXCITED! Highly recommend the Poseidon Adventure (its on Disney+ but I'm sure you could find it easily!) as the original is amazing. I actually saw Poseidon in cinemas at nine or ten and had to leave the theatre, I got so scared! Now its one of my favourite disaster movies! I'd love to recommend A Night To Remember which is another Titanic movie but from the 50s and is absolutely brilliant, as well as the movie Ghost Ship. People have a lot to say about Ghost Ship but I think its fantastic and NOTHING can beat the opening!

This movie and the original version were based off of the real life ship RMS Queen Mary. The ship was known for being very unstable in rough seas and was hit by a rogue wave. If the ship had rolled only a few degrees more then it did it would have capsized and many people would have died.

Hey lovely Tim, how great you reacting to this film. It a remake of the 1972 film The Poseidon Adventure which I highly recommend you watch as well as it 10 times better and one of the first movies made of the classic 70s disaster films. Rogue waves have recently been proven and photographed on satellite pics over flys of the middle of the oceans. They can be up to 200ft high supposedly and extremely rare 👍

There are 2 other movies of this genre, both called, “Poseidon Adventure.” One from 1976 that people know, and a 2 part movie from 2005 that not a lot of people have seen, or know about. Both of those movies are, in my opinion, way better than this most popular one.

The movie Deep Rising is like a way crazier version of Titanic but more adult and gory and it was released at the exact same time so most people overlooked it.

I'm not going to lie, my buddy's in high school and I went to see this movie in theaters and thought it was so dumb and the rest of the audience must've thought the same thing because when we started heckling and making fun of the movie pretty much everyone else in the theater joined in and started making fun of the movie as well. Lol
