note, item magnet doesn't actually increase the chance of muk holding an item, it only increases the chance of getting an item after the battle, it's main use is pickup farming

Here is better tip. Get a 37 level frisk mon with hypnosis and give it smoke ball. Then get some dive ball from Mossdeep City. If frisk activates use hypnosis on the Muk. Now use a Dive ball, it has 89% chance of catching the Muk. Now if you are worried of Muk using fling, a level 38 Muk doesn’t have fling.
Tried it. Spent around 100k for decent Duskull and TMs. Spent over 50k for repels and got 1 orb and 2 nuggets in an hour. It takes 2-3 repels to encounter Muk, and 10-15 Muks to get a nugget. Around 25 Muks to get a Toxic orb. Not a money making method, unless u just want to get toxic orb.
I'll definitely give it a try when hunting the legendary birds. Couple of things though: You don't need speed EVs. Ghost types can always run away from wild battles and a high level dusknoir has better speed than the wild muks so it doesn't need ev investment. Item magnet charm only affects items picked up after the battle, not held items. Still a good method though and worth a try.
Came back to this video to learn the method and try it for myself. One thing to note is that its probably better to put the evs into HP instead of Special Defense because Dusknoir already has high base special defense but extreamly low base HP
Tried this method out. Going from first toxic orb to my second one cost me more in repels that the profit selling one so I probably got real unlucky with the spawn rate. However the repel ran out once and I got my first legendary bird while doing this so can't complain lol. Great content again keep it up!
Well I misunderstood the video, this is more of a toxic orb faming method for someone that needs a toxic orb and not a money making method. It could be but depends on RNG. Sorry Youngcabbage for the misunderstanding and thanks for your gift in the mail!
So how does the money per hour stack up vs other typical money making strats? And how much do Item Magnet charms impact the results? Is this more of a 'i want to shiny hunt Muk and also make money while I do it' sort of strat? Regardless this was another very well put together video
This is not a viable method to make money. Using a lv37 Dusknoir as suggested in the video gets you a single Muk on average every 5 max repels. It's rare for them to be holding anything and they can also hold nuggets so the odds are pretty tiny. You might still make a profit but it's nowhere remotely close to being worth your time compared to other farming methods.
Nowhere in the video does this claim to be a money making method. This is simply a method to farm toxic orbs for personal use quicker! Sorry for the confusion!
Was checking it with my own Dusknoir and only 60 Speed is needed to outspeed the fastest Muk (Lv 38 with 31 IV in Speed and a +Speed nature). Ghost Pokemon can always escape encounters (unless locked by a move or ability). Latest 4 moves learned by level are known by the Pokemon, in this case a Lv 38 Muk will know Sludge Wave, Screech, Sludge Bomb and Toxic. (Will have to test and check this). Going to keep doing it for a good while since I'm also hunting Moltres :P
If you Repel trick for the Muks, you cannot find the Legendary Birds in the process (they specified that Repel tricking won't work for them). Other than that, nice guide 👍
I was told that because the muk is still an encounter, the legendary birds can replace that due to it being outdoors. They are referring to repel tricking FOR the legendary birds. That would be bringing a level 35 pokemon to route 1 where you will get no encounters. The birds need an encounter to replace so this method would still allow you to find them. Are we assuming water encounters are the same rate as inside the power plant? Just bc the animation is faster doesn't mean it accomplishes more in little time
The water in Celedon city has a higher encounter chance. Moving faster means stepping on more tiles faster which means more encounters. Hope that makes sense
Hear me out, use a frisk pokemon with false swipe and just throw a ball at the muks with the held item 😁✌️ or skip false swipe entirely with timer balls, I just like to play it safe and QUICK
The problem is the amount of time you waste hitting every single muk. Where this strat is better is you have frisk so you only attack the muks with items saving you time

Yes, that is correct, Item Magnet Charm only boosts the chance to find an item after battles. Both Pickup and regular Trainer Pickup are affected, and I assume Elemental Orbs/Honey Gather are also there :)
This works great man. Only problem for me is that I’ve used 68 Super Repels, 70 Repels and 16 Max Repels and only have found 1x Toxic Orb. I’ll try using an Item Magnet Charm tonight and see if it makes a difference. My luck is bad in this game though…

is it have to be a level 37 dusknoir or is it level 37 or higher dusknoir? reson being is i have a level 85 dusknoir with frisk and theif i'm using for farming amulet coin. i tried the pokemon mansion but got nothing (i ether had sluge or nugget). can i use a weavile with pickpoket? i have a level 88 weavile with pickpoket and move thief?
You need a level 37 for the repel trick to work. It needs to be lower than 38 (muks level) but higher than the other spawns. Pickpocket won’t work because you need to get hit my a physical move. Muk only has special attacks
wouldnt it be the same results using a weezing with thief compared to a duskno at the same location in celadon? Overall seems the same "Strat" but just at celadon and not the mansion
As explained in the video, leading with frisk makes it more efficient than weezing. Also, your character moves faster on the water than they do running in the mansion. Hope this helps
@@YoungCabbage i guess from seeing the frisk proc from the beginning. But having to imprison then skill swap, then finally trick to get an item doesnt seem as efficient as just clicking thief and then run away. Even at the celadon water spot.
@@VelvetLlama95 it is much more efficient for a few reasons. 1. You don’t get reactive gas ability activation at the beginning of every battle. 2. You only imprison trick the muks with items (Muks rarely hold items) so you aren’t just attacking every muk you see. 3. Because you don’t attack every muk your dusknoir lives longer than a weezing would getting hit every single turn.

It’s mainly meant as a way to farm the item quicker. That’s all. There will always be the “faster more efficient” method someone comes up with however this was just a project we worked on to make the item more accessible. Let me know if you have any other questions
Rampardos is one I tested and is a good idea. The only problem is not many muks hold items so you’d be wasting time attacking muks that don’t have items. With frisk, you save that time by only attacking the ones with items. Hope this helps!
Total waste of money and ill explain why after 6 HOURS of testing it WITHOUT GETTING ANY TOXIC ORB: frisk banette is less cheaper, Muk doesnt even have fling so fling+imprison is useless, the cost of the repels is GIGANTIC bc you’ll most of the times wait 3-4 WHOLE repels before encountering a single Muk, and even if the Frisk found an item it is 99% of the time a freaking black sludge or a troll nugget, I absolutely not recommand this method, just buy one from the CEG : it is ~60-70k and you’ll not waste any absurd amount of money and time the ONE factor that changes it all : if you’re INSANELY lucky.
Okay, i just understood why I'd need a repel, but the problem is i bought a lvl 30 duskull, and while eve training it turned to lvl 53, so any advice on this matter? Or should i just go through all the random encounters?
@@YoungCabbage forgive me I've just spent so much on repels and I see the Orb sells for $70k. Wish I had just done that. I guess it was my mistake thinking this would save money
