After diving into Resolve, I have zero desire to ever go back to Premiere, unless I’m forced to for work reasons, especially after the last year or so, it’s almost unusable, and ridiculously slows down my workflow. I’ve been super happy with resolve, and how powerful it is.
@@YoungBlaze Nice! It’s pretty intuitive and easy to pick up. They even have built in keyboard shortcuts options that mimic other NLEs, so the switch was pretty organic for me.
About the scroll wheel thing, if you put your mouse cursor on the time frame under the video playback it and use the wheel it will actually work as before (move frame by frame)
The same old story from Adobe. They roll out useless "features", and leave the buggy-ass code intact. The new features blow up foundational functionality that editors rely on, which cuts into our already razor-thin bottom line. It just dawned on me though that Adobe probably sees human editors as a short-lived market sector anyway, whose demise will only be hastened by Adobe's own AI efforts. So why should they care about what we say? We're just meat sacks whose subscription fees are funding their AI research until we're no longer relevant. I don't have a solution to that quandary, just an observation.
Stop editing on a laptop. That will fix half the issues people are discussing in the comments. A decent desktop with an Intel CPU and windows 11 will basically eliminate performance and timeline issues. It’s also cheaper than any laptop.
So essentially pirating the product and using an outdated version that is not accessible from the suscription gives you a better experience than the regular customers. That's just sad.
Yes! You know for sure the pirated version is stable. I pay for monthly updates but only use the version that is also available pirated as it's the most stable one. Same goes for Illustrator and Photoshop. I think most of the subscribers are staying with Adobe due to commodity but that's going to change soon
Its not just bugs. Its basic things like using warp stabilizer and speedramps and speedramps and any position effects, masking etc. that bring the stress level to over 9000. And the things just get more complicated with nesting files - which doesnt always prove to work and often introduces black screens and other bugs. Also, for me one of the most frustrating things - why cant we duplicate or raneme (A) nested clip to (B) so we could change the nested clip without f***** up all other (A) nested clips in the timeline. Because nesting in premiere is obviously so important, it should work FLAWLESSLY
I wanted to thumbsup this a thousand times. The nesting thing is so stupid. Among other things if you want to use the nested clip somewhere else in the timeline, it comes in as the individual clips. Adobe knows that the editor is trying to stabilize the footage, it should just figure out how to make it happen automatically, not throw an erro. Thumbs Up a Thousand
my god yesssssss duplicating to nest B would be a game changer!!!! also sending projects to project manager to make reference files for clients. almost every time I need to double check all nests to see if the contents were saved correctly. Half the time i need to cross reference to orriginal saved project and copy paste missing layers
The problem with Premiere Pro is not these little bugs, but the overall performance, and the reason is simply that the software is based on code that is over 10 years old and has only been briefly optimized over the years. Adobe MUST stop updating for 1 or 2 years to COMPLETELY review the Premiere Pro code. I prefer that to another cool AI addition on an unusable software...
I wish I could use Resolve instead. Idk why, but my computer runs Resolve so much worse than Premiere. I've tried proxies and everything, but nothing changes.
@@PremiereBasics I use both as well, and everytime I use premiere im thankful i made the switch, i use premiere reluctantly when I have a graphics heavy project, having the sent to Aftereffects feature for a clip is just handy, cant wait till davinci can do it. Not holding my breath...
@@PremiereBasics nah, it produces more emissions than NFTs and there are various companies/people suing for copyright (including the US suing Adobe themselves 💀) so sooner or later that whole thing will crumble. One way or another
I still don't understand that you are still so faithful to Premiere pro. Just jump over to Davinci. I understand that you have built the channel around premiere pro. But Adobe is losing ground and many are switching to other programs. So the audience will only get smaller and smaller regarding Premiere pro. You are skilled and you can create a large audience with other programs. Like DaVinci Resolve.
I love premiere but eventually tried davinci for a couple projects, slowly but surely it got easier. Came back to premiere after updating it, was so frustrated that they changed the basics of how masking or moving through the timeline used to work. It felt buggy, slower and just bad. Felt sad because I always vouched for premiere but now that I have used davinci I understand why people are switching. Davinci is just really well optimized specially for mac users. It does crash but it is really rare and it usually backups your projects flawlessly, and you know what? I just use the free version! Haven't paid a dime yet!
When that happens, dont export to mp4 or something like that export to Prores instead. There should be less errors and even if it fails, you can still use the already rendered section of the file unlike mp4.
one bug that has not been fixed for years now is recording voice over to the timeline among many others. I'm seriously thinking of switching to davinci. I'm getting the impression that adobe is starting not to care about retaining its long standing customers.
Absolutely agree! Thats why ive finally switched to DRV - and NEVER regretted a second. Its hard a little to change the habits, but its done in 2-3 days and you understand that this is such an AWESOME software
@@IPSUMstudio1 in some builds premiere pro doesnt allow you to record voice over directly to the timeline. You either have to revert back to an older version of premiere pro or open up a seperate project. Its a bug thats has not been fixed for years. Since i make tutorials its very frustrating having to re record in adobe audition. etc also the dynamic link between all adobe softwares is completely broken.
I have tried Davinci and like it, no more frequent crashes like Adobe. Will not go back to Premiere until they fixed it. Anyway, I love Davinci's interface, shortcuts and transitions. Maybe you will like it too.
Bugs 1. When you select text tool and type something like q or w it does not write it will use it as command 2. Premier pro automatically crash without any thing happened 3. Render speed just sucks We have i9 13th gen rtx 4090 with 128gb ram And it renders our video in 2 min With 5-6 media encoder crash And 8-10 windows crash 4. the circle effect can't even playable even after proxy
"its painful to see it going downhill". So true. Ive had your problems and some of mine. PPro gets worse with each update. Timeline track sizes and colors. Constantly resetting workspace and on and on and on. Audio drop outs but cursor keeps playing. And the annual cost? Im currently learning Resolve.
I get why people don't want to switch. I am on DaVinci and I really like it. The only problem is that my editing experience gets wrecked from the bad playback. Like it is so aggressively lagging on a system with a 12th gen i7, rtx3070ti and 96 GB of ram. I tried everything under the sun but can't make it run smooth. It is that atrocious. Might actually have to change to premiere or another editor.
I switched to davinci last year and never looked back, its just a more stable platform and the workflows are organised and clean. I also use their Speed Editor and Mini Colour panel which really make you work faster. One point on the proxy icon, these are important in some cases where the camera creates the proxy. I used to shoot in C4K which is slightly wider than 4K but the proxy was recorded in 16:9 so it was essential to see the icon and understand if the framing is correct.
Premiere has cost me so much time and money! The monthly cost paired with the time lost in crashes and having to render soooooo much just to see a simple part of a simple video let alone try to to do anything cool. I built what I thought was a super computer to take adobe on and well Computer=0 Adobe= 1000, I don't get it ? Why must I feel sooo much frustration doing something I love? Like this used to be fun to me but adobe makes me want to break sh**. DO BETTER ADOBE- I HAVE GAVE YOU SOOO MUCH MONEY FOR YEARS AND ITS ABOUT TO STOP!!!!!!
My company has stopped using adobe because we can't trust our workflow with this bugs and pay a monthly subscription for this. Adobe lost 17 editing subscription from us alone last week. its just too painful to see unstable overly priced editing software becoming an liability for a a production company. We need adobe to be an asset. Good Bye forever Adobe
Adobe, Can you please fix premiere pro instead of just adding AI features rather than building a stable program! It’s painful to see how masking or color grading runs smoothly in davinci resolve while premiere manages to break the beefiest computers out there, when just trying to do any of these essential tasks!!!! If it wasn’t for after effects I would have switched long ago.
Premiere is dead, there is nothing Adobe can do against it. Everybody is switching, the price is killer, feature get better and better, the performance is awesome. Blackmagic killt it
@@csselement me, too. 3:22 I use 24.4.1 and timeline zoom is totally normal - i use "alt" + mousewheele and I zoom in where my mouse cursor/pointer is. Totally fine and I can't remember it was diffrent at any time...
The moment all my plugins can be transfered to blender or Davinci, as well as after effects stuff. I will be leaving adobe behind. Not only cause I am against the use of AI like they want to, since let's be real.... it won't look good. I don't trust Adobe with the tech right now. The other reasons is a lot of old stuff and effects are being removed, breaking down or replaced with watered down versions. Anyone remember Legacy titles? I do. Since when they were titles they were amazing, abit clunky, but amazing. I didn't mind the pop up window, I didn't mind the making another asset and sure... Essential graphics is faster into intergration, but isn't as advanced as titles. It was litterly a miniture photoshop for text and basic shapes. But essentially graphics lacks over half of these effects, with each update slowly getting closer and closer to the actual thing. Also the bar thing is a BUG?! I had this in all my versions of adobe where it randomly jumps around the place....I just accepted it as a weird quirk to avoid. But uuuuh wow... Anyway I think Adobe can still recover from this. Fix the bugs, less focus on AI and ooh yea... sell versions of premiere again without a subscription and lock AI tools behind subscriptions and I will be a happy camper. (Though you can subscribe to the software still with AI, just that adobe firefly will be disabled if you just buy this years version of premiere)
You guys should just make a Resolve channel considering how many times you have click baited Resolve users into fighting with pp in the comments at this point 🤣🤣.
@@PremiereBasics as if they don't see anything in the first place, they don't care lmao, they got your money and they know people like you will keep giving your money to them even if they kick you in your nuts.
You can basically do everything in the free version and then if you really want to switch to the studio version it’s only a one time payment. I have the Creative Cloud subscription but prefer DaVinci Resolve over Premiere.
Because you are not a professional video editor you will never understand why specific proxy waterwarks are used. you can assign shortcuts for your scrolls if you have any decent programmable mouse as well, same thing for zoom in then back to fit. BOOM PROB SOLVED, another bad video
can i ask why are you maing these videos to make premir look bad, i am proffiecnt in avid resolve and final cut and let me tell u man they all have downfalls. but here you just are not creative enough to find a solution so you decide to make videos saying that premiere is not good. instead you should make videos of showing how to resolve these this afterall is a premiere channel right?
As a long-time PR user, I am increasingly disappointed with PR. The color change update on the timeline almost drove me crazy because it hurt my eyes. I immediately had to revert back to the old version, but luckily I learned about DR and realized that DR is much better than PR. On DR, I can zoom in, zoom out, rotate, crop, flip quickly and accurately, which makes my project much faster. While in PR, that has not been updated for years. In PR, I hate that every time I crop, I have to add effects and use a few more steps. But DR has a major drawback with keyframes, it is convenient but not accurate when I use curves. Currently, I am using DR for editing because it is more comfortable than Premiere. I hope PR will soon update to keep up with DR, I hope Adobe will add crop, default camera shake in their PR application.
I have encoutnered a bug of some sort where it exports certain clips with "click to anaylse" blue ribbon for the warp stabiliser. On timeline inside premiere it doesn't show this ribbon, before exporting doesn't prompt you with warnings that there are clips that needs analysing, but on export it's there on multiple clips throughout the edit. It's getting embarrassing at this stage to use premiere for professional work.
I'm on PC PPro 24.5 and when I Alt+scroll in the timeline, Premiere zooms in where my mouse cursor is located, not where the Playhead is, which is fine by me, I usually use the keyboard shortcuts for zooming, so I rarely use the scroll wheel anyway
The biggest hang up I have had with Resolve is Fusion. It’s Byzantine and no matter how many tutorials I watch on it, I can’t seem to grasp it. Titles and graphics in Resolve still need work. Color grading in Resolve is so superior and it’s nice to have all your tools (audio, FX and export) at the ready instead of launching a second app.
I have been experiencing BSOD (Critical_process_died) when ever I try to export, be it premiere pro or media encoder, same issue. I am a fill time video editor and it has caused me severe mental stress and monetary damage cuz I'm not able finish videos on time (thus editing less video = less money). I have tried and tested every component and nothing comes out of it. After watching this video I'll roll back to 24.3 hoping that its even marginally better. If you can include the content of this comment in your next video in regards to updates to bring it to adobes attention please do.
Since 24.4 I can't scroll and move clips with it playing. I have to stop playback to do ANYTHING. try aligning audio when you can't shift the damn clip with it playing.
Yeah, they keep giving us thing we didn't ask for, and not fixing or adding things that are necessary. I tried CapCut, and although the software feels more for beginners, they have some really usefull features, like removing background, isolating voices, a really amazing voice enhance, and more. Wish they would straight up copy that... And also the transitions 😂
I honestly suffered from these problems soo much that i will need to rewatch this video when the time comes, as a fellow content creator (although much smaller at 29k subs) i had to make the switch time and time again from davinci to resolve again and again, making my, already long enough, time between videos even bigger. Its sad honestly, most youtubers just want stability and if an editing program company cant wait a few more weeks to check all the bugs before launching their product, youtubers will naturally leave that program for something else.
Yeah I did the update and I think it's about 20% harder to edit on the platform have trouble with the scroll wheel on the mouse I keep zooming into the image and then have to put fit to screen and I think they took a step backwards.☕️🇺🇸
I had the same problem of Premiere not exporting (a less than 2 minute video) earlier this week. I tried all the usual "tricks" to get it to export (copy to new sequence, clear media cache, send sequence to Media Encoder, etc.), finally came down to me having to make both the render preview in the project settings AND the render in export settings set to software instead of hardware. Added an extra 45 minutes of render time, but finally got it.
Nobody is going to try their new AI features unless you fix your catastrophic bugs and newly introduced usability problems. I have had to go back to 24.3 and even it is not that stable. It actually crashed my Mac which is really hard to do and it corrupt my preset file in the process. I spent 2 hours with Adobe Support trying to address this. unreal. These instability issues always seem to happen when you are at the end of the project so that you miss your deadline. It is really quite frustrating. I won't be moving to 24.5 any time soon. If they want people to use THEIR AI enhancements and get feedback they are going to have to entice people to get to these releases. At the end of day we have to put out content. thank you for your video.
I have never came across the problem of a company making updates which worsens the creative experience like Adobe has in the last few years. Will only make Da Vinci king once indie AI tools are implemented to rival current Premiere Pro features.
I rolled back to 24.3 version because of ONE reason : i lost the green fx square colored when you add an effect, so i can see immediately if i put an effect on an object. Do you know if it's possible to have this feature back when you use the new project panel appearance or is there an alternative to this feature ? I'm so annoyed to have to click on every item to see if i applied the effects i want. Thanks !
bro ive started having issues with playback - without using proxies ofc - after 24.5 update wich i shouldnt when working in 1080 only. I wasnt having any stutter or freezing issues until last update. This is ridicilous. Now i gotta try older versions.
You're better off switching to and learning DaVinci Resolve now instead of investing your time into a product that Adobe will abandon at some point in the future. Remember that Adobe has a strong history of product abandonment. Adobe has abandoned 42 products in its history like Flash, Fireworks, Freehand, PageMaker, Contribute, Director, Muse, Adobe XD, just to name a few.
One week ago my premiere keep crashing every hour or so, i had my windows re-install + BIOS updated Ah boom no more bugs, premiere is strong and stable as hell with the last update. Last gen intel CPU (mine is i9 14900kf) seems to be the problem but now it's patched ❤
Yes I have had a similar issue with premier lately. I also have some problems with my new Intel i9 build it seems like companies make crap products now and charge you more for it
I’ve been doing a lot of bulk exports for ads recently and that’s crash 95 percent of the time so I just export hundreds of timelines one. At. A. Time.
Ever since i got the new updates Premier got worse! a lot of bugs, problems with play backs, problems with exports, problems with audio play backs, and my work flow became slow because it's slower and not able to keep up!!! before the update it was smooth and way less bugs. (my pc is not slow at all 12900k - 4080 - 64 DDR5)
Do you guys also have the problem with audio...its not playing audio in some channels. I SEE that its working, i just dont hear it. And when exported its just working. How can I edit like that?
Davinci Resolve ALL 👏🏼 THE 👏🏼 WAY 👏🏼. Happy I switched to Resolve back in version 15 and haven’t looked back. Not to mention the fact I’m not wasting a boatload of money on a product that steals my IP.
Adobe - NEW BUG in 24.4 and 24.5.. MAC ... after opening Timeline - it takes hours until we can edit again - after closing and re-opening a normal timeline - in 24.3 and below it works - never had issues - MAC M1 MAX OS 12.3.1
"Only" annoying bug I get: If i type space or any other key with an other meaning while writing in a textfield, it will be triggerd. Just like youtube would play the video above, when I hit "space", like I did around 30 times in this text. To fix the bug I always have to select the textfield on the left side under effects. If I simpyl click into the textfield like in the old days and start writing, the bug is happening...
Premiere has had an issue with MXF files for YEARS. It's still happening and it's infuriating. There are posts about it all over the forums. With the new update they claimed to fix it, but it's actually worse. It's a joke. I have figured out a fix though...I'm learning Resolve right now, I'll be switching within the next month or so.
Adobe is just software. REsolve is part of an economy of products. On top of that the subscription model and buggy software, being layered based with no nodes and no compositing option like Fusion... adobe at this stage should compete with cap cut and other beginner NLEs rather than trying to compete with Resolve.
3:42 i actually like to use step forward and step backwards on 1 and 2 on 60fps gameplay, or whatever bind :D it's rlly helpful for me when manual tracking position and then keyframing scale separately on adj layer ontop lol, but i am using a outdated version so there's also that
They should really get their codec-shit done in the first place. Once I edited a project with several YT-Videos in it. Exporting this one (no matter if in Premiere or Media Encoder) resulted in some of the Audio of the Clips had stutter, some others were played back in a higher speed. Sometimes that occured while exporting with CBR, sometimes with VBR. Sure I know you can avoid that by first encoding all of the source material to one and the same format/bitrate, but come on...such an expensive software should really be able to deal with something like that without any workarounds.
Using adobe since 97, yes, I’ve edited 3 feature films and countless commercials yet I’ve canceled my subscription at last. From next month on, I’ll be using resolve only. Goodbye premiere. I don’t care about your AI, your subscription price sucks and you are not worth it.
that zoom really annoing also in Lumetri color panel color wheel and match , delay every time i use , but about crash in export... i never had . i use threadripper 3970x + rtx3070
I have been facing an issue where every project says goes out of memory even after assigning 29GB of memory to premiere, in task manager only 50-60% memory is occupied so it’s an issue with premiere, and I tried literally everything to fix it but nothing works
One of the bugs that irritates me the most is when I export while using duel monitors either within premiere or media encoder premiere doesn't return to the dual monitor workspace I have saved it defaults to only one monitor. Some times it works but I'd say 85% of the time it does not. My workaround used to be to have duplicate workspaces saved so after each export I needed to select a different workspace to return back to dual monitors. Now I have a separate single monitor hook export workspace that extends the entire height of my monitor enabling me to see all my hooks and quickly send to ME. If I was only exporting one video at a time in a project this wouldn't bother me but everyday I'm exporting multiple versions of the same video with say 10 or so different hooks for my clients to test. As you can imagine constantly switching workspaces just to send all the different hook variations to media encoder gets very tedious and time consuming. Please please please adobe fix this bug. I do love all the new bells and whistles and see you are trying hard to be a leading force but fixing little bugs like this would help a lot and save so much time for us editors using your software for everyday work.
WHY DO KEEP PUTING UP WITH THIS SHIT. I STARTED EDITING 1 YEAR AGO. NEVER TOUCHED Pr MORE THAN ONCE. Ae is good but wht need any thing else if u got resolve
The bug I found was being on the first from of a clip and trying to track a mask. It never works. However, you can copy the mask, delete it, reapply it by pasting the mask back on, move forward one frame, track again and then it will work perfect every single time ❤
The most annoying bug is when you drag and drop anything into the project and the folder (When viewed as thumbnails) scrolls up or down automatically non-stop. I have to reopen the project to solve this everytime.
3:22 I use 24.4.1 and timeline zoom is totally normal - i use "alt" + mousewheele and I zoom in where my mouse cursor/pointer is. Totally fine and I can't remember it was diffrent at any time...
I swear, it seems that the whole RU-vid video editor community is about complaining about Adobe Premiere. I haven't run into those issues. And maybe it's just because my projects are smaller than yours, or maybe it's an OS thing. But still, it's almost like everyone gas decided that it's cool to hate Adobe, and will find flaws that may or may not actually be there
