Got mine last night and unboxed it.. such a cool machine and I think the best value for the presale price that New Wave has had..ordered ot in 1/20/2023 and was well worth the wait
I just received the New Wave Zoltar last night. I placed it on a shelf next to my TV in the living room to surprise my family by putting it on IR (infrared mode). So when they walk by he will talk to them. I just realized I can activate it with my Comcast remote control. I went to turn up the volume on the tv and it kept activating Zoltar’s attract mode.
That would be cool, I have a replica doll of laughing Sal and her original audio laugh on CD that Playland not on the beach had made and it’s cool but a automated one would be awesome!
@@MarquisDeSang Playland not at the beach has closed but their website is open so maybe try to contact them? If you search on google “laughing Sal replica doll” it shows up as the second link to their website which shows a picture of the doll and a dedicated page to it. The doll run was limited to 250 units and it was done quite awhile ago.
I've just ordered mine! I have a full size one too, along with all the other Zoltar merchandise that I've ma aged to find over the years. Just love Zoltar❤
I really like this. I’m based in the UK and we definitely have Zoltar’s everywhere. I just love the amount of detail put into this from the figure to the cabinet itself and plus the official phrases as well. One thing I do specifically like is the movement of the head and mouth I know I like how it’s not in sync gives it a proper old vintage automaton feel to it.
Dude, I just got mine Saturday, I’m watching this video and always, it’s fantastic👏. As I’m watching I happen to look down , as I needed to adjust my glasses I noticed I’m wearing a Gem Spa T-Shirt. Gem Spa was the last place In NY that had a working Zoltar cabinet that I played. 🤯
Awesome! I've still got a few of my Zoltar fortune tickets floating around somewhere from my last visit to see Zoltar years ago. Hopefully I can run across another Zoltar in the wild in the future
That one was just a prop made for that movie, this one is based off a real machine. I'm sure it was much easier for New Wave Toys to license this version rather than the movie prop version, which is likely why they went this route.
Mine was delivered last week, absolutely blown away by it. Totally agree with you that this is one of their best releases (so far 😁). I know they had plenty of issues during development so it's great to see the patience rewarded for those that pre-ordered. It's so different and sits perfectly with the other NWT cabs in my collection.
@@Rob.Coleman it’s an amazing work of art and I’m sure was a bit of a technical nightmare for them to get right and produce on a large scale. But I’m so happy they took their time and got all the little details right!
I got mine on Thursday and it definitely was worth the wait. Even when they were sending out emails of the little issues they were having and if you wanted a refund for not being able to wait. So glad I waited for mine!!
I am hoping now that they seen what a great job they did with this version that Characters Unlimited let’s them recreate the version as seen in the movie Big as well. I am so happy with my preorder though of this machine, great review. My only small complaints with the machine is that the order of fortunes resets to the beginning of the cycle every time you switch it off and on (maybe the full size version does the same? 🤷♂️) and that the cabinet is made of plastic instead of wood like their other Replicades and the original machine.
@@slitherninja781 characters unlimited isn’t who owns the license for the one seen in the movie BIG. That was a one off movie prop made specifically for that film. New Wave Toys first tried to get the license to make one based on the movie but the licensor denied them. So the back up was to make this characters unlimited version instead.
@@cooltoy Ahh ok I figured they owned the license because they sell a full size replica ($12k) of the one featured in the movie on their website sans it’s missing the coin in mouth feature….my mistake they must have licensed the rights to make that and sale it from the license holder of that I assume then?
First I've heard about this. Really cool! Would be great if the price hadn't nearly doubled. Clicked to check current pricing and realized it's now $150 + shipping. May still order one but seems like a hefty punishment for not even knowing about the pre-order.
@@low_re8094 follow new wave toys on social media so you don’t miss out next time they do early bird preorder pricing on the next cool machine they release
If the eyes lit up red it would be an instabuy for me, but as is I’m mulling it over. They cranked up the price a lot to $150. I only expect absolute perfection lol!
I received mine last night as well, sadly the free play button does not work on mine but the coin fed option still does. I don't know if I should return for another or attempt getting in back to see if its some small fixable issue. I've got about all their products and only ever had to return 1 other back in a day (a dragon's lair) that had no sound.
I'd say it's worth reaching out to the New Wave Toys customer service people. They have a great reputation for taking care of their customers and making sure everything gets squared away.
@@rolfathan as I mentioned in the video, the dust particles are going to be unavoidable since there is real cloth fabric inside mixed with moving parts.
It looks cool / but it looks like the eyes don’t light up red / awhile back i seen the prototype version / that prototype version look more like the old arcade / i wish they would have made the old version of it too / hopefully maybe later in the future they will make it / and take it a couple of steps further / because a want that version also / and also add the light up red eyes
The eyes aren't supposed to light up red, the Zoltar machine this is based off didn't have that features. The Zoltar machine from the movie BIG and this machine are two separate things entirely, they simply share the same name.
Very cool! I hope in the future they will get the BIG license and make a replica of that one. Seems like a missed opportunity but maybe later they will do one if people say they want that one instead, I know I would. Thanks for the share!
@@cooltoy Thanks for the response. Interesting, I would think studios want to make money off their movies. I’m sure there were other reasons in addition to. This is nice though.
a mini working replica of the one from Big with light up red eyes, the opening mouth, the breathing sound effect, and The Zoltar's theme music, yes, but this one no.
@@TheMonster83 the machine from the movie big is my only real life experience for this machine I never recall seeing one around my area ever and I’m 39yr who went to arcades frequently most of my life. If they do a second release of this specifically coping the Big version I would be way more into it.
@@CBsays_ 79.99 was the initial preorder price when the product was first announced. If you missed out on that early bird pricing you have to pay the higher price. That’s how it’s always been with New Wave Toys product releases and that’s why it’s always best to preorder early
Soooo sad I missed this for preorder. I don't think I'll pay what they want full price but would have done the 79$. I love my New Wave Dragons Lair, and this looks awesome! Very cool.
@@neekzz I guess you missed the part where I explained the preorder pricing that happened when it was first announced. Also the title of the video clearly says “was less than $100”
Nothing miss leading in the title at all, it clearly says "WAS" in the title, meaning past tense, it literally could not be any more plain. I get that you're bummed that the price went up but there is no need to directing that frustration my way.
it's not supposed to be screen accurate to the one seen in the movie BIG. This is accurate to a different Zoltar fortune telling machine that shares the same name.
