I have always enjoyed This Old House! Best show ever! I sealed my attic too. Did the Blower Door Test. I am not at Net Zero but did a lot for my house. So cool you are trying to get there.
Great to see this getting some exposure...would love to know how this new technology has an effect on the enviorment, and what the total wasted product pushed out of the building is. How fire resistant is it? what effects does water have on it once its set?
The technology has been around for a while now. At least since 2012, but maybe a bit longer. The Aeroseal product itself is a organic polymer, and shares quite a bit chemically speaking to Elmers glue (I believe its also some form of PolyVinyl Acitate). So I suppose environmental effect is similar to Elmers, in any case it can break down in the environment. I dont know how much gets wasted vs applied though. I dont think humidity has an effect on Aeroseal, but I would expect direct and prolonged water contact would..
Hi Baxta -- Our X1 sealant is environmentally friendly, a third-party lab tested the sealant determining it has GreenGuard Gold certified and gives off Ultra-low VOCs. We are currently undergoing tests for a fire resistant certification and hope to receive the results soon. Water will not deteriorate or ruin the sealant after it is applied. excellent stuff, some quick questions, -does it affect the wall or ceiling finishes? -does the floor need to be removed? -up to what size holes does this process perform effectively? -if a hole is too large does it still indicate a leak?

what keeps spray sealant areobarrier from places you dont want it in existing house like windows and trim. If you tape off you may tape over a crack....temporarily and it wont get sealed. ....? Do you have to gut the inside of older house first?

Well I'll be a suckeggedmule if that don't beat all. I'm totally redoing our 120 year old house, torn down to studs, attic, crawlspace now, ready for insulation. Wanting to go with spray foam. I wonder if spray foam insulation seals up all the cracks? I'm thinking it does, but this stuff is different than anything I've ever heard of. What, spray foam now on that house?

How do I get in on this technology? Is this a “Franchise “? I live in a “Historical Home”, and crack and leaks are an ongoing thing! I would LOVE to have our home “AeroSealed” like this. I have seen this done with the HVAC ducting about 20 years ago. I SOO NEED this!
