His name is Kenneth Petrie 60 years old, and he plays in an English band called Mr Spankey and the Hipthrusters. Oh, by the way, he is a Catholic Priest.
I just turned 61 but think very young. This guy smokes me, but I'm sure anyone can attest, playing music keeps you young and gives you something to look forward to every day.
This guy is great and his energy is infectious! My hat's off to him. Let's not forget that Vai, Satriani and many of our guitar heroes are also well into their 60s.
The guy is old enough to live and hear the legends, practiced and skilled enough to form his own style from what he's heard, practiced and learned, that he's a Neil Peart of the guitar world. The man fkn KILLS it and makes other younger cocky shredders think twice!! What a pleasure to hear and watch and what a great band for backing up this OG guitar beast!
I really want to be like him in the future. So many people give up their hobbies because of „not having time for it anymore“. This man stayed dedicated for such a long time, you can clearly see that. You should never stop doing what makes you happy.
Ron Harding that’s great Brother! My wife bought me. Squire last year and said if I’d learn”Comfortably Numb” she would buy me a better guitar and amp. Well I worked on that for about nearly 4 months and got it down right. She went out and bought me a brand new Strat, a brand new Tele and a Fender Mustang3 amp! What a wonderful woman! Now I HAVE to play everyday! I’m lovin’ it though and have gotten way better as a result. Keep after it and enjoy it and you’ll be happier for it my friend. ❤️🙏🏻✌️🎸
Kenny Petrie of “Mr. Spankey and the Hipthrusters”…Braintree, Essex Co, England. And, no, he is not a Catholic priest. That's just an inside joke with the band.
Holy Shit!!! He is fuckin phenomenal!! He was having the time of his life. There's nothing better than seeing someone do something they love and they do it incredibly well!! Wow! Just Wow!!!!!
After I discovered this wonderful man yesterday, my boyfriend came home in the evening and I covered the tv with blankets. Then I turned on this video. While he was listening, I asked him to guess what musician was playing this. He said: maybe Traci Guns, or Bumblefoot (he’s a GnR fan 😄). I encourage you to do the same and see what names of famous musicians people will come up with. It was really fun. This man brightened up my day. This is music.
I'm a drummer and vocalist who is almost 60 and seeing this has reignited my desire to learn the guitar!! Is it too late?? what do you think?? I think I'm going out today and buying an Ibanez X and a Marshall amp and return to what I stopped to play drums in the 80's !! Man can this man play ; it sends shivers through me !GOD BLESS him!! Octavias
Sir it is NEVER too late. Go get that gear if you haven't yet and study your butt off and play play play everyday. Have fun above All else. Life is waaaaaaaaaay too short to not go out and do what you know will make you happy!! Please keep us all posted on your progress. I truly want to hear your progress periodically please!!!!!
The more And More I lose hope on myself , The more I come back and watch this video to remind myself "Age is Just a Number" and I can be the guitarist I always wanted to be one day!
Man this video deserve a million views!!! My God!! Awesome playing!! I truly enjoyed how he played the guitar! How he feels the music and the band, this video is a truly amazing diamond! I'm sorry for my English.
Hes younger than vai an EVH if he was still alive. I think the fact he is bold and the way he dresses makes him seem older than he is. But that obviously went in his favour right? Taking precisely nothing away from his playing . But if he had looked younger than people perceived him to be he wouldn't garner so much attention .... maybe
i would pay more to see him live then any current band happily what a legend you can see the passion in the playing from one guitar player to another rock on Kenneth wherever you may be
You rock man!.... Loved the technique and the energy he put into it. That's the spirit that everyone should put into his work no matter what you do... Great work.
I remember watched a couple of years ago. This IS AMAZING! This man IS PURE talent, he shreds with absolutely feeling and skill. You can feel he Really loves to play guitar (and he IS Been a long time doing that...)
@@jimch.9961 7 no. They just can't play. They do not stick to tempo. They mask lacking in attenuation and technique with over the top distortion and everything is done in post. Even metallica went this way with st. Anger. Rock is all about showmanship, craft and lil bit of flair. And what better way to dropsome panties than sweet instrumental solo? ;)
@@wiewiorpl there are many, and i mean many new bands that have insane technical players in them, but the older generations are a bunch of elitists that nullify anything new, because "they lack in x/y, so they must be bad". Open your goddamned ears and listen to beautiful music that was created by new-ish bands in the years 2007-2016. As for "everything is done in post", live performances are rarely different than what yu hear in the album.
@@jimch.9961 yeah i know why it was made this way. After Jason had enough of blocking his creative ideas he split, james went to rehab and all of them understood they were bunch of dicks for him for all the time he was in the band. James even mention it in the interview that jason stopped talking to them, just was wandering around ind headphones. They thought they will jam out next album so everybody input will be equal. They jammed, rearranged it in protools and sent for pressing. And that's why it sucks. They had no idea for this album. They were just afraid that somebody might leave too.
This man makes Mick Mars, Slash, Van Halen, Hendrix, Ray Vaughn, all the classics look as if they are just starting again! I love them all don’t get me wrong! But this guy has some CRAZY tapping abilities and Wammy skills!Rock on man!
This guy has probably been practicing all his life for more than 50 years or so. So of course he's gonna be alot better than most of the guitar legends who where only like 10 to 20 years into guitar playing in there primes or at the point of there deaths.
@@MCJosiah That's a really interesting point. At first I was like how could he be as good (or better as Logan said) than those famed guitarists but your explanation makes sense. I would never have thought of that point.
