There is one simple 2-note shape on the fretboard that is the basis of almost any chord.
Small triads, open chords, barre chords, dom7 chords, maj7... so much is made out of this one little shape...
And I can't believe that I never saw that before!
It's so obvious now that I see it. It's an amazing discovery.
So today, I'm going to share with you A TON of chord shapes that you can build out of that simple 2-note pattern, and I'm going to explain why it works and why we can see it in almost every chord.
Whether you are a beginner or a more experienced guitarist, seeing this might change the way you look at chords!

This is pretty cool... I hung in there after the first minute, overcame my old grizzled stubbornness and really like the last parts of this. Nice job - I'm going to apply this to some modes, legato, tapping etc

I've been fascinated for a long time with the fact that the C and D chords are two shapes of a single chord, which can move up and down the neck. (The C shape moved up two frets is a D and the two open notes in a C chord include the D shape down two frets)

Exactly the same thing for G and A open chords. Because E, A & D are same shapes (and intervals R-5-R-3). it's exactly the same chord shape, one string below. G & C are also the same shapes (intervals R-3-5-R). But only because of the interval of a major 3rd between strings G (3) and string B (2), instead of an interval of 4th between the other guitar strings, the shapes of these open chords seem to be different.

@@CousinOlivier Glad I found this again. It's funny that as long as I've played, I never thought about the G, A connection in that same way, even after becoming aware of the C, D connection. As you point out, it's all right there theoretically. It should have been obvious. Thanks for shaking a few cobwebs loose.

@@jstnxprsn : Have a look to the C A G E D system. It might help you to visualise the interconnections between chords shapes all along the neck of your guitar. 😉🎸🎵

@@CousinOlivier I'm familiar with it, though I haven't found that particularly useful to improving my playing. Appreciate the advice, Oliver.

Every open chord shape can be used as movable barre chords too and use your pinky finger as a “capo “

@@vSenseiii well the 6th interval is not a "secret" or a "hack" and then the video meanders across all kinds of things. He could say same thing about root and flat 7 or root and third or root and 5. These are not "secret" either but are also in lots of chords.
