As a wounded combat vet. I would like to say THANK YOU for keeping the message going. I've lost more brothers and sisters to their own hands then ever in combat.
I don't know about everyone else but I get a chill when the helicopter sound hits at the end. Thank God for air support. Saved our Butts several times in Iraq.
For those who may be asking how does a vet become one of these statistics, watch "Gone Away" by Five Finger Death Punch. It deals with vets having survivor's guilt.
The video for Gone Away is an accurate depiction of the daily battle I have dealt with for many years. However I am one of the lucky ones who found good help within the VA system and thankfully am still here because of it.
My father drank himself to death to cover his thoughts feelings the guilt I myself suffer by watching him as I was growing up. But I am damn proud of my dad and everybody who has served

As a former Army attack helicopter pilot who has served in combat and lost friends for this country...do I feel unappreciated, yes but, I adapted and overcame just like I was trained to do...thank you for your reaction..

Though I never served I would gladly carry you brother. And I agree with you fully. To ask for help is no sight of weakness. Though it might not be bullets that hurt a person today there may still be scars and to heal you need a differnt kind of medic. It's not the same thing but a couple of years ago my father were diagnosed with cancer and began treatment and also suffered pneumonia and went into a medically induced coma for three weeks. I had the mindset to be strong and didn't show any feelings even when I went to see him. This kept all the feelings inside and I stopped sleeping due to the fear of getting a call from my family telling me that he stopped breathing. I had a great boss that I told and a even greater girlfriend that I live with to this day. My boss got me a free psychologist and my gf second the tips that to just go to my father, talk to him even though he wouldn't respond and just let things out. I have never cried as much in my life than that day. After a couple more sessions with the psychologist during the coma, after him waking up and the cancer going away I can say that if not for that I would have blamed myself for life if I just kept everything inside of me if my father would have passed away. I were lucky to have a supporting gf and a boss that helped me.. but if you are alone or if you don't have the support from Human Resources ..just try to talk to -somebody-. The weight on your shoulders will fall off and the release will make you feel so stupid when you look back at why you kept it inside all along. Also: Thank you all for your service and sacrifice.
Thank you Brother for doing this song. I'm a Vietnam Vet and this video is always hard to watch, but it's a story that needs to be told. The way you reacted to this video says a lot about what kind of man you are. I wish more young people understood as much as you do. Now your generation is getting to be the old men...and I know that sooner or later, your generation will be gone, as all generations before you. A large segment of our country wants nothing more than to just forget Vietnam happened, and seeing Vietnam vets is a reminder that it did indeed happen. Even now, 46 years after the war ended, I still get nasty remarks from people when I wear my Vietnam Veteran hat. I used to think that would end after enough time had passed; now I know it will not end until we're all gone. All we want is to be remembered for what we did. Unfortunately, other than for a few people like yourself, most people don't want to remember; they just want to forget and pretend it never happened. Thank you again Isaiah; I really mean that!!

Second, it was also the first war after World War II that had the draft. When I first saw the news footage from the 1960s and 1970s, my thought at the time was: Why? Why did America hate her fighting men so much? Even now, I still dont understand why, given that Second World War veterans came home to heroes' welcomes. You did the same thing they did, you served in the same army, wore the same uniform. Went to a foreign country, just like them. Yet you were the hated ones. You gave everything, to go to a place where you never felt that you were truly safe. You dealt with demons during night patrols, and many who served, of your generation, lost people they cared about -- best friends, battle buddies. And then to come home, already being shattered or broken...and feeling like nobody cared...sir, I cannot, nor will I ever, know what it was like for you. All I can do is ensure that your story is told, until my last breath. You and your comrades did the impossible -- fighting a highly-politicized war -- and that, sir, in my eyes, makes you mighty.
I am a VA brat ,I ran the Halls from the time I was 3, my father could not serve because of the only surviving son rule so he fought through Administration cutting red tape for VA benefits,At 20 I got married on one of the permanent care Ward's and I can tell you what I've had the privilege to Bear witness to haunts my waking soul to this day I just want to say bless you and yours and all who serve past present and future and maybe one day there will be peace..God speed🕊❤🙏

This song is the only song that if I hear it, I am 100% guaranteed to cry. I served in Iraq twice and Afghanistan once for a total of 40 months in combat. My first tour to Iraq lasted 16 months. Our Brigade alone lost 52. Our Battalion lost our CSM and 12 others. I don't think I could ever talk about exactly what we went through not even to a shrink but know that I will never forget them and those that never made it home.
"How many wasted lives, how many dreams did fade away Broken promises, they won't be coming home" While many die overseas, many of those who make it back still aren't home. Their sanity and their minds were destroyed for wars led by war profiteers.

I'm incredibly sorry! I wish the system was better for our Vets. But, there are also Vets who won't get help. I know this coming from an almost entirely military family. There are some great programs out there. But, I think what we need most is a program that creates a better transition between military and civilian life. BEFORE they get out! That would be the most helpful thing we can do. And make better changes at the VA. It's better than it was. But far from good. I've Lost all three of my parents.( Father, Mother and Stepfather) All are buried in National Cemeteries along with Aunt, Uncles and Grandparents. The VA was truly horrible in Phoenix AZ. Neglect and failure to do basic tests cost me my Mom and Stepfather only months apart. Anyway, I do hope in time that our troops get much better care. But given our White House's agenda right now, I doubt it will be any time soon. 💕🙏🇺🇸 God Bless those all who have fought and fallen! All of our Troops who serve and have served!

The best description I’ve ever heard for FFDP - they aren’t pro war, they’re pro soldier. I’m not gonna lie, this ones one of the very few vids that can reliably get me to tear up a bit. If you want another one similar, their version of Gone Away had a similar vid.
This is one of the videos you will get never out of your mind again. Everytime I hear that song I see ths video. I am happy that in our society soldiers are treated better. A professional soldier here goes to retirement with 55 and gets 75% of his last salary before taxes and with a very good health care. We also lacking the support of PTSD treatment, but it is a quite rare condition. Thank you for your honest reaction.
I didn't serve myself, but everytime I see this clip there's a big lump in my throat. I have a deep appreciation for those who served, gave their life or are still at places I surely don't want to be.

My Dad Growing up told me "Don't cry for everything." I think he understood that things like what's presented in the video are a prime example of the powerful things that will undoubtedly make a grown man cry or at least tear up. We don't cry for everything but when we do for something, ya best damn well respect it.

You know, the saddest part is the fact that some homeless vets will actually go back into service just so that they can have a home, just so that they can feel like they have family. It's rough, believe me. My parents are splitting up, plus I'm in high school, so I feel you, brother. Although people say the world is full of opportunities, it's hell. People only care about themselves. Society is a big popularity contest. The real ones will stay above that. They're too good for that popularity contest. I encourage you to at least try and see the flaws in society and rise above them.
my fiance has fought in both Iraq and Afghanistan..be has ptsd and night terrors I have to calm him down and relax him. our men are amazing people and a lot turn a blind eye to our vets. thank you for this video
Bro! I know how you feel. I'm a vet, my dad and big brother(adopted) were both in the Bush in Nam. I took my youngest daughter to a FFDP concert and a vet was sitting on a curb homeless and talked to him and gave him $20 that night. My daughter asked me why and I simply told her I am my brothers keeper. I'll remember talking to him that night for the rest of my life.

There nothing wrong with tears of Love for our Heroes. Here is the Love of The Brotherhood. I can hardly stop crying. My family was all military I grew up military and I have fought for our Brave Heroes to get care....I currently work with a Marine Col and even through him it's so hard because of Politicians BullShiT*. It's our responsibility to look out for and care for our Military Veterans. They gave and died for me and they never knew my name. God Bless you for getting this out for our Veterans they need us.

I agree with your sentiment about vietnam, everytime I see one of those hats I make a point to shake their hand and tell them thank you... the way they were treated at the time was despicable and I can only hope it helps a little now. Don't be ashamed of tears either. I'm a big tough Marine and this song has me crying by the end too.

My father was a war veteran, who was injured by mortar in the 90's during Croatian war of independence. After he got back, he was never the same person, suffering from the servere PTSD, which finally led to his early death at the age of 57. This song hit me hard. It is both beautiful and disgusting how long that list is. NONE of those organizations should have to exist. But they do, and all blessings to those on that list.
Yes! on the one hand, I'm glad there are so many organizations out there helping veterans, but the people who send our soldiers out need to take better care of them by default when they come home. Like the song says, they're not made of stone.
I'm a Vet, my wife is a Disabled Vet, and 1 of our son is currently serving in the US Army. Thank you for doing this! On a side not, I got to spend Memorial Day in DC paying my respects at our National Memorials with both of my sons, my son in law and one of their good friends. Arlington National Cemetery and the Changing of the Guard is overwhelming.

I'm a Vetran of 22 years service in the British Army, I have seen active service in Northern Ireland, Iraq, Afghanistan and United Nation peace support operations. It's fair to say I watch this and it hits hard, so many accuracies attached to this video and many more like it. I would like to take this opertunity to thank my amazing Daughter for standing by me and giving me a reason to come home, this young lady grew up with me serving so she has sacrificed and shown selfless commitment for the greater good too, I love you so much and thank you for being you my amazing Daughter. I did grow up to be a soldier, like most in this country since we have conscripts in Finland. Happy that I haven't been needing those skills yet & I made a choice not to go fight against somebody in their hometurf as a peacekeeper. I got hard time to think about the situation in the US as a vet.. being homeless & fighting with PTSD.. I really wish you guys could do alot more to help those! end the homeless problem & get the help they really need. :)
My grandfather ws in ww2, hes still here thankfully, each time i see a veteran or generally someone within army or navy or anything like that i stop ehay i am doing, walk up too them, shake their hand and thank them for putting their life on the line for our country
Thank you for this video. As an Army vet that was medically retired after serving 13 years. This seriously hits home. I feel guilty that my brothers and sisters in arms are some of these statistics and I am one of the ones that is "ok" and i use the term ok loosely because I fought in Iraq and Afghanistan as part of the 10th Mountain Division and have been through literal HELL. I have chronic PTSD, and if it wasn't for the support of my wife and son I would have been a statistic too. With what we go through we are essentially led to believe we are expendable and nothing more than an instrument of war and are discarded once the government feels we are no longer of any use. I know there are people out there that care but do not know these numbers and the government just sweeps these issues under the rug. It is a very serious issue that needs to be corrected, for the sake of my brothers and sisters pleas pay attention and do research on these issues.
Death Punch definitely has a way of opening people's eyes to what battle can do to those who fight for our protection. One of the reasons as to why I love them. More songs like this are their cover of Gone Away and also When the Seasons Change. Also more songs that benefit veterans are from a group called the Warrior Song Project I believe. They've done songs for most the branches like Hard Corps, The Warrior Song, Aer Vis, Leviathan, and Aquila Natus. They all sound similar, but the lyrics and sounds are a little different to reflect the branches. My favorites are Hard Corps since my dad is a Marine, and Leviathan since my granddad was in the Navy

I appreciate it when someone shows respect to those who fought in Vietnam bc they were so disregarded when they got back home. When he saw another Vietnam Vet, recognized by a cap or something, (I bought my dad a cap that said Vietnam Vet about 15 yrs ago) they always said welcome home to each other. I get so angry when I see someone disrespecting a Vet.😡
I tried hard, I Was in Afghanistan in 09. Lost a buddy there, I got home, went to school, became a medical professional. I thought that I could help myself by helping others. I descended into madness, lying to myself. I eventually lost my job and my apartment, nearly lost my life to my own hand. I was on a waiting list for the VA for months until the police got involved because I tried to kill myself. I can no longer work and am fully disabled, even though I look fine on the outside. Counselling and medication keeps me functional, but just barely. There are not enough resources out there to help all the vets that need it and I know there are guys and girls much worse off than me. And we are also part of the problem, because someone who is a warrior, who is willing to die for others and sees themselves as a protector feels weak and powerless when asking for help. It takes more strength than we ever showed in battle to admit that we can't beat something, when all our lives we've been beating the odds, overcoming impossible obstacles, doing things that normal people would never attempt. But even we can't fight the demons in our head alone. Nobody can.

when i left the army in 2013 after serving in both iraq an afghanistan ive been there in the last 9 years ived ended up homeless 4 times and each time ive done my best to bounce back this song has saved my life at least a few times.

This song is the reason that every time I see a homeless person I give what I have atm and ask them if they want to get something to eat and drink with me. It really opened my eyes. You never know what they went tru and why they are in that situation.
For years, I do alot of volunteer work weekly with veterans of all different wars so this video has made me tears up every, single, time I watch it! Please support our Veterans in any way you can. Prayers, donations, volunteer or just shake their hand and say thank you. They deserve so much more!!

This video is about nine years old. The statistics in it, they are 5 times higher now. I am a disabled veteran myself, and I cried watching this video, knowing there are brothers and sisters in these situations.

As an Iraq War veteran, as hard as it had been for houseless veterans, I have to feel hard for everyone, veteran and non-veteran houseless who doesn't even have access to woefully underfunded VA services. And the end to the evictions moratorium is going to make everything worse for everyone. Nobody should have had to spend all these years in these wars. They've been nothing but disastrous. I don't want your thanks. What I need is your understanding and support in helping those that desperately need it.
