➡️ Learn how to overcome anxiety and end panic attacks: www.byebyepanic.com/?...
One of the questions I get asked the most in the anxiety recovery journey is if there’s one "hack" or "trick" for long-term freedom.
As someone who has struggled with anxiety, I can say with certainty that the key to long-term recovery is not to focus solely on making the symptoms go away but rather to make the decision to live your life fully despite their presence.
When I was in the throes of my own anxiety struggle, I made the mistake of trying every possible "hack" or "trick" to relieve my symptoms - breathing techniques, yoga, meditation, medication, supplements, you name it.
But nothing seemed to work, and over time, I became so hyper-focused on how I was feeling that I stopped living altogether.
The turning point came when I decided to live with my symptoms side by side. Instead of trying to fix or fight the anxiety, panic attacks, digestive issues, and other physical sensations, I simply brought them along as I went about my daily activities.
This shift in mindset was critical - I realized that recovery is not an "all or nothing" proposition and that progress happens gradually, with ups and downs along the way.
Tune in to this episode to learn how to apply this approach in your own anxiety recovery journey!

This is how I recovered! An anxiety symptom hit me in Costco this weekend, but then I just floated through, I knew what it was and they went away. I looked around at all the people around me and knew I was just like them again 🥰

@anticringe0
@anticringe0 21 день назад
@@megblackwolf5470 By watching Shan's videos, I understood anxiety well and what helped me most is that I kept this fact in my mind that no matter the intensity of the anxiety attacks, I never die from it, it's only me thinking about dying or something bad is about to happen but in reality it was just my dysregulated nervous system that couldn't differentiate between actual threatening situations and the unreal one's. So you have to teach your nervous system to make it work as it is is supposed to do. Only way that can help in doing so is to stay calm during anxiety and carrying on with what you're doing by keeping in mind the fact that it's just a false alarm that can only be repaired by not reacting too much and next time it'll feel easy to handle and eventually they'll go. Good luck!

The next step is dropping all coping mechanisms. That is embracing acceptance fully. It’s ok to get reminders and inspiration from time to time, but if you’re using the videos daily as a crutch/reassuranxe, it’s just going to hold you back long term. And then it’s just about staying consistent and patient. You’ve got this.

@@clydejane728 Yes, when you lose fear of your symptoms, the symptoms do shift and new ones will pop up; its all part of the recovery journey. The key is not letting any new symptom throw you off for too long, and just throwing EVERYTHING under the anxiety umbrella. You will never go back to zero. You already have the knowledge you need, and will never become as scared as you were before you knew it.

It’s ironic, one of the last things I was doing before anxiety got really bad was enjoying visits to Austin and driving all around, driving people actually for RideAustin. It’s literally a night and day difference what my life was then and now, being almost 2 years of unable to leave my house in Houston. Very surreal. But I do think I’m at that stage where I have exhausted everything and I’m ready to not care anymore. Plus, I believe the nervous system does regulate and dig deep roots during this time. It’s not overnight, for sure. I still feel I have ways to go. My anxiety is so bad, nervous system so sensitized still, it’s simply not the time to push myself too hard yet until my nervous system can really see that it’s lying to itself. Unfortunate how it takes years

You can't feel better unless you are out there. Think of your brain as a kid with some irrational fears, and your identity as an adult - then tell the kid to go ahead regardless of outcome. Basically as if your brain is a kid who is afraid of exams and YOU are an adult who reassures the kid into giving the exam anyway, regardless of outcome. I don't know if this makes sense but that's how I am trying to deal with it now.

What if you do know why you’re experiencing symptoms and that isn’t helping you? Like I have had tests and people tell me I have health anxiety but, there’s a part of me that still doesn’t believe it so I’m not sure where to go from there. It’s linked to a ptsd event so I don’t get anxiety from all of my symptoms but, a select few that will not go away and are debilitating. And I “know” it’s anxiety but, I can’t seem to move forward.
