Just watching David drinking the cheese tea absolutely cracked me up. His face and comments always crack me up. 'Put me on tracks and call me a train.' Flippin' epic!
I'm surprised you never heard of breadfruit. It was the reason a major war was started 100's of years ago. It has to be cooked to be enjoyed -- usually roasted and/or fried. It has a starchy taste, well, like bread. And you need to hit it with salt to bring out the flavor. Jamaicans eat slices of breadfruit with other breakfast foods or other meals during the day. It's not something you would just eat by itself. It's best as a side dish.
Phuket was wiped out in the 2004 tsunami. The Indonesian tsunami all up lost nearly 200,000 lives. It also took Phuket nearly 3 years to recover. Even actor Richard Attenborough's daughter Jane lost her life there. Sad time for many.
@bpaakwaan7325 phuket was destroyed. Everyone lost their livelihood, the bars, their homes, hundreds of lives, and thousands of injuries just in phuket alone. I don't doubt the devastation elsewhere, but phuket was unrecognisable after the tsunami hit. It did take them years to recover.
Just an idea if you're carrying expensive camera gear/electronics in damp/wet environments: invest in roll top drybags. I don't believe in avoidable stress.
Breadfruit is delicious sliced like bread and cooked on the BBQ, just like toast and then you as thick butter which melts into it. Breadfruit also makes a nice curry with potatoes and or dried peas added and eaten with puri - deep fried roti or chapati's. That's how we ate it in Fiji when I lived there.
Have you guys ever considered going on a Cunard cruise? I realize it would be different from the way you typically cruise but would be really curious to hear your thoughts - We have cruised QM2 several times with my inlaws ( obviously a bit older crowd) but have been surprisingly pleased
Hi Ben and David. This was so fun and absolutely gorgeous! Have to add it to the bucket list of cruises. That "tea" oh my goodness. Your face 😝. Thank you for all you do always and taking us along ❤❤
I know you are “cruise guys” but could include your flight experience and the expenses associated with the flights. Also, I would like for you to include the cost of it all. Just my humble request. We, the wife and I love your videos. They are the best of the cruise videos.
I am an American living full-time in Thailand since 2006. I also worked on board cruise ships as an Entertainer for 34 years (1982-2016). The ships are great for a quick overview of a country, but you should really spend a minimum of two weeks to really appreciate it. Condo rentals are very inexpensive and can be found in most areas. I recommend staying in Bangkok or Pattaya as it is more central to the country allowing for easy day trips in all directions.
I love scouring the comments section for the people sharing really useful nuggets of advice. I was dead set on cruising my way through Asia, but watching this video made me realise I would be frustrated with the "herding" approach on the group excursions and the limited time to spend on the beach. I'm definitely planning a land vacation probably for 2025.
Love your videos. The number of people on these ships put me off. Going to Thailand on Thursday. Choice of two nightly cabaret shows where I stay, drinks are £4. Beach is there every day. Thai food, Thai culture
Great video guys, Such an important tip about booking. It's so frustrating to be on a ship with all these amazing shows and they are all booked up after the first day.
I recently got off Ovation of the Seas on Friday last week after an 18 night cruise from Hawaii. I absolutely love the Quantum class as well even though Ovation is the only Quantum class ship I’ve sailed on :) Spectrum looks amazing though :)
I just found your videos last week and I've been watching back all of them. I love you guys! I look forward to watching all your videos and to follow all of your adventures going forward. Sending love from Canada
Breadfruit can be made into a delicious curry, but my favourite way was to slice it about an inch thick and cook on the BBQ for a few minutes each side, and then put lots of butter on one side. It was delicious. Spongy like bread but crispy like toast when BBQ'd.
Your escursion was STUNNING!!! Those beaches and mountains/islands!! The water!! Omg! Gorgous!! I could see myself loving that excursion!! Thank you for the detailed food critiqe. Very interesting. That was extremely gross and good to know about whdn those people were just grabbing huffet food with their hands and eating it! You made a good dining cgoice. Yes! Those shows should be seen by all passengers! Thank you, so much, for the imppcrucial tip about immediately downloading the app after boarding and make choices! Thanks for the info. and laughs, guys! 😃 Jennifer San Francisco Bay area USA
Oh my goodness, I am so jealous! Love Thailand...been to Phuket, Phi Phi Island, Bangkok, Krabi, and way up north in Chiang Mai. An incredible area!! I was there a year after the tsunami to check on projects bringing fresh water back to many communities. That would definitely a cruise that I would look forward to take! Awesome! Bruce and Otis
My Soidog Eugene came from Phuket. Sweet dog, loved him so much!!!!❤ Miss him. Soi dog rescue was started in Zphuket, Thailand and now is in 6 countries!!!!❤
That was so beautiful. I have always dreamed of going to Thailand. It truly is beautiful. I am so jealous of the two of you in terms of your ability to travel and cruise so frequently. I know of the World Cruise Ship where people buy homes on the ships and travel daily. Of course, that is way too expensive. If I could, however, I would always be on the go. Peace and love to you both. Thanks for all that you do.
I love breadfruit. To me it's like a cross between bread and potato. In Jamaica you roast it with she'll on until brown on outside. Then you can store it for a while or freeze it in foil. ( Looks like a small soccer ball). When ready to use peel skin off . I cut it up into big wedges and fry in pan with some oil. Turns quickly golden brown like fries. You can also boil it or do in oven with some oil (cut in wedges). It takes very little time to cook after it's been roasted with peel on. Enjoy.
I cannot relate to cheese tea. Not tempted to try it! Thank you for the video! Do you ever find yourselves overwhelmed when you get home and have to revert back to cooking for yourselves? !!
When you said you were eating breadfruit as a fruit, I thought you were kidding. They're called Ulu here in Hawaii and it needs to be cooked. Also, if you ever get one to cook, make sure to coat the blade you use to cut it with oil.
Thailand is truly fabulous! We visited Thailand twice for 3 weeks each time (not on cruise). We loved Phi Phi Island and the snorkeling was excellent. When traveling in Thailand, it's very affordable (after you pay for flight to get there)! So glad you had great time there!
Literally laughing out loud when David said his brownie dessert didn’t have sugar so it’s practically fruit!! Love that way of thinking, David. Great video ❤
The best drinks in Leaf and Bean are actually the traditional Chinese teas in a pot, if you get a chance again you should definitely try one. Also, I had a great time with the Elephant Sanctuary shore excursion at Phuket, something to consider too!
Glad you liked Thailand! Looking forward to see your videos of you visiting Thailand again. I enjoyed watching your chanel eventhough I've never cruised before. FYI those 'Thai food' that you liked could be much much better, not to disapprove or anything but they looked tacky af, as a Thai I really hope you get to try real authentic Thai menus and I'm sure you'll enjoy it even more!
Great honest video. We went on Anthem to Norway in May and absolutely loved the Quantum Class ship. It has a great balance between size, variety, stuff to do and venues for us. It was a full ship but we never had a problem finding a spot in any of the bars or restaurants, while at the same time the bars were nicely full with bags of atmosphere. The only issue was getting in to the 270 show (Spectres cabaret - utterly bikers but great)- which needed booking - but all other shows had space. The 270 was our favourite venue during the day - especially sipping cocktails at the bar looking out to sea.
Ben and David, We have booked on MSC at the end of summer. We are sad that you had problems, we are worried that we will have a bad time. I hope you both are ok.
Loving another video! Thailand looks beautiful ❤ Haha about the cheese drink. It’s not one of my faves but I’ve had one that was really good in Chinatown. 😊 can’t wait for your next video!
Hey Ben and David. Happy Sunday. Meeting at 7? Wow. Tender. The water looks amazing. Look forward to cruising this side of the world. My husband and I listening as we get our clothing together. Sailing this 18th on MSC Seascape. Glad you guys had an amazing time. Have a great week. 🤗🛳️
Ben and David, that small drumstick is actually the top part of the wing, it is called a drumett. It is not part of the leg.....just top part of the wing, lower part of the wing is called a wingett
I have been a couple off times to the bay a couple off times, once on Royal and another time while on a land based holiday in Phuket, quite amazing the rock formations, while on Royal in the morning the mist was in, quite spooky, but naturally beautiful when the sun burned through, fantastic experience
Breadfruit was the reason for Bligh and the voyage of the Bounty to French Polynesia. The mission was to being seedlings to the colonies in the West Indies (Caribbean), namely Barbados, to be a source of cheap food for the slaves on the plantations.
We were on Spectrum last Dec & enjoyed the eco-tour to fish & pearl farm at Phuket 😊🫶. And we never dine at crazy-busy Windjammer too 😅… loved the calmer Silver Dining, then 1 night in Main Dining & 1 specialty dining ☺️. Yes better to book any specialty dining & Main Dining, drink packages BEFORE the cruise, always worked well for us as we cruise annually 🫶
In 2016 we spent 7 nights on a land holiday in Phuket, and yearn to go back! Highly suggest going there for at least that amount of time on a land holiday, a day on a shore excursion is really only a teaser!
lol I also tried cheese tea and I’m Asian and it was a definite NO for me - thank you Ben for saying Szechuan again lmao😂 I want to do a cruise in Asia so bad!!
Yes…your not wrong about downloading the App and booking things.especially your dining. We’ve recently come off Arvia. You really need to book your restaurants ASAP either before you board or as soon as you can on board. We didn’t have any problems with booking the restaurants. The virtual Q’s went down really quick even on celebration night. Download and book….the new normal for cruising on the bigger ships. We LOVED Arvia and will go on her again… Some of the food on here looked quite bizarre ! 🇬🇧👍
Just trying to catch up on the latest episode of Cruise with Ben and David’s adventures before we get all togged up for Celebration Night, but the Wifi onboard P&O’s Arvia is causing some major buffering issues 😢. Cant wait to view your next series of travel vlogs guys 😜🤫
Wow what a beautiful place will definitely put that on our bucket list. We watched your cruise on Celestyal cruises which we loved so have booked a cruise with them for August . Thanks again we love watching you on RU-vid.
I can remember being in China and was told that, with the multiple courses, “when the fruit comes, you know dessert has arrived!” - so it’s just like grabbing 2 or 3 desserts!
Guys, can you do us all a favour and go on a “normal” holiday to contrast your cruise experience. Pick anywhere you’ve been, let’s say Phuket and stay at a luxury resort then do a comparison to cruising.
Wow, the colours are so vibrant! The whole video feels so warm. I don't know what kind of camera you are using but it i love how it looks. 10:30 what a sight. My favourite is looking the colours reflected on your sunglasses
I've found this issue lots recently while onboard the more full ships. This issue seemed to start with MSC offering 'bookings' for shows, but then it meant that for multiple days, I had no entertainment to go to. Currently, I'm onboard Virgin (Valiant Lady) and find that the dining bookings can be problematic if you don't start booking before you board the ship (at least for your first few nights...)
I'm so envious. I was in Thailand last November and I miss it so much. We went to Bamboo Island too and met a lovely big iguana there. I have a picture but I can't figure out how to add it. I'm loving your videos.
A common practice in Asian culture is to get a plate of fruit to share with many people at your table as dessert. That may be why you saw people fill their plates at the sliced fruit station.
We were on the sister ship Anthem in August. Best food we’ve had on RCL. Main dining room food was amazing. We liked it better than Costal Kitchen because the food was just as good, but is had a bigger menu.
Looks like you had a great snorkel experience! Bamboo Beach is beautiful! We have seen some poor etiquette at the buffets as well. Makes one not want to eat there! We bring hand sanitizer always! Big turn off to see people eat while serving themselves! (I wonder what Royal could do to prevent this?) Would have skipped the cheese tea and coffee lemonade! I love trying new things but couldn’t have done it!😂 (Big coffee fan too!) Yes, absolutely try to book shows before you get on the ship! Royal Caribbean shows are awesome! Seen Effectors on Wonder! Loved it! We really enjoy your content! Your descriptions are so thorough and detailed! Appreciate your honesty, humor, and delightful personalities!! Thank you Ben and David!!!😊❤️
While I am not a fan of cheese in bubble tea, fruit tea, smoothies, etc (in large part because I don't like cheese) the sheer number of bubble tea shops in that sell it around the world is a good indication of it's popularity 😏 I would definitely try the coffee with lemonade though. It sounds similar to an Arnold Palmer (tea with lemonade).
Oh you cruised spectrum 😍😍 ive wanted to cruise that but it only goes overseas. And... i get what you mean about the buffet. We went to a buffet on our activity in Vietnam and it was... so bad. Good was good but it was a mess
Went to Phuket in the late 80’s. - I’m using my double credit points for all my excursions being a lone pax -paying for a balcony etc I’m still paying for two
Having the servers dance is so unnecessary and degrading for the crew. I’ve spoken to many former crew, mostly from Carnival, and they say they hate it sooo much. This ‘dance monkey’ entertainment is awful.
