IG and RU-vid must be chomping at the bit. RU-vid has already been increasing efforts into RU-vid Shorts the last couple of years. If this TikTok ban goes through, I can see them rebranding Shorts into its own short form content platform to replace TikTok.

Amazing video on crisis management , its fascinating how you collected data to make right decisions, and quickly got in front of your customers to help alleviate their concerns . Its times like this that builds alot of goodwill for the brand. its paid off how you were already actively looking to hedge the Tiktok ban back when it was already a rumor. It will just slow your growth and slash the revenue slightly. BUT, if it does happen I think you should just follow the creators because ultimately you have to go where they go and than double down on that new path. VC pressure might increase :) Rooting for you guys!

Zero sum as in all the time users wont be spending on Tiktok they will have to spend somewhere else (most likely on other social media).

@@jayhoovy Most of the creator shifted to Instagram. And few new platforms emerged specifically replacing tiktok (moj, sharechat, and more)

@@jayhoovy It all shifted to Instagram and Snapchat broski. And there were a couple of clones that tried to copy the TikTok thing, but Reels & Snapchat grew immensely thereafter.

The scripted vlog format that you've been doing has been awesome (and might appeal to a wider audience than something like this), but I love this slightly different format where you're cutting and splicing actual meetings that you're having day-to-day.

Curious to hear your thoughts -- in a world where TikTok in the U.S. goes away completely vs. is sold / spun out, is RU-vid or Meta better positioned to win short-form video? My hunch is RU-vid but I'm not well versed on either.

I think IG will likely be categorical winner in short-term, RU-vid mobile is still kinda iffy and I don't think it's wired into folks' brain like the IG pathway. RU-vid will definitely win a ton too to be clear.
