Our farm is in North Fl and growing up back in the day, the chicken fighters would give you chickens and would periodically return to capture some stags. Otherwise they were yours. Survival of the fittest, however predators were serverly kept in check back then.

I find it much better to allow them to mature out slowly so they'll get to a point where they'll challenge the alpha male and they'll 1 learn how to fight and defend himself and 2 he'll sponge up any survival traits that your broodcock has so he'll be an amazing well rounded brood cock. But anyways give us an update on the Dyno chickens how are they doing?
I have a rooster that i got when he was pretty young and now even when he's almost matured hesway too afraid 9f the alpha male , will he ever actually challenge him ? Do u have any tips so that his fear is gone ? I really wanna see him become the leader of the coop
@@OREWAPOWA Split your rooster and the alpha put your rooster on a cage and cover it with something that the alpha won't see your rooster after some couple months your rooster will be not feared and can fight back a little so you need not to fear alpha is. Is you just pick up the alpha and let your rooster peck him until the alpha is scared to fight
I have Oxford old English game fowl, and mine like fully wild, I feed them wheat only, they next under hedge rows and come off nests with chicks, I find if I catch the mothers up with the chicks and raise them in a large run with perches then I turn them back out when the chicks are about 6 weeks they do better, if I leave them out the mothers only raise a couple as the rest get snatched my birds.
Something Charlie mentions is critical. “Oxford” is the important term. There are two groups of Old English gamefowl (not counting the bantams), the Carlisle and Oxford. Oxford are the original and “true” Old English Game. Carlisle are derivative show birds more like Modern Games. It is HARD to find real Oxford Old English Game in the States. Most Old English game sold by hatcheries in the States are American gamefowl bred to APA show standards, primarily because the American game is not a recognized breed. American games are the direct decedents of Oxford type Old English Game but often have oriental or Spanish blood bred into them, while true Oxford Old English Game from Britain should generally be pure to type going back centuries or longer. It is likely Old English Game are what Caesar saw the Celts using for cockfighting in the BC era. The Celts probably got them from Greek or Phoenician traders in previous generations.
So to answer your question, yes real Oxford Old English game would likely be amazing survivors. I am only aware of one hatchery that likely has the real thing due to knowing they’re the importer of many rare breeds, Greenfire out in the Florida panhandle. Very expensive but legit to my knowledge.
My rooster is the alpha male in my area there are 17 roosters in my area but my rooster is the strongest at first when he was about 4 months he was weakest then he started fight,at age of 8 months he challenged the alpha , alpha rooster age is about at that time was 2 years but my rooster at age of 8 months he win and now he is the greastest
