Same, in that I spent 15 years in heavy work boots in labour jobs and another 10 in retail so aching feet was an every day thing and I’ve had a lot of foot issues over the years - plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, tendinitis and tendinopathy, impacted toenails, now arthritis, and I’m sure there’s something else I’ve forgotten, so I watch a lot of foot massage videos because it makes me feel better. I’m always like it’s about the feet but not in the way you think! I don’t like the feet I just like how it feels and I can’t afford to get it done myself all the time

My mom recently had to go into the hospital. She was upset and embarrassed when the doctor removed her socks and my brother and I saw the state of her toenails. I have asked my mom multiple times if she was still able to cut her toenails and she would always answer yes. I was surprised my mother had fibbed about it. I guess I'm just sharing this for others with aging relatives. If possible, look at those feet!

We all need to check on our loved ones. They don’t want us to know they aren’t able to cut their nails. So many people have beginning stages of dementia and they just don’t remember they need to do it. I’m glad you know now so you assist her :)

I arranged for a mobile podiatrist to visit my elderly mother monthly to do toe nail prep and general foot care for a similar reason to this!

My mom had dementia and she couldn’t Rene care of her feet. She hid how bad her toenails were. We had to actually have the doctor try and sedated her because she would fight us, kick or try and hit us when anyone tried to help her. It was awful. 😢

My dad’s a diabetic He does his best but his body doesn’t move the way it needs to sometimes He hates asking me for help so I very lovingly bully him into letting me handle it I did the same for my mom and grandparents I do it with my FIL I do it with my SIL I do it with my fiancé One of my main love languages is acts of service so eventually, everybody just stopped trying to argue

I have been watching your videos since around the beginning of the pandemic. I even went back and watched the old ones where you worked on ingrown toenails. So when my husband came along and mentioned his toenails were giving him problems I offered to help him. He's weird about people touching his feet so he kept refusing until finally last weekend, he caved. He soaked his feet in warm water with Epson Salts and I went to work. He had cut them way too short so there wasn't much for me to work with, but then I got to the second big toe and hit pay dirt. I was so pleased with myself when I was able to pull a spikey corner out of his sidewall. I wanted to say, "She emerges triumphant!!" but I figured he would think I was crazy. He said his feet feel much better and I think I have convinced him to let me take care of them from now on. Thanks for all the helpful lessons.

Hi Lori I’m in Tasmania Australia I wish there were podiatrists like you here . Here so far I have tried two out and they don’t even let your feet sit in water and I have suffered with an ingrown toenail I shudder when they cut my toenails with something I prune my roses with.

Well Mrs.Lori I tell you I had my dad looking for a water leak in the entire house because he heard the water running from my phone lol! All I see is love here! 😊 Aside from that: you asked about the cuticle remover stinging. That has happened to me before. I don't let my ingrown get this bad anymore (happened twice in my 30 years of life). But ☝️ it has stung when it seems inflamed like this after being on my feet a lot (without my proper maintenance) or when I'm active. What does that mean when it stings? Watching how gentle you are with cleaning and cutting the nails, and thinking of how aggressive the nail tech I went to yesterday was. 😶 She cleaned out the sides of my toenails and dug in there and cut out "excess skin and ingrowns".. my toes are sore. This just happened yesterday, so hopefully pain/soreness doesn't last too long 😔

I wish my pedicure lady was as gentle as you are, I have ingrowns on both large toes and they just cut down cut down and then pull and I’m over here screaming while my pedicure is being done and all the girls in the just turn and look at me like I’m crazy 😅 now I have to have surgery on both

I learned a lot from my Dr. , you should never get an ingrown taken out when getting a pedicure they are not doing it properly. They clip the corner then pull out whatever they can and after watching my Dr. you should clip then use a stainless steel toe nail knife/ax to run down along the toe nail then pulling it out that way you get down to the root. I dealt with ingrown for 18 yrs then had my D.r remove from the root and I been pain free for over 5 yrs.

What would you recommend for ingrown toenails with hypergranulation and scabbing? I'm taking 2 foot baths per day and trying to push the hypergranulation tissue away from the nail but it's been 3 weeks and the scab isn't falling out. It feels tight and bleeds easily.

Gloves are not required per state board. Fungus needs time and a specific environment to grow. Before and after a service, I wash and sanitize my hands which mitigates any transfer. Personally, I prefer the improved dexterity of not wearing gloves. Personal human touch is an important element of my services.
