THIS part of China helped Chinese culture go GLOBAL | An in-depth look at Fuzhou City (福建省，福州市) 

When I visit the US and meet Chinese-Americans or Chinese visitors, I always ask them which part of China they, or their family were originally from. More times than not they reply that they are from Fujian Province. I always feel that it's sort of regrettable that I have to tell them that I've been all over China, but never to their province. So this time, I made a special trip, straight to the capital of Fujian Province: Fuzhou City!
I'm so glad I made the trip and it will be so cool next time I'm home and bump into someone who was originally from Fujian (or their family was from there) to be able to tell them that I've been to their part of the world and talk about what it's like there.
