Just think it as a 0 and a 1. If you have no power then it’s a 0. If you have power then it’s a 1. Edit: Also the side that is pressed in is the active side. So if you press in on 0 then that is the active side if you press in on the 1 then that is the active side. So 0 is equal to off and 1 is equal to on. It’s how I was taught.
This is almost on the level of screenshotting your desktop with all the icons still on there, then deleting the shortcut icons and using the screenshot as a wallpaper....
I think you can right click your Windows desktop and check a box to hide all the icons, should be faster and less harmful than deleting all of them but also it should be faster for the guy to get back his icons... IF he knows that Windows has this setting, otherwise even new icons won't show up I guess, oh and if I remember correctly some programs will install shortcuts system-wide which you need admin rights and password to delete from your own desktop so I guess "my" method is the only working one if you don't know the admin password for the computer 🙃
Someone from Linus Tech Tips once pranked Taran, old Linus Tech Tips's video editor, on their secondary channel "Channel Super Fun", by plugging a wireless mouse and keyboard receiver on the back of his PC and doing stuff while he was trying to use it, also I think they ran a little software which takes a screenshot of the screen and does a full screen visual effect which makes it look like the screen "melts down" lol I think they also faked a downgrade to Windows Vista, XP, 2000, 98, 95 on his work PC I forgot 🙃
Finally I once did stupid pranks on all school computers during lunch time when nobody was there to keep an eye on the PCs, I ran and added to the Startup folder small batch files I made with infinite loops, on some PCs I made it open an infinite number of command prompts (or any other software) so that the PC quickly becomes completely irresponsive, on some PCs I made it show a full screen trollface (HTML page opened in mshta full screen if I remember correctly), and on some other PCs I made the script... shutdown the PC immediately just after you login, yes you can do that without admin rights, I had to remove my sh*t from the computers it took hours and that was more complicated than what I anticipated because the batch file executed immediately after login with no delay so it was almost impossible to delete it before it opens an infinite number of command prompts or before it SHUT DOWNS YOUR PC LOL, fortunately I had a Ubuntu live USB with me and used it to delete the batch files from Ubuntu, fortunately, although I also did not anticipate that some school PCs had BIOS passwords to lock up the ability to boot from a USB drive so FORTUNATELY teachers had the password otherwise I would've been doomed lol... stupid thing don't do it lol 🙃

I bet most people wouldnt even bother to look at that button. Its usually on the back against the wall, and I would just reach out my hand and flip it over until my PC is turned on 😂
@@andymerrettso it's grounded, mostly. I wouldn't do it if I'm moving parts around, but I do when I'm dusting. If you don't dust with an air compressor it's most likely not a problem, and even if you do it's probably fine, but it is safer

I can sometimes hear when the power supply is on when I am near it. It creates this very high frequency sound that I can feel in my head Edit: The PSU is not cheap and hasn’t done the sound in a long time.
It's annoying. The noises you are hearing are a higher frequency than most can hear - at least indirectly. If directed directly into the ear (via headphones) most people could hear those frequencies. But indirectly I don't think many people hear them.
the office prank we used to pull was to send out an e-mail to new employees saying "Welcome to the crew! We got you a cup holder" and it had a link that activated the CDROM eject executable.
Absolutely hilarious! My friends and I would write VBS scripts for the school computers during after class. We would set them to all go off at the same time for the finals class the next day. Time comes around, at about 10 am all the computers started playing sticky keys beeps and opening the disc drive at random intervals. Teacher and classmates were stunned 😂😂😂 God I miss high school
Unless they're working inside the power supply while it's plugged in, this is impossible. The highest voltage that comes out of a PC power supply is 12 volts, or 5 when it's off.
the absolute highest voltage that can come out of a power supply is 12 volts. that's physically incapable of shocking you. and if it does, it'll be like licking a 9 volt in terms of danger levels. unless you're taking the PSU apart and then working on it, that is. (but it would absolutely not be plugged in in that case.)
I pulled a prank on my brother's desktop. I locked him out and the only thing he saw was a picture of himself with the caption "I know everything about computers except how to bypass THIS!" He was SO mad lol.
Disconnect the power button of the case from the motherboard, so that the PC doesn't power on when they press the button. It will prompt the user to go on a major troubleshooting process, dismantling their PC etc until they finally discover the disconnected power button cable

My fav is screenshot the desktop set that as the desktop wallpaper hide the task bar and toss all the shortcuts in the recycling bin. Its funny as hell when the non tech savvy cant open any apps they never click on the recycling bin.
I still like putting a post it sheet over the optical reader at the bottom of a mouse. Did this to a few people in the office every April fool's day. Got some good laughs in the office.
Always used to use control+alt+directional keys to flip the screen if someone at work didn't lock their computer. People would lose their shit over it and we'd be like "what'd you do to the computer?" Lmao
In 25 years using computers I still forget which one is which and I'm flipping that switch back and forth just guessing which one is on and which one is off... 😆.
