This show was at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul. The disappearing act was smoke and mirrors---well smoke and camera shots. When the robed crowd surrounds the guys, the members leave at that point to for their costume change. The shots of them in robes and putting masks on were pre-recorded and shown on the large screens to distract you. The robed figures on stage contain no one and can drop on cue.

" You can say I'm a fan". Ouch. That was painful. And a little funny. I chuckled. A bit.😄 Let's be honest, someone was going to say it sooner or later. So own it. But Jimin doing the Traditional Fan Dance is just beautiful. He takes my breath away.💜

The "blocks" they were in had a two fold purpose. They were boxes for dolls/marionettes just as Fake Love lyrics indicate "make me your doll". In another performance for this, they are marionettes. They also spelled out PERSONA, a hint for their next album at that time which was Map Of The Soul.

Idol was the time when antis started to actively promote the narrative that bts have become overly westernized. so they went full out with that mv and this performance, a whole korean festival Jimin's fan dance was awarded with Appreciation Plaque for contribution to spreading the korean fan dance across the world, and Jimin is the youngest korean artist to receive 3 national awards (Order of Cultural Merit, Van Fleet Award, and Plaque of Appreciation)

So about those sets. Hahaha. They have begun. By the way this is the year that MAMA used those hands that we were talking about in the last video. I think that the blocks are suppose to spell out ARMY but its very loose translation. The award show began to be held as of 2017 in the Gocheok Sky Dome known as the gymnastic olympic stadium. The second song is known as Airplane II. Airplane was on J-Hope's first solo mixtape then they took the thought further and made one for the entire band known as Airplane II. Red and Blue fire represents the Korean flag. All 3 dances are cultural dances. 1 the drum dancers, 2 fan dance, 2 and the dragon dance.

JK said in a recent group V-Live after their Seoul concerts this year that he puts body oil on his abs when they perform Fake Love since he flashes his abs. The guys all cracked up and RM said - What are you grilling steak? 🤣😂🤣

Those module things (whatever you call them) spells out PERSONA. In their performances and such, they always leave easter eggs pertaining to future albums.

Idol is one of their most energetic performances. If you look it up not this show but other award shows they went so hard that the part of the stage the other idols sit at were shaking like an earthquake one awards show (look up BTs idol shaking) and another show the stage nearly collapsed and there is a mildly terrifying video someone captured of every single staff member running to hold the stage up and some poor guy with a drill, drilling in support braces while the guys were dancing. The staff didn’t want to stop the song so hold things up (BigHit staff are freaking nuts just like the guys). It’s just a short 30 second clip but it’s worth seeing Idol in its infamousness for how hard it is on stages (look up stage collapsing BTs lately when I link vids you tube is deleting my comments like I’m a spammer).

Yes, camera guys are the worst anytime XD You'll be glad to see a video from back 2014, the camera mess up big BIIIIIIIIG time in the performance, that BigHit uploaded a video with the choreography shot from 3 different angles and ways, and titled it "Very Good Camera", "Good Camera", "Another good camera". xD

The audio for this performance is so ucked up. I think they do it to BTS purposefully. Their sound mix, or prop issues.,,,,it’s always something.

Another wonderful reaction, you just being you. I think it is fine to watch these awards without subtitles, otherwise it is easy to miss a lot of what is going on. IDOL is my first BTS song so always has a special place in my heart. And this performance will always be my favorite. I really hope you can see them live someday! Not only because their performances are always incredible, but just the entire experience of being at a stadium full of armys and being surrounded by fan chants and love and joy, definitely the best two days of my life when I saw them in LA.

IDOL - they are showcasing their heritage with all the dance styles, love yourself, love who you are, and your nationality. Watch the Idol mv - the colors will drive you crazy. before you watch the video look up explanations for all the things in the video... that will amaze you even more. Not an item in the video is wasted.

The HUGE stages in SK r bc govt invested for years in arts/perf/tech/infrastructure rather than weapons*- no place is perfect, but other countries def hv successes/solutions we can learn fr. See also NZ- even smaller than SK, but their investments/spending priorites r diff than here- I've only been to Ireland & Canada, but it is AMAZING to ses the dividends that investing in people, transport, etc bring *SK adv a purposeful policy/strategy to expand "soft power" (arts, tech, infrastructure etc) rather than "hard" power (weapons, etc)- they knew they couldn't survive/compete w US/USSR/China/UK in size of military/weapons, so they did stuff like make sure EVERY part of SK had fast internet v early on (think of baby RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V. JK being able to get GOOD internet as a given**) bc SK govt made it a priority that even rural/v poor areas wld hv free? or v cheap access- they were able 2 see world of music online...not sure if SK was limited not just by the extreme poverty post K Armistace or that there were limits put by US, China on their "hard power" abilities- either way, seeing value of humans & investing in them is always a good thing IMO **Any ARMY who's watched BTS do a v-live from US can see how pitiful our internet still is, even in fancy hotels ...ofc, BTS is way too polite to mock us!

Ok so this was held at the Gochoek Dome in Seoul, its a baseball stadium and it holds almost 17k for baseball games and up to 25k for concerts, for this show I believe it was around 12k but im not positive. When BTS do concerts in Seoul now they do them at Jamsil Olympic Stadium and that holds up to 70K but normally a bit less for concerts, roughly 45k

Oh, Airplane pt. 2 Japanese Version is one of my favourite MVs! I rarely watch MVs (I prefer watching dance practices/live performances), but when this song is on I always sit down and watch the MV, it's magnetic ❤

BTS has said that Fake Love is one of their most difficult songs to perform live because the dancing is so difficult and the vocals are so high. So that makes this performance more impressive, I think.

MMA and MAMA are held in stadiums, with giant stages, sets bigger than most concerts, not in tiny theaters like the US Grammys, Billboard BBMA, etc. MMA is held in Korea. MAMA covers groups from several Asian countries and it is held in different countries every year (pre-C0vid) like Korea, Hong Kong, Japan, Vietnam etc. MAMA announced that it will be held in the US in a couple years, no set date. That would be cool.

The Korean music award shows put American ones to shame. American award shows are mostly for the celebrities, at small venues. But in Korea and other Asian award shows, they're held at huge venues with thousands of fans in the crowd .

I believe the creature is a Lion. The Korean Lion Dance is performed to ward off any evil spirts and to bring good fortune. And Suga did dab lol Airplane pt.2 is like the "remix" to JHope's original solo song Airplane. His verse in pt. 2 is his same verse (start of the 2nd verse) from Airplane. After I finish watching your video, I’m gonna look for fancam video of the Fake Love performance. I’m thinking the hooded drop off at the end of the performance of Fake Love is only a video and not a live performance. The reason is because I rewinded back to also see when their individual blocks that they came from disappears from the stage. The blocks are visible until @ 11:39; it looks like there’s a cut scene. Did anyone mention that Airplane Pt.2 has two different music videos? Their is a Korean one and a Japanese one. Often they will sing their songs in different languages. Mostly Korean, of course, Japanese and English. Both mv's have the same feel, but the sets are different. You might like them.

there difference between US award shows and Asian award shows. first are created about the artists for the artists, second are created about the artist for the FANS. that's why venues like Gocheok Sky Dome that usually host concerts and sports plays host these award shows too

Fun fact about Airplane pt 2 - On Hobi's mixtape there is a song called Airplane. Rapmon loved it so much he asked Hobi if they could lift a verse and make a new song around it - Hence Airplane pt 2 - If you ever get the chance to listen to Hobi's mixtape (Hope World) I suggest you do as it is a masterpiece.

They did traditional fan dance and ribbon dance (I think) before Idol. Airplane Part 2 is a Great song; I'm not sure if there is an MV, so if you find one I'll definitely watch. Airplane Pt 2 is a follow up to J-Hope's Airplane from his own Mixtape, Hope World. When you watch the Idol MV, you may want to also watch Idol as Explained by a Korean on DKDKTV channel. There is a Lot of Korean symbolism in that video, which as a non-Korean I never would have known. I loved every song in this award show! I'm still in awe at the robe drops in Fake Love too. Had to have them on strings and they dropped after the guys went through a trap door or something, right??

You really should watch “rise of bangtan” the docuseries… a lot of the questions you have or the things that don’t make sense to you when it comes to the industry in sk and the Korean culture which are beyond relevant to their music, visuals and content are all very well explained and shown in ways that will make everything more digestible for you. This foundation of knowledge really is essential to grasp so much more in a much easier way . I know I’ve been saying this basically since your first reaction and a lot of other viewers def have as well so I really hope at some point you will check it out and pretty sure in the first episode you will learn quite a few things that will fill in some blanks for you . Also not everybody stages are this elaborate but I’m pretty sure all mma are held at the same place if I’m not mistaken here
