I can definitely also recommend Pokémon Crystal Clear! Turns the 2nd gen into an "open world"-experience. Start in whatever town you like(from either region), pick from a wider variety of starters, and go through the world as you want. No need for HMs, no need to do the gyms in order. Plus bonus content spread throughout both regions. Edit: Plus you can catch different Pokémon, including starters, in the open

You have to try GS Chronicles. With the added tiles of gen 4 the graphics are a godsend for a GBA. Currently running it on the miyoo Mini and I'm loving it.

This reminds me of the first romhack I ever played called shiny gold which was the same idea as this which I loved bc I had never played gen 2 on gb. I remember playing it till I reached the end of its development since it was still in progress and then immediately after is when they announced hgss lol. This was back in like 2009/10

I just finished Pokemon yellow legacy. Modded to where all 150 were obtainable. Hitmon’s in victory cave, nidoking and queen in the safari park. The rods came early. The last one gives you the pokemon opposite the fossil you chose

Just a pity I bought this game as a beta and it wasn't a full version. But now I'm playing Pokemon Crystal Advance! Pokémon Crystal Advance is a one to one copy of Pokémon Crystal Version GBC. This remake game is a complete version with no missing locations. It even has a special feature that there are four seasons and a lot has been changed. I haven't found the GS Ball for Celebi event yet, but I believe the event is not encrypted in game

It looks cool, but if the pokemon have the same base stats and move sets from from the original gen 2 games, I would rather play the upcoming Crystal Legacy coming from SmithPlays

That pink/purple gameboy case goes TOO HARD. I love the.form.facfory of the closable GB SP but the flat OG GB version of the sp is really nice. The screen and case look dope. Ill be totally honest, Im in my 30s and have been playing and watching Pokemon since day 1 in the US (both Ash and I were 10), the first 4 gens dont hold much replayability for me. Theyre too dated at this point. Im currently replaying the 3ds games, the DS games are great but even the virtual console versions of the old gameboy (etc) games is just too dated to fully enjoy enough to sink another 100+ hours into at this point in my life. Excellent games and kills me to say it but I would need something like this to make it worth it to go back AGAIN for the 20th time.

I actually think the gen 2 graphics are a lot more charming than those found in FRLG

The weather effects only work if you have a cart supporting RTC (Real Time Clock).

The difficulty spikes in this game are ridiculous, just try and leave Azalea town after you beat the 2nd gym leader and you'll see what I mean.

I used to play this rom. But when I go to Union Cave to catch Lapras, I got stuck while I was on my way out. I literally couldn't go out there because there was a rock blocking the way when you surf.

I prefer a more “vanilla” Experience with crystal advance. This one doesn’t have new Pokémon and it’s literally crystal with GBA graphics!

Crystal dust is the same but with emerald as a base, but i definitely liked liquid crystal more. Theres also super liquid crystal with mega evolutions butbi think its inly in spanish

honestly could say the same for any rom hack. You can find anything from re-amps, to re-makes, to re-imagines, to forced nuzzlocks, roguelikes, puzzles, and the one I'm playing Pokemon Odyssey, which is Etrian Odyssey 3 but with pokemon catching and battles as you work your way down Yggdrasil's stratums. Music and sailing are all there.

This is a great Mod, too bad the story of it is not finished (I'd say the story stops at 99% of it). The dev shared on the pokecommunity forum what the end would look like. Nevertheless, you'll have lots of hours of fun with it!
