That's actually fairly accurate to real life for all of history. Even if you do find some mega lode in a cave good luck thinking you're going to be rich and live the good life. More likely you're going to become a target and someone bigger and more powerful is going to take it from you. You have to move it in small quantities quietly to stay under the radar and hope no one finds the main stash.

@@Jakefrmstate0 yes but you don't have to tow it anywhere and it is already flooded so you don't have to worry about the air coming out of it or any type of pressurization you can literally just go down there with a cutting torch go right into the area that you already know it to be and load everything up on a basket and bring it up to your boat and be a very simple operation if you were concerned about it going over the edge or something like that you could just as easily drill into the nearest Rock & run some steel chains and you know TIG weld them or attach them in some way to the back or side of the submarine if it was very much concerned at that point but this would be a very easy job with an experienced crew
