Another great video! Well written and beautifully shot. As for this numpad, If I were an accountant/excel warrior, it would be an instant buy. But for macro, I love the Stream Deck considering the price and macro functionality.
@WorkFromHype
@WorkFromHype 5 месяцев назад
Thanks for watching! You raise a great point about the stream deck. If you are into devices like this there are basically two sides, the steam deck side with the ease of use that screens bring, OR, the boutique macropad side (like this Numpad) where you lose the screen but the build quality is next level. I go back and forth over which side I like more. I think I am overdue to check out the latest Stream Deck though... may be time to give it a shot.

His video just feel like a commercial, certainly not a product review. Can't you see that?
@WorkFromHype
@WorkFromHype 4 месяца назад
@@MrPsanterIsBack In the video I say specifically that this is not a review, just a product showcase because I thought the numpad was interesting. I realize that I only say that towards the end of the video and not the beginning which I will do next time I do one of these showcase videos. It is certainly not a commercial, the creators of the numpad did not sponsor this video. Thanks for your feedback.

Next up..... Buying the set of control buttons (arrows, home, end, etc) that where left off the keyboard (5:50). And maybe next a separate device to bring back the function keys for the people that didn't get them. :p

I want the Q0 Max with some relegendable keycaps. I like that I could just easily shove it to the side when not needed.

Being someone that prefers a Razer keypad for gaming because of symmetrical keys... Just looking at this ... I think it could be a gaming keypad too... Symmetrical keys... the Enter key would be good for the thumb run button. Definitely another use case and it's cheaper than the Razer keypad.

The Epomaker EK21 numpad has nearly all these features (dial, hot swappable switches, gaskets plus foam, Bluetooth and wireless connectivity, VIA customizable) but without the M1-5 extra buttons and is only $40 on Amazon. Also has a few different color and switch options.
@khayfer

Yea... But it's epomaker 😏 I started with Epomaker keyboard and now having built my own mechanical keyboard from scratch, the quality from epomaker to M1 is really night and day

I just got one, so far I'm liking it but I'm really not getting very far trying to figure out a) how to customize it and b) what to customize it to do. getting it working with VIA was PITA (have to check the V2 definitions and then also have to set rendering to 3D because with 2D it won't find the device). And now I'm trying to go through via tutorials just to understand how the different momentary and toggle layer options work). I also dislike that it seems the numlock backlight is permanently linked to the numlock status and I also don't like that the rotary knob goes to sleep until you click another button first.

I would love to hear your thoughts on the Huion Keydial Mini, I use it both with mac and windows for multilayer macro use but would love for you to spend a few weeks with it as a personal driver and hear your thoughts! Maybe a great comparison as well in terms of portability compared to your other macro boards
@FernandezEmG
@FernandezEmG 2 месяца назад
same here, I was looking for an extra macro keypoad. was looking at keydial mini, xencelabs, etc. the only thing that got me is that this one is configurable by VIA which is online. i wouldnt need to find an installer... plus the keys are hot swappable. that means i can change what it feels like, sound like and look like. with the ones i mentioned before, im stuck with what it is. already ordered a barebones kit (i have switches waiting for it), the only thing im having to be scared of, is customizing it. heard in one of the posts that it is a bit of a stretch to customize it.

yeah yeah, it's all cool and classy and etc... But WHY THE HELL WOULD I WANT A NUMPAD with HOT-SWAPPABLE KEYS?!! 😬 Side (Macro?) keys are cool though. but overall it's an overkill. doesn't worth it (unless you're rich AF💀 )

Ya know how every commercial is so annoying with background music? This video is the same, annoying AF. If I wanted to listen to annoying background music I'd tune in to a music radio station or watch youtube videos.

To be blunt you're way better off just getting a stream deck. That opening intro suggesting it's good for photo is cool and all but that relies on you remembering what each button does, with a stream deck you outright just have an image represent what the button does or even just say what it does.
@jnyc96
@jnyc96 5 месяцев назад
I mean eventually you will learn them all and not need the pictures. Buttons and screens can die faster and are definitely more annoying to replace/repair than a simple switch. Theres also countless custom keycaps that you can buy or even make your own. I would prefer a keypad like this that I would most likely never need to replace or fix easily.

I have one like this with 4 layers 12 keys I have memorized every layer. 48 actions all memorized. You just understand different people different needs
@kouhaiii3182
@kouhaiii3182 5 месяцев назад
could go for blank or custom keycaps. and you could memorize a stream deck's layout without having to look at it every single time, the same way you can with this numpad.
@calebwooldridge242
@calebwooldridge242 5 месяцев назад
True, but this isn't marketed towards people who would prefer a stream deck. Stream decks are cool but they have mushy buttons that don't feel good to press and you can't customize the sound/feel of a streak deck like you could a hotswappable pcb. Also this is a full fledged numpad and the knob can be good for quick tactile adjustment unlike the stream deck. Finally, a lot of mechanical keyboard enthusiasts (the main demographic of this numpad), often have 60-70% layout keyboards that don't have a numpad so this would fit the bill aesthetically and customization wise. It's definitely not for everyone but I can see people really enooying this thing as an addition to a high end setup.

Many other options available with the same quality build and a similar or even better feature set for way less money. And this thing doesn't even have a display to let you know which macro or laye r you are currently using. Bottom line: Way too overpriced for what it is.

I bought this one and remaped all the keys for 1 hand gaming, and it actually works perfect in csgo 2 and wukong. However, I bring it back to the store and get the refund. Why? Its faucking expensive lol, and too heavy. I fell hestitate bringing it to work everyday. I wish Keychron make a plastic version that includes macro keys and usb reveicer. I am an office user, sometimes play games on gears must have usb 2.4 Ghz

I've been contemplating getting this for a while now. I have the Keychron Q1 Pro and I just feel like this will go perfectly with the keyboard and other items on my desk. I know some people will say its better to just get a full size keyboard but having the numpad in the way when its not needed eliminates some mouse space and depending on how you sit it can cause you to skew your keyboard to one side. While I loved using the numpad on my full size keyboard it was a bit annoying at times. This would be perfect because it can be placed exactly where its needed while not interfering with the other items on the desk. Its definitely not for everyone but I can see a ton of benefits.

Literally doing this now. Bought a q3 max and the q0 max. I telework and used a num pad for day job but when traveling, don’t need to lug around a Q6. Best of both worlds. Ya it’s expensive…. That’s why I have a day job lol

i used the q1keyboard , i found the online website via for macro is not user friendly enough, though i can’t deny the sound of the keyboard, and the text macro is extremely slow, so you will be mentally struggling considering you paid such a high price for a number pad for macro,but the macro is a hassle and don’t react quick, luckily i can return it.

For example, what if I take a regular macropad and set the separate layer with numerals. Would it work as numpad? And then switch to another layer for shortcuts

I would have loved to see this video presented more as a general advocation for numpads as macro pads, instead of just seeing someone make an ad for a keychron numpad. perhaps a harsh way to put it, but a blunt approach to sponsored content receives a blunt form of criticism, i suppose. Lighting and B roll looked great, script was well written and read, but you dont need me to tell you that. I guess the positive spin would be, "Very inventive to fit 2 sponsored segments into a single 6 minute video! Very efficient!"

for just a numpad, that price is really crazy xD could buy a whole new keyboard with that. I found a numpad from some Chinese brand that does the job, really nice to type on, has 3 modes (2.4G, bluetooth and wired), has a knob, hot-swappable, can be customized with app as well and it only costs $31...
