You don't need to grind the horsetails to stop bleeding. Just strip the horsetail and you can directly apply it. Also since you haven't done it yet after wondering for so long, you can get honey by stripping a natal leaves for a short stick and then you can stick the short stick into the beehive.

Realistically, the way to kill the croc would be to impale it trough the soft underbelly. The Ape did a good job by holding the croc's jaws closed as crocs have weak jaw=opening muscles. Now, in the water, the best way would be to shove something [arm, leg, stick] don the croc's throat as that would allow for water to enter the croc's lungs and drown it. In the latter case, hold on for dear life because the croc will try to shake/kill you with the death roll, holding as tight as possible and allowing your whole body to spin along with the croc is the safest option. Yes, You will be injured, heavily, but at least the croc will be dead and you will be not dead.
