Germany in fog is such a powerful bounty to take turn 1 because it will rarely get broken with everyone taking their own bounty. It also allows u a central position to see where to move to on turn 2. GG Pete.

Pete, I finally decided to give risk a try after watching a ton of your videos, and promptly started with an 11 game losing streak. After working on not making myself a threat early on, I'm 13-22 and just beat my second grandmaster after a 2 hour game. Working towards that positive record. Thanks for the tips!

True story (Not a paid advertisement!) I used to play Risk as a kid back in the late 70s and 80s. Found Risk for the iPad a few years ago, played a few AI games and tried some online games. Always played classic/fixed. Always did poorly. Didn't play for a wile, but stumbled on your videos a few months ago and have enjoyed watching them, mostly for your positive energy, but also for the Risk strategy. Fast forward to last night, and I decided to play a game (n the slow iPad). I see the EU map, progressive and blizzards (no fog). Ok, time to see what Pete has taught me. I started 5/6 and got a terrible position in the bottom right of Orient. Tried the 3 position game, got blown out in two spots by aggressive noobs and became the fish. So I hunkered down on my cap, away from the raging wars, and played good neighbour and tried to survive. Waited to trade like you taught, managed to stay alive. Made friends with the big fish by staying away and helping them as they swallowed the board. Eventually I lasted long enough that it was 3 of us, and the big fish fed me second place as they ran out of time, so I took it and a second cap. That is when I noticed the leader was going for the whole board and not the caps. Next turn I traded and stole two more caps, leaving about 35 on each of the 4. I noticed they were chasing me around trying to box me in, waiting for the kill, but not taking caps. At this point it was 350-125 in their favour for troops. I needed two caps and they were in the north with only one way in around the top right. I was able to sucker them into moving down their guard and the next turn was able to trade on 3 cards for 105 pieces. As fast as I could with the iPad I raced through the top and took the last two caps. Victory! I am sure they were not pleased to remember it was a caps game. I definitely got lucky with the other players, and made some bad routing, splitting, and time usage errors, but it was 100% your videos that got me through when all I wanted to do at one point was suicide into the player that had forced me onto a single cap spot. Thanks to the Peteman™strategy I was able to win my first game in competitive, on a new map in progressive, which I had never played. 5 stars, would recommend! To celebrate in KPS style, I strapped on the 20lb. weight vest and got in 50 pull ups. :D

Hey Pete, love your vids. I had a game a few days ago against 3 teamers on. 2 of them just hit me and 1 built up and took continents. After I realized that I became determined to win and I did. Only because there were 2 bots was it possible, but I did it and it felt so good. By turn 5 the player who was taking territory was making 60 and by turn 6 he was making 30 cause I killed everyone else and hit him hard. It was glorious. Thank you for your lessons in sucking less than most others. BTW one was a grandmaster

Since I'm here, I'm gonna play the Capital guessing game. xD Hmm...probably not gonna cap in Britannia or Greenland, especially with Orange having a 4 there. Having the Cap in the top part of Italy would be good, same with Russia or the Ottoman Empire, since it gives you a choke-point to build around. Hrmm...still, that upper German territory is really good, especially with the Blizzard cutting off the Scandinavian bonus from Britain. I think it'll be there. Edit: I sort of had a good indication of which way you were leaning by what you said before you picked, but still, glad I guessed right ^.^ It's the little things in life.

For a moment I thought the black player was me. I played game Very similar to this a couple of days ago where a red player went out of control and i had to Cap stack. Xept i did hold Danaric and the +8 of eastern europe (Broke hia russia once to get savastapol and the territory north of it (Was split off from a blizzard. He was mad and broke me, but didnt break the 2 territories from his side. Traded and took my +8 back and showed him I wouldnt break his russia again. We been best neighbors for the rest of the game. He spiraled out of control despite the game going over 2h long. Him generating 50+ troops and me cap stacking with a 14 generation. He gave me 2nd despite my cap being a bit smaller than the other 2 players still in the game. So yeah, being good neighbor does pay out sometimes!!

this game gave me a joy i thought i couldn't experience from watching someone else play

I just came out of a classic fixed game of risk. I got Africa and was using the thumbs up when anyone got 69 troops, and everyone ended up teaming on me to card block me without taking their own bonus. Was so weird.

You should watch jjbruhs cap run from a couple days ago. He won it in 5 turns. It was ridiculous! I also love watching everything turn red like in this match. I might be a bit biased though. Lol!
